What a way to start December, as accumulated snow has touched down in Salina and several areas throughout central Kansas.

Salina is under a winter weather advisory until 6:00 pm on Monday. The high for today is 28, and the low is 14.

The US National Weather Service has provided winter travel safety tips for those who are will be traveling on the roads for the holidays.

Those tips include: 

- Share your travel plans with friends or family.

- Winterize your vehicle.

- Pack and emergency supply kit.

- Check road conditions.

- Frequently check weather forecasts in your area.
