The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Heat Advisory for Saline, McPherson, Marion, Chase, Reno, Harvey, Butler, Greenwood, Woodson, Allen, Elk, Wilson, Neosho, Chautauqua, Montgomery, and Labette counties.

The advisory remains in effect from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Residents can expect heat index values to reach up to 106 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for anyone exposed to prolonged heat. The combination of high temperatures and humidity increases the risk of heat-related illnesses.
