&nbsp; Marty Raymond Higle, 60, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 20th, 2020. Marty was born in Belleville, Kansas on October 5, 1960, son of Rose Marie (Williams) Blackwood, of Scandia, Kansas and the late Theodore Edward Higle. He owned and operated Fiddlesticks and worked at Tony's Pizza. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Cheryl (Taylor) Higle of the home; daughter, Miranda Higle; two sons, Lucas Higle, Hunter Higle, all of Salina, Kansas; and brother, Brendan Conn, of Belleville, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his brother, Steven Higle. Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Arvid Lee Bergstrom, the son of Arvid M. &amp; Ethel (Noland) Bergstrom, was born on December 1, 1929, on the family farm, near Brantford, Kansas.

Arvid graduated from Courtland High School, class of 1947. He then married Rosella Delores Anderson on May 1, 1949, in Courtland.

Arvid enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and served his country from November 1951 – October 1955. Following his honorable discharge, Arvid enlisted in the Air Force Reserves until October 1960.

He was a lifelong farmer and stockman in the Agenda area.

Arvid passed away on November 18, 2020, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 17 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosella in 2009, and infant daughter Deborah.

He will be forever remembered by his son, Lester Bergstrom and his wife Pat of Cuba, daughter Roseanne McCann and her husband Bob of Overbrook, Kansas, daughter Christine Gepner and her husband Bob of Bonner Springs, Kansas. Arvid is also survived by his grandchildren, Jerrod, Rhonda, Gretchen, Teralee, Joseph, Mark, David, Ethan, Alex and Spencer, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Rosco and her husband Harvey, his&nbsp;brother, Marvin,&nbsp;sister Alice Adee and her husband Richard,&nbsp;sister Edna Olson and her husband Jim, sister Sandy Duey and her husband Bob, and sister&nbsp;Janice Parr.&nbsp;

Arvid will lie in state at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home for public viewing on Monday, November 23rd, 2020, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 24th, 2020, at 2:00 pm, at the Brantford Covenant Church Cemetery, rural Clyde, Kansas.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Honor Detail from McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita.

She graduated from Galva High School in 1957 and from cosmetology school in Salina in 1958. On August 24, 1958, Karolyn was united in marriage to Russell M. Moors at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Galva. She was a member of First Baptist Church, McPherson. &nbsp; Harlan (“Har”) L. Shogren passed away at his home November 18, 2020 with his loving wife by his side. Harlan was born January 5, 1928 to Howard and Bernice (Linderholm) Shogren. He was one of eight siblings. On June 2, 1954, Harlan and Jeanette Anderson were united in marriage in Lindsborg. Harlan and Jeanette set their roots in Lindsborg in Jeanette’s childhood home where they raised their 5 children. Harlan was a devoted husband, father, teacher and craftsman. The two ran Shogren Draperies out of the home’s attic and eventually basement. Jeanette and her team of seamstresses sewed the drapes and Harlan installed the hardware, many times having to manufacture the rods and valances to meet the desired results of the customer. Harlan also learned how to reupholster furniture. Harlan taught in Gaylord and Canton before teaching at Salina South Junior High and when the new Salina High South was built, he moved over to the Business Department. It was clearly obvious how well Harlan was thought of by his former students, as family members shopped in Salina it wasn’t uncommon for cashiers to ask if they were related to Mr. Shogren. Har’s Palace (aka the shop) is where Harlan could be found when he wasn’t at school or on a drapery installation or attending one of thousands of sporting events, concerts and other extracurricular activities his children and grandchildren were performing in. The family home is filled with handmade furniture, cabinets and other wooden crafts constructed by Har. For over 20 years on Halloween, Trick or Treaters lined the front porch to get a handmade wooden Halloween character in lieu of candy. The Tombstone handed out in 2019 signified the end of this cherished tradition. Harlan was actively involved with the McPherson Area Habitat for Humanity and served as the chair for several years. He was proud of the houses that he oversaw the building of and how economically these houses were built. Harlan is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Bernice, Stepmother Hannah (Varnloft) Shogren, sisters Marion, Martha, Arcel, an infant sister and brothers J Glen and Merle. Survivors are his wife Jeanette of the home. Children Kristin Burki (David) Overland Park, Brad (Sara) Lindsborg, Ron (Angie) Lindsborg, Bruce (Velvet) Wichita and Brent of Winfield. Grandchildren Katie (Shogren) Greenwood (Seth), Tracy Shogren (Cathy), Megan Burki, Jennifer (Burki) Schulte (John), Ashley Shogren, Stephanie (Shogren) Wares (Garrett), Rachel (Shogren) English (Ben), Haley Shogren, Zachary Shogren, Spencer Crowther (Alyssa) Havanna, Colten Crowther, Ethan Crowther, Samantha Crowther, Cole Brumbaugh and Ellie Brumbaugh. Robert Richard Dittman, age 96, formerly of White City, Kansas, passed away November 19, 2020 at the Herington Municipal Hospital.

He was born September 19, 1924 in Manhattan, Kansas to Ben and Pauline (Kietzman) Dittman. Bob married June&nbsp;&nbsp; on October 19, 1945.&nbsp; They had two children Karyl and Laryl.&nbsp;

Bob attended the Lutheran Church and was a member of The Eagles Lodge in Junction City. He retired from working at the Mor-Kan Grain Elevator and then helped Junior Hultgren move houses.&nbsp; He enjoyed the times he and his family spent at their cabin at Council Grove City Lake. &nbsp;He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife June, son Laryl, and siblings Kathryn, Charles and Marguarite. He is survived by his daughter Karyl Osbourn; grandchildren: Brian, Justin and Ronnie and cousins. &nbsp;

A private graveside service will be held at the White City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.

He attended Dist. 28 rural school.&nbsp; He graduated from Concordia High School in 1947.&nbsp; He had many interests in life.&nbsp; He was interested in electronics and repaired radios while in high school for Culbertsons, Edwards &amp; Martins.&nbsp; He studied Morse code and got his amateur radio license and his call letters were W0BBM.&nbsp; He took a test as a radio engineer and employed at several radio stations and then later was employed with Wendell Wilson at KNCK.&nbsp; He served in the U.S. Air Force in California, Arizona, Illinois &amp; Alaska.&nbsp; In 1957, they moved to St. Louis and worked for UNIVAC. He was also interested computers and then solar &amp; wind technology, but most importantly his love for scripture.&nbsp; He married Marian D. Swenson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on June 12, 1949.&nbsp; They attended several churches across the country and were currently members of The Baptist Church, Concordia.

He is survived by his wife, Marian, Concordia; sons, Daniel Pick (Deanna), Port St. Lucie, FL &amp; Michael Pick (Tracy), Hillsboro, MO; grandchildren, David &amp; Karen Pick, Danae &amp; Caleb Redick, Elisa &amp; Patrick Marstall &amp; Christina &amp; Andy Wilder &amp; great grandchildren, Serenity &amp; Harmony Pick.

Edwin A. Pick

Danny E. Echer, 86, of Lucas, Kansas, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at his home in Lucas.

Danny was born on April 10, 1934, in Rural Osborne County, Kansas, the only child of Frank and Sylvia (Florian) Echer.  He grew up in Lucas, Kansas, and graduated from Lucas High School in 1952.  After high school he served his country by joining the United States Army.  He was united in marriage to Ramona Svaty on September 23, 1956 at the Baptist Church in Lucas, Kansas.  They lived a full and happy life in Lucas for over 50 years.  From this union Danny and Ramona were blessed with two daughters Jill and Joy.  Danny &amp; Ramona gave their girls an idyllic childhood, with Sunday dinners at either Grandma-on-the-farm’s house or Grandma-in-town’s house. He worked as a farmer but also worked as a Meat Inspector for 30 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  He was a longtime member of the Lucas United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed taking care of his farm, going to sale barn auctions, researching war history and spending time with his family, friends and neighbors.

Surviving family include daughters Jill Vinson of Salina, Kansas, and Joy Echer of New York, New York.  Three grandchildren Rachel Camese, Cole VanBlaricon and Olivia Schaan; and three great grandchildren Warrick VanBlaricon, Strattyn Wheeler and Briggs Schaan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Ramona on January 22, 2016.

A graveside service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the Lucas City Cemetery in Lucas, Kansas.  Family and friends can view Danny from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 25th at the Lucas United Methodist Church.  The family will greet guests the day of service at the cemetery. 

 Memorials may be given to the Lucas United Methodist Church and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

Echer, 86, of Lucas, Kansas, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at his home in Lucas.Danny was born on April 10, 1934, in Rural Osborne County, Kansas, the only child of Frank and Sylvia (Florian) Echer. He grew up in Lucas, Kansas, and graduated from Lucas High School in 1952. After high school he served his country by joining the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Ramona Svaty on September 23, 1956 at the Baptist Church in Lucas, Kansas. They lived a full and happy life in Lucas for over 50 years. From this union Danny and Ramona were blessed with two daughters Jill and Joy. Danny &amp; Ramona gave their girls an idyllic childhood, with Sunday dinners at either Grandma-on-the-farm’s house or Grandma-in-town’s house. He worked as a farmer but also worked as a Meat Inspector for 30 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a longtime member of the Lucas United Methodist Church. He enjoyed taking care of his farm, going to sale barn auctions, researching war history and spending time with his family, friends and neighbors.Surviving family include daughters Jill Vinson of Salina, Kansas, and Joy Echer of New York, New York. Three grandchildren Rachel Camese, Cole VanBlaricon and Olivia Schaan; and three great grandchildren Warrick VanBlaricon, Strattyn Wheeler and Briggs Schaan. Randy Lee Mapes, 32, of Quapaw, OK died Friday, November 13, 2020 at 
Integris Miami Hospital, Miami, OK. He was born September 15, 1988 to 
David Lee Mapes and Frances Rene (Ainsworth) Vogler in McPherson, KS.
 Randy attended schools in McPherson, KS. He married Allysha 
Montgomery in Smith Center, KS on July 10, 2013 and they were parents of
 three boys Bentley, Brenner and Blayne. Randy worked as a Certified 
Nurse Aide, working in many area facilities as a traveling CNA. He 
loved to bake, always looking for a new and delicious recipe to try. He
 enjoyed gardening and looked forward to trips to the greenhouse to 
start planting. He also enjoyed taking the boys to the lake, fishing 
and camping.
 He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Fran Taylor, paternal grandfather Eddie Mapes and aunt Rhonda Hart.
 He is survived by sons Bentley, Brenner and Blayne of Smith Center, 
KS; father David (Jolene) Mapes of Joplin, MO; mother Frances Rene (Tim)

Paul Kidwell, 92, of Clay Center, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 at his residence.&nbsp; He was born on March 17, 1928 at Mentor, Kansas, the son of Thomas E. and Viola E. (Conley) Kidwell.&nbsp; Paul moved to Clay Center in 1936 with his family.&nbsp; He graduated from CCCHS in 1947.&nbsp; Paul served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.&nbsp; He married Donna Webb on May 7, 1950 and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2015.&nbsp; Paul owned and operated Kidwell Oil and Kidwell Liquor from 1963 until 2001.&nbsp; He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and was a charter member of the Clay Center Elks Lodge.&nbsp;

He is also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas; 3 sisters, Phyllis Moe, Ester Moede, Genevieve Siebold and daughter in-law, Charlotte Kidwell.

&nbsp; Linda Kay Hottman(Franks), 64, of Junction City, Kansas, formerly of Olathe and Abilene, passed from ongoing health problems at her residence and joined her Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 14th, 2020. She was born January 17, 1956 in Paola, Kansas; the daughter of James Henry and Marjorie Jean Franks(Berry). Linda attended grade school in Paola, Junior/High school in Olathe, and received her CNA license in Abilene, KS. Preceded in death by both her parents, three brothers: James Franks, Franklin Franks, Roy Franks, and one sister Margie Cook.

Linda is survived by two sons and one daughter: Chad A.Parks, William P. &amp; wife Erin Hottman, both of Abilene; daughter, Terra L.Hottman of Manhattan, KS and 6 grandchildren. Carol was born in Cedar Vale, Kansas on August 4, 1942, a daughter of Minerva E. (Wood) and Lester E. Bever. Carol attended Cedar Vale Elementary School, Cedar Vale, Kansas and McKinley Elementary School in Abilene, Kansas, McPherson Junior High School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1960. She then attended and graduated from Brown Mackie Business College, Salina, Kansas. She was a member of First Baptist Church McPherson, where she was Baptized on June 19, 1955 by Reverend Ray Pasley, Jr. Carol Lee Bever was united in marriage to Darold Eugene Bradford on April 22, 1961 at McPherson, Kansas where they established their first home together. This union was blessed with the birth of a daughter and a son, Debra and Kevin. Carol was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked as a Key Punch Operator for Farmers Alliance Insurance Company, was an Accounting Supervisor and Assistant Treasurer for Alliance Life Insurance Company and retired after 17 1/2 years of service to the McPherson County Attorney's Office, all of McPherson. Carol Lee Bradford

After a long battle with cancer, Arnold passed away November 15, 2020 at the age of 83 with his family by his side.

Arnold Leroy Fox was born on January 28, 1937 to Francis and Mabel Fox at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.

Growing up, Arnold attended Browns Creek School, Center School, and Rose Valley, and later graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1957. While attending school, Arnold was active in 4-H. One of Arnold’s achievements in 4-H was a wheat project, and he was awarded a championship ribbon at the county fair. Arnold entered his wheat project at the state fair, and received a grand champion award and a 3-day trip to Kansas City.

He lived on a farm north of Glen Elder, where he enjoyed helping his dad with the farm. He always looked forward to helping with wheat harvest, even when his health was failing. He loved helping Dewayne McClintock, Chris Bell, and Erick Kadel.

Arnold enlisted into the US Army in January, 1957. He was honorably discharged in January, 1959.

Arnold was united in marriage with Doris McMann on June 10, 1961 in Beloit, Kansas. They were blessed with three children, Karrie, Danny, and Randy.

He was employed for 26 years at the Beloit Motor Company, where he worked as an auto body mechanic. He was also employed at Boettcher Supply as a farm maintenance mechanic.

Arnold took pride in his garden and lawn. He enjoyed sharing his garden produce with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Doris of the home; his children, Karrie (Don) of Salina, Danny (Beth) of Lawrence, and Randy (Karen) of Port Orchard, Washington; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his sister, Marilyn of Salina; and his kitty, Susie.

Arnold will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday, November 21 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice or American Cancer Society. The casket will be closed on the day of the service. Masks will be required upon entry into the funeral home - if you do not have one, we have some available.

Arnold Fox

Ernest Lynn Lentell, age 99, of Council Grove, passed away November 15, 2020 at Diversicare of Council Grove.&nbsp; Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, private services will be held.&nbsp; A Celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at a later date.

&nbsp;Lynn was born on Oct 15, 1921 at his Mother’s family (Randle) farm in Diamond Springs, KS. He was raised on the Ernest Linwood Lentell family farm in Wilsey, KS. He attended Olive Branch rural grade school, in Delavan, KS and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1939. In high school he played basketball and baseball. He loved baseball throughout his life, and he was a big fan of the Kansas City Royals in his later years. He attended Emporia State Teachers’ College for one year, before moving to Wichita to work at Beech Aircraft. He met his wife, Edith Pauline (Polly) Holmes at Beech and they were married in her hometown of Newton, KS on October 12, 1942.

Lynn was drafted into the Navy in 1942 and did his basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where upon completion he was reassigned to Marine Corps Avionics. His advance training as a radar servicing technician was in Utah and Texas. He shipped out to the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific in late 1943 or early 1944. He was in Bomber Squadron VMB-413 based on Emirau until the Japanese surrender in 1945. He was discharged from the Marines in August 1946.

Lynn attended Kansas State University on the GI Bill and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949. His son Randall Lynn Lentell was born there during his last semester at KSU in 1949. Upon graduation he moved the family to Council Grove, KS where he worked for the REA (Rural Electrification Administration) for two years. Lynn returned to work for Beech Aircraft in 1951, initially at the Herrington, KS airport facility. Lynn subsequently moved the family back to Wichita to again work at the local Beech Aircraft facility. Their daughter Paula Kyle was born in Wichita in 1953. In 1958 Lynn was transferred to Beech’s Aerospace Division in Boulder, CO to work on their NASA Project Mercury manned-space program contract.

In 1965, Lynn went to work for General Electric in Daytona Beach, FL to work on their NASA manned-lunar landing program contracts. At GE he worked on Projects Gemini and Apollo. He would go to Cape Canaveral, FL to monitor launches until the manned space crafts were in orbit, and vectored off to the moon, at which time he would fly to the Johnson Space Center in Houston to monitor the flights in lunar orbit. Once the lunar activities were over and the crafts were on the return trip back to earth, he would return home to Daytona. He and his family were very proud of his NASA related work, and he had many astronaut mementos and program memorabilia around his home.

In 1973, Lynn’s aerospace contract work was completed and GE transferred him to Washington, DC to work on their Navy and Commercial nuclear power programs. His work primarily revolved around Nuclear NQA-1 Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs. Lynn and Polly lived in the Northern Virginia suburbs of DC. During his time working on GE’s nuclear power programs, he and Polly had extended stays on projects in Pasadena, CA and Syracuse, NY. They enjoyed their project travel assignments and they were always active in their local churches. He retired from GE during his final Washington, DC assignments in 1986 and he and Polly moved to their final home in Council Grove, KS, near his boyhood home of Wilsey.

Lynn &amp; Polly loved retirement in small farm-town Council Grove and were both active in community groups. Lynn was Secretary for the local Historical Society for 16 yrs and Polly was actively involved as well. They were members of the local “Country Club” and were socially active there until he finally quit playing golf when he was 88+ yrs old, when he could no longer drive over “200 yds”…. Polly was very actively involved in the Morris County Hospital Axillary. Lynn was a long-time member of the Council Grove Masonic Lodge #36, and the Isis Shrine &amp; Scottish Rite, Salina, at the highest levels. He &amp; Polly were both very active in the First Baptist Church in Council Grove for many years.

Lynn suffered a stroke in 2019 and he subsequently moved into Diversicare of Council Grove. The compassionate staff of Diversicare provided loving care for him during the last year of his life.

He was raised on the Ernest Linwood Lentell family farm in Wilsey, KS. He attended Olive Branch rural grade school, in Delavan, KS and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1939. In high school he played basketball and baseball. He loved baseball throughout his life, and he was a big fan of the Kansas City Royals in his later years. He attended Emporia State Teachers’ College for one year, before moving to Wichita to work at Beech Aircraft. He met his wife, Edith Pauline (Polly) Holmes at Beech and they were married in her hometown of Newton, KS on October 12, 1942.Lynn was drafted into the Navy in 1942 and did his basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where upon completion he was reassigned to Marine Corps Avionics. His advance training as a radar servicing technician was in Utah and Texas. He shipped out to the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific in late 1943 or early 1944. He was in Bomber Squadron VMB-413 based on Emirau until the Japanese surrender in 1945. He was discharged from the Marines in August 1946.Lynn attended Kansas State University on the GI Bill and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949. His son Randall Lynn Lentell was born there during his last semester at KSU in 1949. Upon graduation he moved the family to Council Grove, KS where he worked for the REA (Rural Electrification Administration) for two years. Lynn returned to work for Beech Aircraft in 1951, initially at the Herrington, KS airport facility. Lynn subsequently moved the family back to Wichita to again work at the local Beech Aircraft facility. Their daughter Paula Kyle was born in Wichita in 1953. In 1958 Lynn was transferred to Beech’s Aerospace Division in Boulder, CO to work on their NASA Project Mercury manned-space program contract.In 1965, Lynn went to work for General Electric in Daytona Beach, FL to work on their NASA manned-lunar landing program contracts. At GE he worked on Projects Gemini and Apollo. He would go to Cape Canaveral, FL to monitor launches until the manned space crafts were in orbit, and vectored off to the moon, at which time he would fly to the Johnson Space Center in Houston to monitor the flights in lunar orbit. Once the lunar activities were over and the crafts were on the return trip back to earth, he would return home to Daytona. He and his family were very proud of his NASA related work, and he had many astronaut mementos and program memorabilia around his home.In 1973, Lynn’s aerospace contract work was completed and GE transferred him to Washington, DC to work on their Navy and Commercial nuclear power programs. His work primarily revolved around Nuclear NQA-1 Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs. Lynn and Polly lived in the Northern Virginia suburbs of DC. During his time working on GE’s nuclear power programs, he and Polly had extended stays on projects in Pasadena, CA and Syracuse, NY. They enjoyed their project travel assignments and they were always active in their local churches. He retired from GE during his final Washington, DC assignments in 1986 and he and Polly moved to their final home in Council Grove, KS, near his boyhood home of Wilsey.Lynn &amp; Polly loved retirement in small farm-town Council Grove and were both active in community groups. Lynn was Secretary for the local Historical Society for 16 yrs and Polly was actively involved as well. They were members of the local “Country Club” and were socially active there until he finally quit playing golf when he was 88+ yrs old, when he could no longer drive over “200 yds”…. Polly was very actively involved in the Morris County Hospital Axillary. Lynn was a long-time member of the Council Grove Masonic Lodge #36, and the Isis Shrine &amp; Scottish Rite, Salina, at the highest levels. He &amp; Polly were both very active in the First Baptist Church in Council Grove for many years.Lynn suffered a stroke in 2019 and he subsequently moved into Diversicare of Council Grove. Ernest Lynn Lentell

Beverly Ann Massey Cox, 83, passed away in Bel Aire, Kansas, on November 14, 2020. She was born May 14, 1937, in Salina, Kansas, to Clayton Jesse and Enola (Hull) Massey.

On August 19, 1956, she married Donald Robert Cox. She was a retired CMA at Kidron Bethel in North Newton, KS. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Sedgwick, KS.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Donald, her daughter, Julie (Lee) Fields of Elizabeth City, NC, son, David (Colleen) Cox of Bel Aire, KS, and daughter, Katherine (Brian) Dixon of Sedgwick, KS; six grandchildren:&nbsp; Brian (Katie) Fields, Kristi Olinger, Beth (Kasey) Nosay, Stephanie Dixon, Alaina Cox and Rachel Cox, and seven great-grandchildren; siblings Nancy Keeling of Wichita, KS, Donna (Earl) Dague of Spring, TX, and Larry (Cheryl) Massey of Tempe, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Melvin Douglas.

&nbsp; Timothy Raymond "Tim" Windler, 74, of Salina, Kansas passed away Sunday, November 15th, 2020 at his residence. Timothy was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 18, 1946, a son of Elizabeth (Minden) and Lester Windler. Tim attended Trinity Lutheran School in the Block Community rural Paola, Kansas and graduated from Paola High School, Paola, Kansas in 1964. He then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. He was Baptized and Confirmed into the Trinity Lutheran Church of the Block Community rural Paola, Kansas. Through the years Tim worked as a parts manager for Landsco for 10 years and Dauer Implement for 25 years from which he retired both of Salina, Kansas. Tim enjoyed music very much and sang and played guitar in various bands including the Sundusters and Classic Heart to name a few. He also loved watching sports and going to games, working crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and word searches. Tim was a quiet, gentle, and kind person. Timothy Raymond Windler was united in marriage to Julie C. Zimmerman Davis and they were able to share 35 years together. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Julie Davis - Windler, of Salina, Kansas; his children, Dustin "Dusty" Farris and husband Chris, of Salina, Kansas, and Jaryl Davis, of Castle Rock, Colorado; his siblings, Greg Windler and wife Karen, of Paola, Kansas and Becky Stutzman and husband Brett, of Paola, Kansas; his brother-in-law, Joe Stephens and wife Christie, of Paola, Kansas; his step-brother, Gary Minden, of McLouth, Kansas; and his favorite grandchildren, Derek Weis and Daryan Weis; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was a retired secretary, working for Duguid Realty and Landmark Realty. Mary Ann was born on August 17, 1928, in Buhler, KS, the daughter of John J. and Eva M. (Willems) Sawatzky. She graduated from Buhler High School in 1946 and attended Hutchinson Junior College. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Paul R. Winter on October 5, 1947, in Buhler, KS. On October 20, 1973, she married Loren Lee Johnson in McPherson. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2018. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary where she was Past President, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and McPherson Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include: two children, Tom (Debra) Winter of Wamego, KS and Diane Nelson of Wichita, KS; sister, Eva Mae Andres of Hesston, KS; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Bob Sawatzky, and son-in-law, Lynn Nelson. Mary Ann Johnson

Arlen Wayne Janssen, 96, graduated to his heavenly home on Friday November 13, 2020 at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons, KS. He was born on December 24, 1923 at the farmstead two miles north of Lorraine, KS to Herman G. and Christina (Steenbock) Janssen.

&nbsp; Arlen attended school in Lorraine and graduated with the Class of 1941. He was united in marriage to Lucille Wirth on May 3, 1947 at the Bethany Baptist Church in Lincoln County, KS and was blessed with 55 years of marriage until she died on October 23, 2002. He farmed one year near Kanopolis and then spent the rest of his life farming in northern Rice County. Farming included raising many crops and animals, especially pigs so the Janssen Hog Farm was created as a partnership with his son Steven.

&nbsp; Arlen was a loving husband, father of four, grandfather of six, and great grandfather of 12. He had a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lorraine. He was the church clerk and deacon for many years. He also was the treasurer for the Southwest Association of the North American Baptist Conference and did a lot of traveling for church extension prospective sites. He enjoyed traveling to most of the tri-annual NAB Conferences over the many years, the last one being at age 94. He also took many bus trip tours all over the US with Steve or Doug and Rosanne.

Nina Beals, 99 died November 16, 2020 in Little River, KS.&nbsp; She was born on August 22, 1921 in Miltonvale, KS the daughter of John and Edith (Hutcheson) Springsted.&nbsp; Nina was raised the Miltonvale community. She taught school following high school graduation and normal training.&nbsp; On August 24, 1941, Nina married Walter Beals.&nbsp; They made their home in Miltonvale where she worked as the city clerk.&nbsp; In 1972, they moved to McPherson and Nina worked for JC Penny, retiring in 1985.&nbsp; Walter and Nina moved to Clay Center in 1988.&nbsp; Walter preceded her in death on October 30, 1995.&nbsp; She was a former member of the Clay Center Wesleyan Church and active in the Wesleyan Missionary Group.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Beverly, and four sisters

Nina Beals

Larry’s life began on March 4, 1942 in Abilene.  He was the son of Estell and Marge (Altman) Sims. 

Larry is a 1960 graduate of Abilene High School. 

 After graduation, he served his country in the United States Army.  

Larry was an over-the-road truck driver for many years. 

 He is survived by four children, several grandchildren; siblings Sue Stewart of Overland Park, Connie (Dave) Risser of Lakewood, CO and David (Ann) Sims of Ava, MO.; and several nieces and nephews. 

 Larry passed away on Sunday November 15, 2020 at Legacy of Herington.

Larry is a 1960 graduate of Abilene High School. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Army. Larry was an over-the-road truck driver for many years. He is survived by four children, several grandchildren; siblings Sue Stewart of Overland Park, Connie (Dave) Risser of Lakewood, CO and David (Ann) Sims of Ava, MO.; and several nieces and nephews. James L. Burchfiel, age 79, of Concordia, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia.&nbsp; He was born on August 6, 1941 in Concordia, Kansas to John and Viola (Jennings) Burchfiel, Sr.

James attended Concordia Catholic Schools while growing up.

He married Dixie Waite.&nbsp; To this marriage 3 children were born Mark, Sharon, and Tina.&nbsp; They later divorced.

James worked for Boogaarts and then Scrivner Food Distribution Center in Concordia until they closed.

He is survived by son, Mark Burchfiel (Pam), Minot, ND; 2 Daughters, Tina Engle (Jeff) Kansas City, Sharon Klima (Ryan), Concordia, KS. 13 Grandkids Logan, Kendra, Landon, Kirsten, Kayla, Hayden, Ryah, Brant, Breawna, Brooklyn, Bobby, Garrett and Kody. 3 Great Grandkids Sophea, Ivie and Remy.

2 Brothers, Dennis Burchfiel, Concordia, KS; Bob Burchfiel, Wichita, KS; Sister, Mary Lou Jensen, Ft. Collins, CO; 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Viola, a brother, Daniel H., and John Roland, Burchfiel, Jr.

Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will take place at a later time.

&nbsp; Sandra “Sandie” K. Fahey, a Chapman resident since 1979, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 in her Chapman home. She was born March 1, 1941 in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Max M. and Mary E. (Shaw) Polly.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Fahey on November 16, 1957 in Newton, Illinois.

They started their married life in Hopkins, Minnesota. Together they raised four children: Kim Kali-Schultes (Brian,); Ren Fahey (Christine); Brent Fahey (Jamie); and Kyle Fahey (Cathy). They lived in a variety of places, to include Tucson &amp; Phoenix, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT; Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO and Cincinnati, OH before settling down in Chapman, KS.

Sandie was a cosmetologist in her early years and worked in a variety of different settings. In her later years, she was the co-owner of the Chapman Grocery Store and Shamrock Estates Mobile Home Park. Sandie believed in serving others through random acts of kindness to those less fortunate and was often an unseen hero to friends and those in need.

During her illness, Sandie fought a long and courageous battle over the last two years of her life and was able to remain in her home with the support of her family, her caregiver, Jane Kobetich and Dickinson County Hospice staff. The family wants to thank each of these individuals for their loving care of her.

Sandie is survived by her loving husband Ken of the home, her four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Philip.

Due to the current pandemic, friends may visit on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from Noon until 7PM at Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Chapman. Private family graveside services for Sandie will be Friday, November 20, 2020 at Indian Hills Cemetery in Chapman.

Mary Ann Abernathy, 67, died November 13, 2020. She was born November 28, 1952 in Salina, the daughter of Orville and Ida (Merriman) Barnes. She had worked at Rema Bake Ware and loved to play bingo and travel with her husband, Richard "Ed," who passed away in January of this year.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband "Ed," and a son, Eric. She is survived by her grandson, Tyler Short, a brother, Robert (Vickie) Barnes, Spokane, WA, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be at the Ryan Mortuary on Friday from 4 until 8 pm where the family will receive friends from 4 until 6 pm. that evening. Masks are required.

Funeral services will be held at the graveside at 10:00 am Saturday, November 21, 2020 in the Bennington Cemetery, Bennington.

Mary Margaret (O'Shea) Roesner, 93, of Salina, passed away early Sunday, November 15, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her sons Jim and Leo and her grandson Jeb.

Mary is survived by her children Mary Katherine Isaacson (Vaughn), Theresa White, Joni Carver, Louise Dunn (Brian), David (Karen), Clara Hilger (Patrick) and Malin Thornberg-Roesner; 24 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Mary was an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish and their Sojourner's group, a member of Catholic Daughters of America, and Ladies of Columbus and also taught CCD for many years. Mary was proud to be a dairy farmer and a farmer's wife, was thoroughly involved in 4-H and a life-long member of the Sunshine Circle ladies' group. She also worked for many years as a tax-preparer at R&amp;J Tax Service, H&amp;R Block and was the first young woman in her family to work professionally, taking a position as a bookkeeper upon graduating from Sacred Heart high school in 1944.

Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother and aunt and she already is dearly missed.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 19, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. following the visitation.

Don Jolley, 92, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020. He was born February 12, 1928. After high school, the army, and a degree from UMKC, Don began work for the KCK Recreation Dept. His career path began when he moved his family to Parsons as the new Supt. of Recreation. From there they relocated to Pittsburg, KS, and finally, he ended his career in Salina in 1988. He also became the President of the KRPA in 1961.

On the national scene he served in many capacities, and ultimately was chosen as the President of the NRPA. His awards are too many to mention, but as a visionary in his field, he impacted thousands of people at the local, state, and national levels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Mel, an infant sister, and his wife Mary Alice.

He is survived by his sister Doris Smith, his daughters Jann Fowler and Becky Barrett, ten grand- children, numerous great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
