

Kenneth J. Miller 94, passed away September 22, 2020. He was born October 30, 1925 to Gwen H. and Louise M. (Raymond) Miller in Greensburg, KS. 

He grew up in Minneola and Meade, KS,moving to Greensburg, KS his senior year in High School, graduating in 1943. 

He was active in the Boy Scouts earning his Eagle Scout aware with two palm branches in 1936. 

He enlisted in the Marine Corp September 1943 at the age of 17. After High School he was deployed to California where he was a member of the Marine Raiders prior to the group being dismantled during WWII. The members of the Raiders were dispersed to other units and Ken was transferred to the newly formed Co A, 1st Battalion, 28th Marines, 5th Marine Division. He landed on Iwo Jima on February 19, 1945. Ken was wounded March 2, 1945 for which he was awarded the Pearl Heart. He was discharged December 1945 at the rank of Corporal. 

After discharge from the Marines, he attended Southwestern College in Winfield, KS, where he played football and basketball, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He earned his Masters Degree in Education in 1971 through Emporia State University.

He married Sally Elliott in 1950 and to this union were born four children: Kenneth Michael, Brenda Jo, Kelly Eugene, and Claudia Rae. 

He taught Industrial Arts and Drafting at the High School level and was football, basketball, and track coach. During his teaching career, he taught &amp; coached at Coats, Sylvia, Inman, Kingman and finally Solomon, KS. He loved teaching and coaching impacting the lives of many young men and women during his 37 years in education.

Ken married Kaylene Liston Riffel in 1979. 

After his retirement, they lived in Granby, Co where he built their dream home. He enjoyed the mountains and skiing. They remained in Colorado 21 years, returning to Chapman, KS 11 yrs ago. 

He is survived by his wife, Kaylene of the home, children, Mike (Carrie) Miller of Hutchinson, KS, Brenda Moorman of Tigard, OR, Kelly (Raylene) Miller of Clearwater, KS, Claudia (Larry) Nelson of New Cambria, KS, step-son, Brian Riffel of Lenexa, KS, nine grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren, his sister, Marty Koch of Dublin, OH, and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife Sally Walker, parents, and two brothers.

Visitation on Sunday, September 27 at Martin Becker Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene from 9:00 am to 5:00pm. Military Graveside services will be Monday, September 28 at 1:00 pm St. John’s Cemetery, Junction City, KS. Memorials may be made to the Dickinson County Home Health &amp; Hospice in lieu of flowers. Richard Main, 94, of Salina, passed away Thursday, September 24th, 2020.

Richard was born in Salina, Kansas on July 19, 1926, a son of the late Sarah Louise (Lusk) and Arthur Washington Main.

On February 16, 1968, Richard married Sharon Long in Salina.

Survivors include five daughters, Jolyne Alexander, (Kevin), of Iola, Kansas, Linda Bledsoe, (Bob) of Salina, Erie Houltberg, (Loren), of Salina, Janice Wearing, (Mike), of Salina, Lisa Nestler, (Rusty), of Salina; four sons, Randy Main, of Salina, Tim Main, (Linda), of Salina, Mike Main, (Marla), of Salina, Bill Main, (Teresa), of Ardmore, Oklahoma; sister, Jean Eberhart, of Salina; 27 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his son, James R. Main; brothers, Art and James; sisters, Opal and Betty.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 30th at Emmanuel Foursquare Church in Salina, Kansas.

Private interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Eula Lee (Grace) Clark, 90, Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully September 23, 2020.&nbsp; She was born in Ada, Kansas on July 20 1930 to Lee and Velma Grace.&nbsp; The family later moved to Minneapolis, Kansas, where at the age of 11 she met the love of her life.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years Robert B. Clark, parents Lee and Velma Grace, brother Stanley Grace.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lee’s greatest passion was the love of her family.&nbsp; A deeply devoted wife and mother she excelled at both.&nbsp; While involved with several philanthropic organizations throughout the years, her true passion was crocheting crosses of various colors.&nbsp; Giving them away to friends and strangers she would encounter along life’s journey.&nbsp; She would say “it was her ministry”.&nbsp; As an avid Oklahoma Sooners football fan, Lee was a season ticket holder for years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan; sons, Kevin and Linda and Bill and Amy; four grandchildren, Chris, Steven, David, and Kenzie; three great-grandchildren, Zaden, Silas, and Sienna; sister, Nedra Perry and her husband Rich; and many beloved&nbsp; family members. Our life will never be the same.&nbsp; Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. &nbsp;Flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!&nbsp;

James Curtis Logbeck, known by most people as “Jim”, departed his earthly body on Saturday, September 19, 2020, and headed for his next destination. Jim believed in eternal salvation and believed in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Jim was born June 28, 1934, in McPherson, KS, the son of Vern and Helen Logbeck. As a youngster in McPherson, Jim’s first job was working as a shoe shine boy in the Warren Hotel, later working as a paper boy, delivering newspapers for the McPherson Daily Republican. He then worked at the concession stand at the Manor Theater where he also worked in the projection booth. He continued doing these jobs all the way through junior high school and high school. During his senior year in high school, Jim tied for 1st place in a statewide physics contest.

After high school, Jim went to Kansas State University in Manhattan where he majored in electrical engineering. After his sophomore year, he went to work full time for a movie theater chain as a projectionist, manager, and later as a traveling sound engineer.

Jim was drafted into the Army and served a total of six years, including his reserve time. He then returned to Kansas State University after a nine-year break, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. His first job after college was working for Collins Radio Company in Richardson, TX. He worked with their high-power HF radio group as a junior engineer and accompanied six prototype transmitters to California, supervising the installation of three transmitters near Dixon, CA and three more near Delano, CA. He was in charge of about 20 technicians, numerous electricians, glazier’s and others from the local unions in California. The job took approximately two years, and each radio consumed 500,000 watts of electricity and took up about 10,000 square feet. Jim enjoyed his years in California and often visited his sister, Martha, in Alameda, CA. He also learned to fly and earned his pilot’s license during that time. Jim enjoyed flying a great deal.

Collins Radio had a contract with the United States Army Signal Corps in Vietnam, and Jim volunteered to become a supervisor of that operation. He left for Saigon in March of 1968 and remained in Vietnam until March of 1971. While there, he ran Collins Radio operations and also had a desk at the First Signal Brigade Base at Long Binh. In this role, Jim travelled all over south Vietnam, often to remote locations to enable communications across the country for various military operations. He then travelled from the northern border of south Vietnam to an island in the South China Sea. He would be transported there by helicopter, command aircraft, or a C-130 tanker. To say this job was dangerous would be an understatement. Jim had numerous technical personnel under him and also hired about a dozen Vietnamese to work in the Saigon facility.

Jim returned to the United States in March of 1973 and landed in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. With his sister Martha’s help, he made a full recovery and returned to Dallas and worked as a microwave systems engineer. Jim then took a job in a supervisory position in Alaska where he and his team provided communications to various missile sites that protected the United States from an incoming attack. Jim spent five years in Alaska and enjoyed the fishing and made many friends. He returned to Dallas in October on 1978 and worked in logistics on a TACAMO upgrade project. TACAMO is a very low frequency transmitter used in submarine radio transmissions. The following years were spent in highly classified projects for various agencies and military organizations.

Jim had operations in Puerto Rico, Panama, various South American countries, and Kuwait, wrapping up his career with a few projects in Australia. He had always wanted to retire at age 60 and in fact, was able to do so on his 60th birthday. In his retirement years, he returned to Alaska many times, as well as California and various other places. In Jim’s own words, “I had a good and exciting life!”

Survivors include: two brothers, Frank Logbeck (Marilyn) of Rose Hill, KS and Delbert Logbeck of Fort Worth, TX; one sister, Martha Exline of Laguna Hills, CA; and dear friend, Oscar Newburn of Richardson, TX; and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Sally Pattengill and Wayne Logbeck.

James was in the United States Airforce for 20 years.

Ila J. Loe, 88, Glasco, died Wednesday, September 23, 2020. She was born, September 12, 1932 in Beloit, Kansas to Orville and Mable (Cook) James.&nbsp;

Delmar and Ila were united in marriage on May 25, 1952 in North Hollywood, California.&nbsp; They were married for 52 years and had six children.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Gerald James; brother-in-law, John Kindscher; and son-in-law, Donny Griest.

Survivors are her sons, Delmar (Kathy), Douglas (Barbara), and Darrin (Mary); her daughters, Rebecca Loe, Regina (Mark) Darnall, and Roberta Griest; grandchildren, Becky (Tony) Winford, Austin and Aubrey Darnall, Cory Bronson, Nettie Lundberg, Jared (Kayla) Loe, Tyler Loe, Chance (Pesha) Ptacek, Heidi (Drew) Sprague, Adam (Margaret) Ptacek, April (David) Leonard, and Blake Loe; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Kindscher and Maxine (Don) Noah; sister-in-law, Beverly James; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne Fredrick Siemsen died at the age of 62 as a result of an auto accident March 30, 2020 in Godley, Texas. Wayne was born Sept. 27, 1957 to Helmer and Verona (Peterman) Siemsen.

Wayne graduated in 1976 from Ellsworth High School. He married Susan Snook May 26, 1982. After jobs at the local salt mine and with Missouri Pacific Railroad, he settled into a successful 32 year career in wine sales, which allowed Wayne and Susan to live in several states including New Mexico and Colorado, where they became avid snow skiers. After a move back to Lawrence, Kan., their daughter Natalie was born.

Eventually settling in Godley, Texas, Wayne and his family developed a love of animals, adopting several. Wayne was active in Natalie’s school band career, never missing a performance. Wayne loved music, photography, and was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and was thrilled to see his beloved Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, and brother, and was a friend who showed compassion to those in need. He had an infectious personality and sense of humor. Wayne gave 100 percent to life every day, and loved Susan and Natalie immensely. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan; daughter Natalie; sisters May Anderson, Ellsworth; Sandy McCoy, Mulvane; Linda Webber, Ellsworth; and brother David Siemsen, Salina.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Franklin L. Gilchrist, 78, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2020. He was born on May 18, 1942 in Garden City to Aphrodite Angeles and Louis Gilchrist and married Janette J. (Agin) Gilchrist on June 20, 1970; all of whom preceded him in death.

Frank was a 1960 graduate of Garden City High and studied at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and Kansas State University. He served in the ROTC from 1962-1963, and in the Air National Guard from 1965-1971. Frank worked as an executive for Dillons food stores and later in life owned and managed several small businesses in and around Salina.

Frank had a green thumb, and loved to share his gardenâ€™s bounty with all. He enjoyed nothing quite as much as spending a Saturday morning on the tennis court, and was especially proud of the tournaments and championships he won. â€œPhrankâ€ was the original dad-joker, and relished any opportunity to make people laugh.

Survived by: son, Lance (Alison); daughter, Carrie Gilchrist (Nils-Petter Ankarblom); brother-in-law, James Agin (Sally); nephew, Scott Agin (Kjersten); stepmother-in-law, Arlene Sias-Agin; stepbrother-in-law, Pete Sias (Ruth Moritz); stepsister-in-law, Kathleen Kelley; and beloved granddaughters, Gracelyn Gilchrist and Agnes "Aggie" Ankarblom. In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by a sister, Janett Fehrenbacher.

A private interment was held on September 21, 2020 at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family plans to hold a celebration of his life at a later date.

Jon R. Snapp, 49, of Belleville, KS, passed away on September 1, 2020 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS. Jon was born March 28, 1971 in Manhattan, KS the son of Lawrence B. Coleman, Jr., and Dianna K. (Trzicky) Snapp. Lawrence was killed in Vietnam when Jon was 4 months old and was later adopted by Thomas J. Snapp when he was 6 years old.

Jon grew up in Belleville and graduated from Belleville High School in 1989. He then attended Arizona Automotive Institute where he received degrees in diesel mechanics and automotive technology. Jon worked for Ken-Boy Motors in Hebron, NE until 1998 as a service manager and mechanic. He then owned and operated Snapp’s Service on Highway 36 in Belleville with his wife Karen for 6 years. Jon then began working for Melton Motors and was still employed there up until his cancer diagnosis. In addition to being an ASE Certified Mechanic, he was a General Motors Master Technician. In 2007, Jon was named a World Class Technician, a highly prestigious award from General Motors.

On June 27, 1993, he was united in marriage to Karen Morrissey. In 1995, Jon (at only 24 yrs. old) and Karen graciously adopted three teenage children: Jeremy, Shannon, and Amy.

Jon was an Eagle Scout and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS. He was a musician and played drums in the high school band. Jon was a self-taught craftsman. He had an amazing ability to repair or build any project you placed before him. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and in the great outdoors.

Jon was preceded in death by his biological Father, Lawrence B. Coleman, Jr; his grandparents, George &amp; Jane Trzicky and Bill &amp; Wilma Snapp; and his Father-in-Law, William Morrissey.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Snapp of Belleville, KS; Children, Jeremy R. Dr. Kenneth M. Krauter, 80, of Ellsworth, KS, died Wednesday, September 16, 2020. He was born May 28, 1940, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Howard and Minnie Krauter (Nixon).

After high school, Kenneth served his country in Korea as a peace keeper. Following his service, he went to Kansas State University. He graduated in 1967 with a degree in bacteriology and zoology, and held a doctorate degree in molecular biology with a minor in micro chemistry with a doctorate degree in microbiology. While living in Manhattan, KS, he met Kay Ensworth. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Great Bend, KS where they were married. Dr. Krauter went to work as a microbiologist for the Fuller Brush Company. The family subsequently moved to Bushton, KS where he operated his own business in the oil industry and various other ventures. Following Kay’s death, he lived in Wichita and Missouri before marrying Marilyn Blynn. The two resided in Ellsworth where Dr. Krauter worked for the hospital and with Mosaic assisting individuals with their health needs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; parents; sister, LaWanda Lower; and his stepson, Stephen Montoya. He is survived by his sister, Doris Gaeddert; his step-children, Thomas Montoya, Karen Gieselman, Theresa Parsons, Christopher Montoya, Michael Montoya,&nbsp;Paul Montoya, and Susan Julian; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

November 16, 1947~September 19, 2020(age 72)

Vickie Lynn Kaempfe was born in 1947 in Ellsworth, Kansas.  She is the daughter of Jack L. Campbell and Donna F. Ulrich Campbell. 

 Vickie attended Ellsworth grade school and high school where she graduated in 1965.  

She married William (Bill) Dean Kaempfe of Sylvan Grove, Kansas on October 18th, 1965.  

Later in life she graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. 

 Vickie and Bill made their home(s) in Goodland, Oberlin and Marion, Kansas.  They had three boys, Robby, Darrin and Brent. 

 Vickie worked as a Police Dispatcher in Goodland, Oil Field Dispatcher in Oberlin, College Recruiter in Salina and a Highway Construction Engineer for KDOT in Marion.  

Vickie always enjoyed her kids athletic and school events.  She never missed a football game, track meet or wrestling tournament.  

She always enjoyed cooking for her family and going on family trips together to Colorado and Wilson Lake. 

 She had a very close relationship with her sisters Caroline, Lynette and her brother 

Jack.  She would spend hours on the phone with them every weekend just catching up on the week’s happenings and what was going on in their lives. 

 Vickie was the oldest of the siblings and always made sure she did everything she could to take care of them. 

Vickie and Bill loved Christmas.  They have been collecting Christmas decorations and lights for years.  They have been putting up outside and inside Christmas lights and decorations for years at their home on Marion Lake.  Each year they would get lines of cars coming by to see their lights and decorations and serve hot chocolate and Christmas goodies to the people coming by to view. 

 Vickie also enjoyed cooking and baking and in her retirement, she volunteered at the Marion Senior Citizen Center preparing meals and delivering Meals on Wheels.  She also volunteered at the Marion Food Bank.  

Vickie and Bill were active in the Marion Lutheran Church. 

Vickie loved her family.  She is survived by: spouse(William Dean Kaempfe), sons Robby Dean Kaempfe and wife Jill(Whitaker). Darrin Wade Kaempfe and wife Robyn(Clarke).  Brent Lee Kaempfe and wife Dee Ann(Steinbring).  She is also survived by siblings Caroline(Johnson), Lynette(Vondra) and Jack Campbell.  Grandkids Remington, Hannah, Taylor, Madison, Mateo, Abigail, Alexandra and Ashlyn, Jack, Ashley, Kristian, Miranda and Vaughn Koch and his wife Brooke.  She has two great grandsons, Westen, Gannon and a third great grandson due November 5th. 

Vickie and Bill were married for 54 years and on their 50th Anniversary, they took a cruise with family to Belize, Rattan and Cozumel to Celebrate. 

 She courageously battled cancer for 4 years and left this earth with her family close.  She loved and she was loved. 

Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion led by Pastor John Werner.  Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion is serving the family. Vickie and Bill made their home(s) in Goodland, Oberlin and Marion, Kansas. They had three boys, Robby, Darrin and Brent. Vickie worked as a Police Dispatcher in Goodland, Oil Field Dispatcher in Oberlin, College Recruiter in Salina and a Highway Construction Engineer for KDOT in Marion. Vickie always enjoyed her kids athletic and school events. She never missed a football game, track meet or wrestling tournament. She always enjoyed cooking for her family and going on family trips together to Colorado and Wilson Lake. She had a very close relationship with her sisters Caroline, Lynette and her brother Jack. She would spend hours on the phone with them every weekend just catching up on the week’s happenings and what was going on in their lives. Vickie was the oldest of the siblings and always made sure she did everything she could to take care of them. Vickie and Bill loved Christmas. They have been collecting Christmas decorations and lights for years. They have been putting up outside and inside Christmas lights and decorations for years at their home on Marion Lake. Each year they would get lines of cars coming by to see their lights and decorations and serve hot chocolate and Christmas goodies to the people coming by to view. Vickie also enjoyed cooking and baking and in her retirement, she volunteered at the Marion Senior Citizen Center preparing meals and delivering Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered at the Marion Food Bank. Vickie and Bill were active in the Marion Lutheran Church. Vickie loved her family. She is survived by: spouse(William Dean Kaempfe), sons Robby Dean Kaempfe and wife Jill(Whitaker). Darrin Wade Kaempfe and wife Robyn(Clarke). Brent Lee Kaempfe and wife Dee Ann(Steinbring). She is also survived by siblings Caroline(Johnson), Lynette(Vondra) and Jack Campbell. Grandkids Remington, Hannah, Taylor, Madison, Mateo, Abigail, Alexandra and Ashlyn, Jack, Ashley, Kristian, Miranda and Vaughn Koch and his wife Brooke. She has two great grandsons, Westen, Gannon and a third great grandson due November 5th. Vickie and Bill were married for 54 years and on their 50th Anniversary, they took a cruise with family to Belize, Rattan and Cozumel to Celebrate. She courageously battled cancer for 4 years and left this earth with her family close. She loved and she was loved. Loren Tregellas, 39, passed away September 16, 2020. He was born in Wichita to Becky (Zadina) Choitz and Phillip Tregellas.

Loren enjoyed flying remote control airplanes with his grandpa, iron work, and driving in the demolition derby.

He is survived by his parents; son, Emil Tregellas; stepbrother, Kevin Choitz; and many loving aunts, uncles, and friends.

Kenneth Bruce Summers, 68, of Salina, passed away September 19, 2020. Ken was born November 2, 1951 in Salina, to Herb and Dorothy Summers.

Ken lived an amazing life while often putting others before himself and making sure his family lived an even better life and opportunities than he had. He was a proud graduate of Salina High in 1969, a school where he met the love of his life. Ken spent most of his working years managing grain elevators in many different cities and states. He also had the privilege of being elected as a city councilman while in St. John, KS. In his early years, Ken could often be found traveling the Mid-West with some of his best friends playing in weekend Putt-Putt tournaments. Later in life, he traded those weekend tournaments for weekend trips to play poker, see his grandkids, watching the Chiefs, and spending time with his wife.

Ken is survived by his wife Betty Sue (Heck), daughter Stacy, and son Bruce (Mary Beth) along with three grandkids, Karsen and Conley Summers and Simone Kitchens. Additionally, he is survived by five siblings (Jim, Linda, Becky, Cathy, and Jeanie) and many other caring family and friends.

Visitation services will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St, Salina, KS. There will then be a graveside service at 10 a.m. at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, 2020 E. Larry E. Garrione Sr., 79, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on September 17, 2020.

Larry is survived by his brother Greg Garrione, his children Becky (Bill) Braden, Tracy (Sherry) Garrione, Stephanie (Mike) Bell-Martinez, Serena (John) Heil, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Josephine Garrione, his brothers Fr. Robert and Gilbert Garrione, and his eldest Son Larry Garrione Jr.

Services will be held at Ryan Mortuary on Wednesday, September 23rd at 10 a.m.

Survivors include her son James Rogers of Aurora, CO; 3 daughters; Jacque Abell of Phillipsburg, KS, Denise Miller of Gardner, KS &amp; Renita May of Wellington, KS; her sister, Doris Schumann of Lawrence, KS; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren &amp; 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Dennis Haarer officiating. Donald L. Phelps, 85, of Salina, passed away surrounded by family and friends, Monday, September 21, 2020.

Donald Phelps was a former truck driver, and courier for Conklin cars.

He is survived by his wife Linda L. Phelps, also survived by his sons Michael D. Phelps, Steven R. Phelps and wife Christine A. Phelps of Delavan WI., Bryan Scott Phelps and his wife Jill D. Phelps, and daughter Crystal D. Phelps and sister Cheryl Oleson of Oregon.

Don had seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his father George L. Phelps and his mother Edna I. Phelps. Also his son Jeffery Allen Phelps, and a brother Jerry A. Phelps.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Larry Allen Walle, 77, passed away Sunday, September 20 at Salina Regional Health Center. 

Born on April 6, 1943 in Salina, Larry grew up on the family farm near Culver, Kansas. It was there that he became an avid outdoorsman, and especially loved fishing. In addition, Larry learned to play trumpet by ear, and if he heard a song once, he could play it&nbsp;beautifully. He went on to become an accomplished, talented and well-known trumpet player throughout the Salina area. 

At the age of 18, in 1961, Larry became a firefighter with the Salina Fire Department. Soon after, he served his country during the Vietnam War, joining the US Navy, stationed aboard the USS Constellation. In the Navy, Larry served as Machinist Mate and was invited to join the prestigious bugle corp. Upon his return from the Navy, Larry met and married the love of his life, Diane. Until the day he died, he would tell anyone she was the most beautiful woman in the world. Larry became a loving dad to her daughter, Michelle, and together Larry and Diane had four sons: Craig, Michael, Eric and Mark. Soon after Craig was born, the family relocated to McPherson, where Larry became Captain with the McPherson Fire Department. While Captain, he received a commendation for a flood water rescue in which he risked his own life to save the lives of two young boys.

Larry was also a talented carpenter and drywall specialist, and enjoyed working part time with Joe Miller Construction Company. Larry and Diane also designed their own home, which Larry built himself. Eventually, the family returned to Salina, where Larry became a master group machinist with Phillip's Lighting, retiring there in 2010. Larry was known for his outspoken personality, positive attitude and sense of humor. Wherever Larry went, he touched many lives, and was a friend, mentor and inspiration to so many.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Geneva Walle, his brother, Eugene Walle, and his nephew, James Curtis Walle.

He is survived by his sister, Joanne Potts. Larry will be dearly missed by his wife, Diane; his daughter, Michelle Lilly; his sons, Craig, Michael, Eric and Mark; his grandchildren;

Adrian Stafford, Tristan Lilly, Grace Walle, Theresa (Tess) Walle, Regan Walle and Vivian Walle; and his great grandsons, Brenden Schell, Jaden Stafford, and Julian Stafford.

Friends and family are invited to a rosary on Larry's behalf, to begin at 6 pm Wednesday, September 23 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with a visitation to follow. Larry's funeral will be held Thursday, September 24, at 10 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Internment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Salina, with military burial honors presented by the U.S. Navy.

Ben was a longtime resident of Ellsworth, KS where he worked primarily in manufacturing.
