June Marie Tuma, the daughter of Walter D. and Nellie (Dickerman) Galey, was born on June 21, 1926 at Arkansas City, Kansas. She passed away on July 30, 2021, at the Belleville Health Care Center, at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 9 days.

June graduated from Belleville High School, class of 1945, and was baptized into the Central Christian Church, where she was a lifelong member. She volunteered at the Belleville Health Care Center and the Golden Bell Haven.

On March 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ernie Lewis Tuma in Concordia, Kansas, and to this union, one daughter was born.

June is preceded in death by her husband on March 20, 1994, her parents, two brothers, Lehem and Walter Jr., and two sisters, Thelma and Gale. June is also preceded in death by her daughter Beverly on March 3, 2013, son-in-law Junior Boyer on November 5, 1990, and son-in-law Don Peters on May 19, 2018.

She is survived by her granddaughter Karen Morgan and her husband Carlos of Wichita, grandson Randy Boyer of Belleville, six great-grandchildren, Mariah, Amber, Andre, Angely, Armond and Alecio, and two great-great grandchildren, Evie and Flynn.

Visitation will be Monday, August 2d, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m., at the Central Christian Church in Belleville, with Pastor Jacob Rice officiating. Burial will follow at the Belleville City Cemetery.

Cecil Leslie Haney, 80, of Salina, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021. He was born October 1, 1940 at Olney, Oklahoma, to Earlon Leslie Haney and Adel Haney.&nbsp;

 Cecil graduated from Bromide High School, Oklahoma&nbsp; in 1958, and moved to Johnson, KS after graduation. From 1961 to 1963 he served in the United State Army.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a police officer for the Garden City Police Department from 1966 to 1969. Cecil and Family then moved to Salina where Cecil worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe, for thirty years, retiring in 2003.&nbsp; Cecil was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 62 where he served as post commander for two terms, 40 &amp; 8 of Olathe, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and The Railroad Retirees.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Douglass Haney and William F. Haney. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothy (Owen) Haney of the home; sons Scott Bradley and wife Denna Haney, Lakin, KS, Peter C.L. Haney Jr., and significant other Diana Goheen, Wells, KS and Michael Todd and wife Michelle Haney, Ulysses, KS; grandchildren Bradley, Wamego, KS, Garrett and Maureen Haney, Littelton CO, Tyler Haney and Emily Gutierrez, El Dorado, KS, Shayne Haney and Brooke Banks, Wells, KS, Luke and Catherine Haney, Hays, KS, Montana and Kaiya Maas, Lakin, KS, and Cora-Renae, Lakin, KS; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters Louise Broyles, Ulysses, KS, Shirley Gleason, Salina, KS, and Barbara and Steve Wiens, Haysville, KS; sisters-in-law Sarah Haney, Atoka, OK, Beverley Haney, Greeley, CO and Lina Brown, Manhattan, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wilda J. Hustus, 84 of Salina, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021.&nbsp; She was born March 11, 1937, in Alcona Township, Rooks County, Kansas.

Wilda worked as a bookkeeper for years at various businesses in the Salina area.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willis C., and Bertha A. (Stewart) Cook, her husband Alfred Hustus, his brother Lloyd Cook,&nbsp; sister Leona Kellogg, and nephew Wendell Kellogg.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Emelia) Hustus of Bremerton, WA, Brenda (Steve) Ward of Salina and Ronald (Debbie) Hustus of Gypsum, four grandchildren, Nichole Bowden, Eric Ward, Andrew Ward and Jessica Hustus, two great-grandchildren, Camryn Bowden, and Kylee Bowden and one great-great grandchild, Bella Hyden.

Wilda will always be remembered for the sound of her beautiful voice.&nbsp; One of Wilda’s passions was her love of singing, whether it be with the church choir or the years she sang with the Sweet Adelines Chorus.&nbsp; Her beautiful voice was always to be heard.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E. Neal, Salina.&nbsp;

Logan resident Kathy “Kate” White passed away Friday, July 30, 2021,&nbsp; at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, NE at the age of 67.

She was born May 6, 1954, in Concordia, KS the daughter of Laverne and
 Suzy (Motes) Monty.&nbsp; She worked as the social and activities director 
for the Logan Manor in Logan, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Rodney White on August 18, 1972 in Beloit, Kansas.&nbsp; He survives.

Other survivors include her sons J.R. and wife Michelle of Grove, OK 
and Phillip of Sigurd, UT; four grandchildren; two brothers Arnold 
Williams and wife Bonnie of Logan and Doug Monty and wife Dee of Beloit;
 and a half sister Mary JoAnn Ertl and husband Loren of Hope, KS.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021 
at the Logan Christian Church with Pastor Troy Buss officiating.&nbsp; The

Walter Klaus Suhr, 93, of Salina, was called to his eternal home Wednesday, July 28, 2021.&nbsp; He was born to August and Margaret Suhr in Freiburg Elber, Germany, on December 10, 1927.

Walter grew up in West Germany during World War II where he worked in several different fields: farming, steel construction work, and submarine building. He met his true love, Ingrid, in 1953 and they were married on Nov. 27, 1954. She passed away in 2016.

Walter retired from his position as the production coordinator at Premier Pneumatics in 1993 and spent his retirement years traveling, camping, attending his grandkids' sporting events, and spending time with family and friends. 

Although he was a quiet man, within that quietness was a strength that his family always knew they could count on. He was a jack of all trades, always tinkering away at something, whether it was building a house addition, creating beautiful metal art work, sewing beloved Christmas tree skirts, or baking cookies, he put hard work and love into everything he did. The world would be a better place if there were more people like him. A loving dad, grandpa, opa, and onkel, he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by&nbsp; son Fred (Sara) Suhr of McAllen Texas; daughters Shirley (Randy) Rice, of Prosperity S.C., and Jennifer (Shannon) Luthi, of Solomon; grandchildren Roxanne Suhr, Randi (Jamie) Smith,&nbsp; Ethan, Emily and Evan Thompson, and Tristen (Marcus) Denham and Travis Luthi; great-grandson Kalum Denham; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from Monday evening from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A celebration of his life will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, where he was a member.

Ruth J. Strecker, 83, Salina, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was born January 18, 1938, in Topeka to Jacob and Amelia (Schiffelbein) Rohr.

Ruth was a homemaker prior to working for Western Auto as a bin filler for 25 years.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; She volunteered for several charities and organizations after retirement.&nbsp; Some of those included Sacred Heart High School, St. Mary’s Grade School, Sunflower Adult Day Care, and Emergency Aid Food Bank.&nbsp; She also spent many hours making over 30,000 rosaries that benefited people around the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 53 years, Carl; brother Jake; sister Marilyn; granddaughter Taylor; and son-in-law Brian Pickering. She was a devout wife, loving mother and awesome grandma and great-grandma. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include two sons, Steve and wife Jolan of Pratt, and Greg and wife Laura of Hutchinson; two daughters, Cheryl Pickering, and Laurie Doll and husband Barry, both of Salina; eight grandchildren, Nicole Crouch (Justin), Jake Strecker (Rachel), Bryce and Maddy Strecker, Hannah, Maggie, Luke and Kelsey Doll; two great-grandchildren, Aniston and Jackson Crouch; three step-grandchildren, Curtis and Ben Pickering and April Saskowski; and seven great-step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with a vigil service at 7.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with burial at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.

Orin Shogren died July 29, 2021 surrounded by his family in his home. He was born September&nbsp;10, 1931 to Howard and Berneice (Linderholm) Shogren in McPherson and grew up in&nbsp;Lindsborg, Kansas. He was one of eight siblings. Orin grew up in Lindsborg and joined the Marines in 1951 and was honorably discharged in&nbsp;1953. Once discharged, he returned to Bethany, Kansas and attended Bethany College, where&nbsp;he met Dorothy McCormick. They married in 1957 and were happily married for 64 years. Orin&nbsp;graduated Bethany College with a business degree in accounting in 1957. He worked with&nbsp;Solomon Corporation as a controller. Orin and Dorothy had two sons, Mark and Dale(deceased). He and his wife Dorothy played an&nbsp;integral part in their faith and traveled extensively after his children were grown, travelling to&nbsp;Europe, Canada, Alaska, and the Caribbean, amongst other destinations. He supported his children as they grew up and continued to support his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in&nbsp;their endeavors throughout his life. Orin was known for his fun wood working projects, especially his Halloween figurines that were&nbsp;handed out to children in lieu of candy, as well as his extensive M&amp;M collectables. He enjoyed&nbsp;playing golf with friends and watching it on TV with his family. His sweet tooth was incorrigible&nbsp;and was regularly seen finding a molasses cookie, eating ostakaka with lingonberries, or adding&nbsp;whipped cream to many of Dorothy’s delicious pies.

Orin is preceded in death by his son Dale of Edmond, Oklahoma, and daughter-in-law Rita of&nbsp;Satanta, Kansas. On Tuesday July 27, 2021, Joshua Paul Stock, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend to all passed away at the age of 31 at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Joshua was born on January 30, 1990, in Salina, Kansas to Paul and Marcia Stock. Born and raised in Salina, Joshua attended and graduated from Salina South High School in 2008. &nbsp;After high school, he went on to attend Kansas State University where he graduated with three degrees. 

His lifelong passion was to fly airplanes. From Piper Cubs to A320 class planes, he loved them all.&nbsp; Joshua was a very talented and skilled pilot who flew and was type-rated in many different aircraft including: the Beech 300 Super King air, several Cessna Citation jet models, sea planes, and most recently the Airbus A320.

From the beginning, Joshua was a beacon of light to all who knew him, a characteristic that followed him through his amazing life. &nbsp;From a young age, Joshua had a dream of flying, a dream he made come true with hard work and determination. Through his accomplishments as a pilot, he was able to travel the world and visit many places around the globe. &nbsp;All who knew and loved him were lucky enough to see the world through his pictures and stories. He will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his kind and generous spirit, and his passionate love for flying, assembling Legos, and spending time with his family and friends.&nbsp;

Left to mourn Joshua’s passing are his father and mother Paul, and Marcia Stock, brother Levi (Madison) Stock, niece Ella, grandmothers Lola Stock and Gaylene Holland, aunts and uncles Christy Stock, Sharie Gillund, Bill (Becky) Stock, Sondra (Art) Bailey, Adonica Holland, many loving cousins, and all his many friends who love him dearly.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Glenda Mummert, daughter Sherri (Chris) Davis of Valley Center, and son Gary Mummert of Wichita, a half-sister, Diana King of Hutchinson, and a stepbrother, Greg McPherson, of Platte City, MO, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Robert Dennis Bartel, 75, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:32 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2021 peacefully at McPherson Hospital. Bob was born in Goessel, Kansas on May 5, 1946, a son of Roland J. and Matilda Emma (Rempel) Bartel. Bob attended Lehigh grade school and graduated from Lehigh High School, Lehigh, Kansas in 1964. He then attended and graduated from Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, McPherson. Through the years Bob owned and operated Bartel Insurance Company, McPherson, Kansas for 22 years. Later he went back to school and got his teaching degree and taught at Hillsboro High School for a number of years until he retired in 2008. After retirement Robert and his sister-in-law owned and operated LB Estate Sales, Newton, Kansas. Bob really enjoyed life, along with cars, trains, airplanes, museums, reading, art, music, talking with people, telling stories, anything his children and grandchildren were involved in. He loved to laugh, and spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids. Robert D. Bartel was united in marriage to Sharon E. Goossen on August 24, 1968 in Hillsboro, Kansas. This young couple established their first home together in North Newton, Kansas. The couple was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters, Shaun, Sheri, Shannon and Sheldon. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sharon Bartel of McPherson, Kansas; his children Shaun Bartel and his wife Debra, of Newton, Kansas, Sheri Lepard and her husband Alan of Sylvania, Ohio, Shannon Bartel of Newton, Kansas and Sheldon Bartel and his wife Spring of McPherson, Kansas; his brother John Bartel and his wife Lila of Topeka, Kansas; and his sister Mary Johnson and her husband Bill of North Newton, Kansas. Bob was born in Goessel, Kansas on May 5, 1946, a son of Roland J. and Matilda Emma (Rempel) Bartel. Bob attended Lehigh grade school and graduated from Lehigh High School, Lehigh, Kansas in 1964. He then attended and graduated from Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, McPherson. Through the years Bob owned and operated Bartel Insurance Company, McPherson, Kansas for 22 years. Later he went back to school and got his teaching degree and taught at Hillsboro High School for a number of years until he retired in 2008. After retirement Robert and his sister-in-law owned and operated LB Estate Sales, Newton, Kansas. Bob really enjoyed life, along with cars, trains, airplanes, museums, reading, art, music, talking with people, telling stories, anything his children and grandchildren were involved in. He loved to laugh, and spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids. Robert D. Bartel was united in marriage to Sharon E. Goossen on August 24, 1968 in Hillsboro, Kansas. This young couple established their first home together in North Newton, Kansas. The couple was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters, Shaun, Sheri, Shannon and Sheldon. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sharon Bartel of McPherson, Kansas; his children Shaun Bartel and his wife Debra, of Newton, Kansas, Sheri Lepard and her husband Alan of Sylvania, Ohio, Shannon Bartel of Newton, Kansas and Sheldon Bartel and his wife Spring of McPherson, Kansas; his brother John Bartel and his wife Lila of Topeka, Kansas; and his sister Mary Johnson and her husband Bill of North Newton, Kansas. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren Sarah Bartel, Megan Bartel, Nick Lepard, Markus Lepard, Haylen Bartel, Jaxson Bartel and Xander Bartel. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Michael C. Perez, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in Kanopolis, KS. He was born December 8, 1944 in Ellsworth, KS to Isabelle “Mike” and Carrie (Grise) Perez.

After graduating from Kanopolis High School, Michael joined the United States Navy and served his country during in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart after suffering an injury in combat as well as a Bronze Star and was a lifetime member of the former Kanopolis American Legion, now part of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174. He also enjoyed his rides with his EBL brothers. 

Michael was a longtime resident of Niles, KS, settling there with his wife, Nancy (Pickering) Perez.

Michael is survived by his brother Dale Perez (Velma) of Gypsum, KS; sister Mary Tripp (Jimmy) of Spring Hill, LA; step-grandsons Drew and Evan; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Nancy Perez; brother Ronald Grise; and sisters Frances Tripp, Georgia Rodriguez, Juanita Perez, and Isabelle “Bonnie” Tripp.

Visitation: 1-7 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, followed by a vigil and rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

Jamie loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed hot rods and racing. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends and family. 

Jamie is survived by his parents Charles and Sue Holloway; brother Brian and wife Dawn Holloway of Abilene; two nephews, Tyler and Cooper Holloway; two uncles, Bill Rutz and Mike and wife Ranada Rutz ;as well as numerous cousins and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Robert and Anna Holloway and maternal grandparents Willis and Carol Rutz; uncle Robert Jr. Holloway;&nbsp; aunt Bobby Ann Brenton; and his loving dog Daisy.

Von is survived by his friend Alma Dean, and daughters Deana and Kelli; six grandchildren, Brandon, Brayden, and Brett Mosher, Kaleb and Peyton Wood, and Cale Bruce; two step-granddaughters, Kylee Boone and Joette Sargent; and five step-great- grandchildren. &nbsp;

Von loved his family, who were the light of his life.&nbsp; He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved all outdoor activities.

Von has chosen to donate his body to the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the KU Medical Center.&nbsp; The family will have a private celebration of life for their beloved father and grandfather. &nbsp;

Mary Ellen (Yoder) Howell, a pillar of the Monitor Church community west of McPherson, KS, entered eternal rest in her residence at the Cedars on July 27, 2021. She was 89 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Wally Howell (2005); their oldest child Mark Harold Howell (2011); and her brother Bob Yoder (1984).

She is survived by Mark’s wife Nancy (Heath) Howell and their two sons, Andrew Joseph and Benjamin Wallace, of Wichita Falls, Texas; her daughter Kathy Howell of Corvallis, Oregon; her son Matthew and daughter-in-law Tina Howell of Greenfield, Massachusetts; and her daughter Amy and son-in-law Jay Warner of rural McPherson, Kansas. She is also survived by her brother’s wife Elsie, their four daughters--Janet, Rebecca, Gail, and Karen--and their families. Mary Ellen was born in McPherson on April 28, 1932, the second child of Dayton and Hazel (Kessler) Yoder, and was raised in the home that she would live in for almost eighty years, less than half a mile south of the Monitor Church of the Brethren in Groveland Township of McPherson County. As a girl, she attended school for eight years in a one-room schoolhouse that she could walk to from her home. While attending McPherson High School in the late 40s, she stayed in town with relatives and friends of the family and graduated at the top of her class in 1950. She went on to McPherson College for her first two undergraduate years and then transferred to Kansas State, where she met Wally on a blind date during their senior year. Mary Ellen graduated summa cum laude from K-State in 1954 with a major in botany. That fall, she began a very short-lived public school teaching career at Conway Springs High School, resigning that position before marrying Wally at the Monitor Church on November 20, 1954. As his new bride, Mary Ellen was able to join Wally when he was sent to Germany as a lieutenant with the U.S. Army. Mary Ellen gave birth to their first child, Mark, at an Army hospital in Würzburg. When the young family returned to Kansas in 1956, Mary Ellen’s parents moved to another farm house a few miles north, so that she and Wally could establish their home where Mary Ellen had been raised, a house built in the early 1900s by the brother of her grandfather, J.J. Yoder. Wally began farming with Mary Ellen’s father, growing wheat and milo on approximately 1000 acres of land. For the first twenty years or so, they also raised livestock: beef cattle, pigs, and chickens. As a mother, Mary Ellen was always there for her four children--Mark (born in 1955), Kathy (born in 1958), Matthew (born in 1962), and Amy (born in 1965)--sending them off to school every day with the parting words, “Mommy loves you, Jesus is near, and don’t forget to be kind.” These essential values were reinforced by Mary Ellen’s devotion to Bible study and prayer at home, as well as her kindness and outreach to neighbors and visitors to Monitor, often inviting them home after church for Sunday dinner.

Mary Ellen loved to have the family gather around the piano to sing hymns, as well as old and new popular songs. Along with instilling a love of music, she shared her passion for lifelong learning by involving her children in the local 4-H club and taking her family on Kansas history tours. Wally and Mary Ellen also passed on their values of hard work and resourcefulness by involving their children directly in many of the chores and fieldwork of the farm. A community leader in many areas related to church and education, Mary Ellen proudly carried on the tradition of the Monitor Farm Bureau Unit that her mother started in 1929, even as its name changed from the Monitor Farm Bureau Unit to the Monitor Home Demonstration Unit, then to the Monitor Extension Unit, and now the Monitor Family Community Education (FCE) Unit. She was instrumental in starting the Vacation Bible School program at Monitor in 1970, and sustaining it through the many decades to follow. At the Monitor Church, Mary Ellen was both a Bible School and Sunday School teacher, as well as accompanist on the piano and organ, collaborating for many decades with Arlene Yoder. Mary Ellen’s role of church musician at Monitor started when she was still a teenager and continued until she was well into her 80s. The family farm tradition, which began with Mary Ellen’s grandfather in the early 1900s, continues to this day, with Amy and Jay Warner (her daughter and son-in-law) managing what is now a “Century Farm.” In 1996, Wally and Mary Ellen received statewide recognition as Master Farmer/Master Farm Homemaker, acknowledging their stewardship of the land and farm community. In 2004, Mary Ellen was awarded the Citation of Merit from McPherson College in recognition of her lifetime achievements and contributions. In 2012, Mary Ellen made a smooth transition into the Cedars retirement community, where she knew many of her neighbors even before she moved in, including her childhood friend and cousin, Lois Neher, who passed away earlier this year. Life in town suited her well at this stage of her life, and she participated actively in a variety of activities and programs at the Cedars, while continuing to attend lectures, concerts, and plays at the college. On August 2, a memorial service will be held at the Monitor Church (please wear a mask), beginning at 5:30 p.m. and followed by a light meal to which all are invited. Mary Ellen will be laid to rest afterwards in the church cemetery, next to her husband Wally, and in close proximity to her son Mark, great-grandfather J.D. Yoder, and many other relatives and friends. She was 89 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Wally Howell (2005); their oldest child Mark Harold Howell (2011); and her brother Bob Yoder (1984). She is survived by Mark’s wife Nancy (Heath) Howell and their two sons, Andrew Joseph and Benjamin Wallace, of Wichita Falls, Texas; her daughter Kathy Howell of Corvallis, Oregon; her son Matthew and daughter-in-law Tina Howell of Greenfield, Massachusetts; and her daughter Amy and son-in-law Jay Warner of rural McPherson, Kansas. She is also survived by her brother’s wife Elsie, their four daughters--Janet, Rebecca, Gail, and Karen--and their families. Mary Ellen was born in McPherson on April 28, 1932, the second child of Dayton and Hazel (Kessler) Yoder, and was raised in the home that she would live in for almost eighty years, less than half a mile south of the Monitor Church of the Brethren in Groveland Township of McPherson County. As a girl, she attended school for eight years in a one-room schoolhouse that she could walk to from her home. While attending McPherson High School in the late 40s, she stayed in town with relatives and friends of the family and graduated at the top of her class in 1950. She went on to McPherson College for her first two undergraduate years and then transferred to Kansas State, where she met Wally on a blind date during their senior year. Mary Ellen graduated summa cum laude from K-State in 1954 with a major in botany. That fall, she began a very short-lived public school teaching career at Conway Springs High School, resigning that position before marrying Wally at the Monitor Church on November 20, 1954. As his new bride, Mary Ellen was able to join Wally when he was sent to Germany as a lieutenant with the U.S. Army. Mary Ellen gave birth to their first child, Mark, at an Army hospital in Würzburg. James “Jim” Alton Brown, age 84, died July 26, 2021 in Manhattan, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born to Louie D. and Velda M. (Dennis) Brown on September 26, 1936 on the family farm near Agra, Kansas. 

Jim attended his first four years of grade school at Center School and finished the last four years at Agra Consolidated Grade School. He graduated from Agra Consolidated High School and joined the Kansas National Guard from 1954 to 1962. Jim was a 1959 graduated of Kansas State University earning a degree in feed tech. 

He married Carol Lala on October 15, 1960. 

Jim worked for Garvey Grain, California Pellet Mill Co., Supersweet Feeds, Courtland Construction, Key Milling Co., and Fourth &amp; Pomeroy Associates. He retired in 1999 as principal owner of Key Feeds in Clay Center, Kansas.&nbsp; 

Jim and his wife Carol volunteered for International Executive Service Corp., where they spent six weeks in Egypt in 1991 and six weeks in Ukraine in 1994. He was active in the community and served on the Clay Center Development Board, president of the Clay Center Chamber of Commerce in 1987, and served 11 years on the City Council. Jim was on the Dean’s Advisory Council Kansas State University College of Ag, Milton S. Eisenhower Society Kansas State University, and a lifetime member of the KSU Alumni Association. He won the Outstanding Grain Science Graduate Award in 2010.&nbsp; 

Jim was heavily involved in the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where he served as &nbsp;a Eucharistic Minister, Vestry, Reader, and the Altar Guild. &nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his parents and on Steven Brond.
