Nathen A. Bailey was born February 13, 1927 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of James and Anna (Lee) Bailey. He attended local schools until serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a farmer first and a law enforcement officer, and for 20 years was a heavy equipment operator for Marion County. He was a life member of the VFW in Tampa and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. On October 17, 1953 he was united in marriage to Estelle Virleen Barrett in Florence, Kansas. She passed away on June 26, 1993.

Survivors include his daughter Kathleen Ann Bailey of Wichita, Mary Margaret Bailey-Metz of Ramona, sons Kevin Bailey of Abilene, Brendon Bailey of Ramona, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his sons Collin, Sean, and infant son Damian Bailey, two brothers, three sisters, and his parents. Nathen passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Memorial Hospital in Abilene.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Lewis Cemetery near Ramona with Reverend Clark Davis officiating. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home Wednesday, and Thursday until 5:00 p.m.

Jolene Marie Foley passed away peacefully on September 27, 2021 while at Kenwood Nursing Home at 66 years, 9 months and 30 days of age. She was born to Theophile Marcotte, Jr. (Junior) and Ermalina Rudell on November 28, 1954 in Oakley, Kansas. After that marriage dissolved, Nadene took over the role of mother when she married Junior in 1957.

After Jolene graduated from Oakley High School in 1973, she moved to Salina, Kansas, where she met and married William “Bill” Foley on May 22, 1976. During their 45 year marriage they had three children.

Jolene worked a variety of jobs in Salina, often more than one at a time until her health declined. She was very involved in Special Olympics of Salina and served as treasurer for many years. Jolene was also known as the best hostess to many WWE Wrestling&nbsp; pay per view parties for James and friends.

The title she most treasured was Mom and Grandma Jo. Jolene was happy being a mother but when she became a grandmother, she was over the moon happy. She lit up whenever she spoke of Aaron, Aiden, Ansen and Chevelle Everett.

She was preceded in death by her parents Junior and Nadene Marcotte; sisters Betty Marcotte Gaydusek and Linda Marcotte Greenlee; stillborn brother Richard Neil; and brother Randy Huffman.

Jolene is survived by her husband Bill; children Rachel Everett (Ace), Hutchinson, KS, and James and Jessica Foley, of the home; grandchildren Ansen, Aiden, Aaron and Chevelle Everett; sister Karen Marcotte Foster (Curtis), LaVista, NE; brother Bill Huffman, Oakley; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be 1-5 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family present from 3-5. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, October 4, at Ryan Mortuary. Interment will be at a later date at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.

Betty was married in January 1945 to Wayne Ayers. She was a housewife and mother. Later she was a seamstress and did alternations. Betty loved sewing, and dancing with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters June Darling and Dorothy Leassor; and brother Don Bisby.

Survivors include her son Charles “Charlie” Ayers; daughter Alice Ryan (John); grandchildren Matthew (Brianna) Patrick (Emily); great-grandson Maverick John Ryan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Webb was married to E. Deane Percival (Deceased) and is survived by his sister Lavonne Woody, Salina; his three children, Deborah Cheswick of Salina, Dennis Webb (Marsha) of Wichita, and Rebecca Mettlen (Dell) of Salina; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. All were blessed by his wit, humor, wisdom and love. In his last years, he was a faithful member of Salina Mennonite Church, and a friend to many. Bernie (Bernard) Dean Mohr was born on July 28, 1943, in Chester, Nebraska, the son of Edward and Odessa (Smith) Mohr. 

Bernie grew up in Chester and graduated from Chester High School. Following high school, Bernie enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1964. Later, Bernie attended Brown Mackie College, earning his degree in business. Bernie worked for M-C Industries for over 30 years and at Reinke Manufacturing, where he retired as the purchasing manager.

On July 25, 1965, Bernie was united in marriage to Betty (Elizabeth) Feasel, and to this union of 56 years, two daughters were born, Amy and Angie.

Bernie was a lifelong member of the Chester and Belleville Methodist churches, and he also served his community as a member of the Belleville City Council and the Belleville Public Library Board. He enjoyed working in his yard, watching westerns, listening to country music, and watching Dallas Cowboys football games. Bernie especially loved watching his grandchildren grow up and attending their many events.

Bernie passed away at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville with Betty and his girls by his side, on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 28 days.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Duane “Pic” Mohr and his wife Arlene, brother-in-law Bert Nelson, brother-in-law Bob Feasel and his wife Mary Lou, Betty’s parents, Ralph and Beulah Feasel, aunt and uncle Arlene and Herman Baloun, and niece and nephew, Shirley and Vic Hann.

Bernie is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Amy Schaffer and her husband Bob of Scottsdale, Arizona, daughter Angie Galindo and her husband Keith of Olathe, grandchildren Ally Schaffer, Nick Schaffer, Jack Schaffer, and Max Galindo. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Gary Feasel and his wife Marilyn, sister-in-law Dian Haldorson and her husband Glen, sister-in-law Marge Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Christian Church in Belleville. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Detail.

Friends may sign Bernie’s register book on Friday, October 1, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville.

Craig Allen Farwell was born on June 29, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of William and Patricia Buffington Farwell. He died suddenly on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 62.

Craig grew up around Beloit, where he graduated from high school in 1977. Following graduation, he attended Beloit Vo-Tech in the auto mechanics program.

He grew up around the carpet and paint store that his father operated, Farwell and Sons, and learned the flooring trade from his father. He continued in the field for 40 plus years. He was a very hard worker, as he also sided houses, and remodeled homes.

Craig was very loving, and dedicated his life to taking care of his son Jordan. He was also an avid sports fan, and would always watch his KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs. Craig was a member of the Beloit First United Methodist Church. He remained friends with his former wife, Donna, and they enjoyed their time together going places, and attending church.

Craig is survived by his sons Jacob and Jordan, both of Beloit; his step-children Jaime Lewis and husband Jeff, and Jeremy Sanborn; step-grandchildren Ella Sanborn, and Paxon, Pressley, and Phoenix Lewis; his brother Curt and his wife Rhonda of Beloit; nieces and nephews Reece and Tori; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 28 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, September 27 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. 

Memorials may be given to the National Association for Down Syndrome.

Pierre retired from the U.S. Air Force after proudly serving for 20 years.&nbsp; He went on to be the town marshal in Hope, KS and a golf pro in California and Abilene.&nbsp; Pierre loved big band music and enjoyed playing the keyboard and accordion, in his younger years. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Raymond Meyer.

Pierre is survived by his wife Terri Carpentier; children Robbie Carpentier, David Carpentier, Shawn Carpentier; siblings Bill Meyer, Bonnie Miller, Joyce Poskey, David Meyer, Kenny Meyer, Jim Meyer, Robert Carpentier, Regine Debrie, Jeannie Schoelcher;&nbsp; grandchildren Christopher, Samuel, Samantha, Carrie, Angela, Heather, Adam, Austin, and Kristen; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members. &nbsp;

Helen Elaine Smith, 103, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021. Helen was born in Richter, Kansas on July 16, 1918, a daughter of the late Ethelyn (Staadt) and Thomas Harrison Fleming. Graduating from Pomona High School in 1937 and then Kansas State University in 1941 with a teaching degree in home economics, she taught at Durham High School in Durham, Kansas and later at Garfield High School in Garfield, Kansas. Helen worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, Kansas as a (W.O.W.) Woman's Ordnance Worker, in the summer during World War II. On December 23, 1945, she married Gilman "Buzzy” Smith of Durham, Kansas. Together they raised four children and worked their farm in the Holland area of Dickinson, County.

Being raised in a Christian family, she followed those teachings through her life, and was a multi- faceted member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Helen was a 4-H sewing leader for Holland Sunflower 4H Club and took an active interest in assisting her children with their own various 4-H projects. She was a caring and compassionate community member who enjoyed helping others and being actively involved in community events where she could give back to the community that she felt very fortunate to have belonged to. Helen was artistic and talented. She played the piano, made flower arrangements, did woodwork, refinished furniture, canned pickled beets and other various vegetables, made applesauce, sewed clothing, baked the best lemon meringue pie and angel food cake ever. She gardened, baked bread, quilted, cross stitched, made jewelry, wrote poetry and even won a spelling contest in her 90s. She was very interested in learning her genealogy and family history. She loved birds, nature, going to garage sales, antiquing, reading, and Halloween, when she would plan her costumes a year in advance. Helen and Buzzy traveled to Hawaii, Arizona, Indiana, Alabama, New Mexico, Washington State, Washington, D.C. and Florida to visit their children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she would often make special time with them to decorate Christmas cookies, dye Easter eggs, put a puzzle together, play a board game or just listen to them play the piano. Helen had a zest and a love for life and others and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Warren, of Troutman, North Carolina, Connie Corcoran (Lynn), of Lincoln, Nebraska, Cathy Ahlstedt, of Lindsborg, Kansas; grandchildren Vaughn Warren of Troutman, North Carolina, Kara (Jon) Perricone of San Diego, California, Travis Basgall (Melissa) of Salina, Kansas, Scott Peavler (Anette) of Ft. Susan Rene "Susie" Harris, 70, of Salina, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021. Susan was born in Waukegan, Illinois on November 12, 1950, a daughter of the late Shirley J. (LeMieux) and David George, Sr. On February 14, 1970, Susan married Daniel Harris. Survivors include her husband Daniel; two sons, Jeff Harris (Stephanie), of Salina; Zach Harris (Jessica), of Salina; grandchildren Parker Harris, Carson Harris, Eli Harris, Will Harris, Madelyn Harris; sister, Laura Mitchell (Andrew Baker), of Salina; two brothers, Dave George Jr. (Diana), of Salina, and Rick George (Kim), of Salina. Susie was passionate about family, friends, teaching and cooking. She found great joy and pride in her five grandchildren and their activities. She loved her family and enjoyed being a part of spirited family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, siblings and beloved nieces and nephews. All gatherings benefited from Susie’s cooking and baking skills, a passion she loved sharing with all who knew her. Another passion of Susie’s was that of being a teacher. She had a lengthy career at Solomon High School and St. John’s Military School. Susie never forgot her students and they never forgot her. The appreciation and love felt by former students was indicated by the number of letters, phone calls and visits Susie received from them, often decades after they graduated. These interactions brought Susie a great deal of happiness and she loved sharing them with her family. When St. John’s Military School closed, Susie’s life was touched by the number of former students who returned for the last time. Susie’s passion for teaching lives on through the lives of her two sons, her two daughters-in-law and her grandson, Parker, who are also dedicated educators. Isabel Hernandez, 89, of Valley Center, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021. She was born in Salina, KS, March 9, 1932, to Ramon and Victoria Hernandez. 

She was married to Lawrence Hernandez on June 23, 1951.&nbsp;

She was a homemaker and family were her greatest joy.&nbsp; Regardless of the time of day, anyone that showed up, she would always try to feed.&nbsp; When she made “red ones” (enchiladas), family came running to enjoy her labor of love.

When time allowed, she loved trying her hand at latch hook and cross-stitch.&nbsp;

She loved watching her family’s activities whether it be musical, dance or sports, you would find her in the audience supporting them.&nbsp; And for those family members who were lucky enough, ringing her cowbell so all could hear her pride for her kids, grandkids. and great-grandkids.&nbsp;

She loved dancing and her margaritas.&nbsp; Tables were turned later in life in that if there was a Mexican dance on New Year’s Eve, she and Larry could be found there - but only if they notified Rebecca when they returned home safely.&nbsp; As per her instructions “call, let it ring once, then hang up.”

Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jose Hernandez, a sister, Mary Camarena, and daughter-in-law, Maria Hernandez.

Those left to always remember her is her beloved husband of 70 years, Lawrence, four children, Ramona (George) Eck, Larry (Teri) Hernandez, David Hernandez, and Rebecca Biagini, 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 6 p.m. at St. Jude Church, Wichita, KS followed by the rosary at&nbsp;7 :00 p.m.&nbsp; Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021.&nbsp; A private burial will be held at a later date.&nbsp; The service will be livestreamed through the church website.&nbsp;

She was born in Salina, KS, March 9, 1932, to Ramon and Victoria Hernandez. She was married to Lawrence Hernandez on June 23, 1951.&nbsp;She was a homemaker and family were her greatest joy.&nbsp; Regardless of the time of day, anyone that showed up, she would always try to feed.&nbsp; When she made “red ones” (enchiladas), family came running to enjoy her labor of love.When time allowed, she loved trying her hand at latch hook and cross-stitch.&nbsp;She loved watching her family’s activities whether it be musical, dance or sports, you would find her in the audience supporting them.&nbsp; And for those family members who were lucky enough, ringing her cowbell so all could hear her pride for her kids, grandkids. and great-grandkids.&nbsp;She loved dancing and her margaritas.&nbsp; Tables were turned later in life in that if there was a Mexican dance on New Year’s Eve, she and Larry could be found there - but only if they notified Rebecca when they returned home safely.&nbsp; As per her instructions “call, let it ring once, then hang up.”Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jose Hernandez, a sister, Mary Camarena, and daughter-in-law, Maria Hernandez.Those left to always remember her is her beloved husband of 70 years, Lawrence, four children, Ramona (George) Eck, Larry (Teri) Hernandez, David Hernandez, and Rebecca Biagini, 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.Family visitation will be Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 6 p.m. at St. Jude Church, Wichita, KS followed by the rosary at&nbsp;7 :00 p.m.&nbsp; Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021.&nbsp; A private burial will be held at a later date.&nbsp; The service will be livestreamed through the church website.&nbsp;Contributions in memory of Isabel may be made to the Kansas Food Bank, 1919 E. Larry Beam Heidebrecht, 75, concluded his earthly journey on Sunday, September 19, 2021, in Omaha, Nebraska, with his wife of 52 years by his side. His eternal journey in heaven has begun. Larry was a warehouser at Johns-Manville for almost 30 years before he retired. He also worked at CertainTeed for almost 10 years. Larry was born in McPherson, Kansas, on May 4, 1946, the son of Ralph Franz Heidebrecht and Orpha Idella (Beam) Heidebrecht. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1964 and then attended McPherson College.

In 1969 Larry married Kathy Ann Taylor in McPherson, where they lived together until three years ago when they moved to Omaha to be closer to family. Larry and Kathy were members of the First Baptist Church in McPherson for 40 years before they became members of the First Presbyterian Church in Omaha. Larry was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. and the Optimist Club, both in McPherson. He thoroughly enjoyed playing sports during his lifetime, especially baseball with the Babe Ruth team, football in high school, and softball with the All-Stars and other teams. One summer he played on four different softball teams! Following the Bullpups during any season was a must, especially when his son and daughter were participating. Larry loved to go hunting and had such perfect vision that he could see quail and pheasant a half mile ahead on the road! He was a scholar of the Civil War and enjoyed reading historical biographies, narratives, and non-fiction. Larry followed his favorite sports teams and often could rattle off a list of players and stats at any given moment. He also loved class reunions, where he sometimes portrayed the Great Karnac, and family reunions, and any reunions when the Aces were involved. And, oh, how he loved the Aces! He was known for his exquisite handwriting, perfect memory and perfect kindness, honesty and charity. Larry was also a meticulous accountant for the household, and rarely needed a calculator! He was a generous and hard-working provider for his family and always ensured his children could attend summer camps, take family vacations and excel in their interests, all of which generated so many wonderful memories. Larry particularly loved his canine and feline pets, who equally relished in his attentions and provided him great companionship throughout his life. No one could ever say an unkind word about Larry. Alice’s life began on September 11, 1929 the daughter of Donald and Gladys (Carver) Sitler in Frankfort, Kansas. She graduated from El Dorado High Class of 1947 and married Herbert C. Dyck on November 28, 1948 on the family farm in Whitewater.

Alice was a homemaker and a secretary for 16 years at Missouri Baptist Hospital from where she retired. She loved genealogy, politics and the churches she attended – United Methodist Churches in Washington, Kansas and Manchester, Missouri. She was an excellent cook and was willing to try any new recipe and accomplish it to perfection. After retirement she taught French in the grade school and took in eleven exchange students. Her loving family includes her sons Frederick Dyck of Cameron, Missouri, Justin Dyck, Nathan Dyck (Julie) all of St. Louis, Missouri; daughters Christine Sehnert of Whitewater, Deborah Blackwell of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert in 2012; daughter Marie Gunn; and siblings Joyce Burkhart and Lyle Sitler.

Alice passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the age of 92 years old. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 1t 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Washington, Kansas. John F. Dalke, 87, passed away on September 24, 2021 at Hillsboro Community Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Hillsboro Kansas to A.H. and Doris Foster Dalke. 

He attended Hillsboro schools and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1952. In high school, John was active in FFA and played football, and his senior quote was “My hobby is mechanics.” 

He enjoyed hunting and other outdoor activities and spending time with his boys helping with their activities including coaching baseball and helping with Boy Scouts. He took the Boy Scouts camping and helped them build race cars for the Pinewood derby. According to his sons, he was the one to ride with to Sunday School, because he drove so fast. According to his grandson, Tyler, he made the best pickles in the world.

John served his country in the United States Army in Germany. He continued service with the Army Reserves and upon leaving the military, John had achieved the rank of staff sergeant. John married Delores Penner Dalke on May 12, 1962 in Wichita, KS. They had three children, John Owen Dalke, Mark Gregory Dalke and Matthew Erik Dalke. John and Delores were married 59 years. After the military, John became a truck driver and mechanic for AMPI, delivering Baskin Robbins ice cream. He became such good friends with the people whom he delivered the ice cream to, that he and Delores were often invited to weddings, anniversaries and sporting events of the customer’s family members. He was later promoted to transportation manager and especially enjoyed working alongside his brother, Jim. John was preceded in death by his parents AH and Doris Dalke; his in-laws Julius and Martha Penner; his son John O. Dalke; his brothers Paul and James; his sister Mary; and a brother-in- law, Larry Hamm.

He is survived by his wife Delores, his sons Mark (Pat) Dalke of Hillsboro and Matt (Jamey) Dalke of Chapman, his brother Dan (Donna) Dalke of Hillsboro, his sister Ruth Hamm of Hillsboro, his grandchildren Reagan and Tyler Dalke and his step-grandchildren Ashley Thornhill and Mike Massari. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday, September 28, from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, 1498 Kanza Road, Hillsboro, with Pastor Darren Rempel officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenfeld Cemetery with military honors. Dalke, 87, passed away on September 24, 2021 at Hillsboro Community Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Hillsboro Kansas to A.H. and Doris Foster Dalke. He attended Hillsboro schools and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1952. In high school, John was active in FFA and played football, and his senior quote was “My hobby is mechanics.” He enjoyed hunting and other outdoor activities and spending time with his boys helping with their activities including coaching baseball and helping with Boy Scouts. He took the Boy Scouts camping and helped them build race cars for the Pinewood derby. According to his sons, he was the one to ride with to Sunday School, because he drove so fast. According to his grandson, Tyler, he made the best pickles in the world.John served his country in the United States Army in Germany. He continued service with the Army Reserves and upon leaving the military, John had achieved the rank of staff sergeant. John married Delores Penner Dalke on May 12, 1962 in Wichita, KS. They had three children, John Owen Dalke, Mark Gregory Dalke and Matthew Erik Dalke. John and Delores were married 59 years. After the military, John became a truck driver and mechanic for AMPI, delivering Baskin Robbins ice cream. He became such good friends with the people whom he delivered the ice cream to, that he and Delores were often invited to weddings, anniversaries and sporting events of the customer’s family members. He was later promoted to transportation manager and especially enjoyed working alongside his brother, Jim. John was preceded in death by his parents AH and Doris Dalke; his in-laws Julius and Martha Penner; his son John O. Dalke; his brothers Paul and James; his sister Mary; and a brother-in- law, Larry Hamm. He is survived by his wife Delores, his sons Mark (Pat) Dalke of Hillsboro and Matt (Jamey) Dalke of Chapman, his brother Dan (Donna) Dalke of Hillsboro, his sister Ruth Hamm of Hillsboro, his grandchildren Reagan and Tyler Dalke and his step-grandchildren Ashley Thornhill and Mike Massari. Diana Marie (Bradley) Walquist, passed away at home in Clay Center, under the care of hospice on Friday, September 24, 2021.

She was born December 27, 1945, the daughter of Lorena Folsom. Raised in Clay Center, she graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart Warren “Butch” Walquist on April 25, 1964. He preceded her in death February 9th, 2016, after more than 50 years of marriage.

They lived in Manhattan, KS a few years before moving to Topeka, where she worked as an insurance underwriter. In 1976, they returned to Clay Center to operate the family farm, and raise their children. Diana worked at Hutchinson-Mayrath for 37 years, retiring as director of purchasing in 2015.

She loved her family above all, attending every sporting event/performance she could. After retiring, she loved visiting family, traveling with friends, and volunteering her time at the Lighthouse for Christ. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters Dana (Craig) Rickley of Clay Center, and Catherine (Joe) Hieger of Mt. Hope, KS; five grandchildren: Brett and Thomas Rickley, and Jill, Karen, and Megan Hieger; her sister, Connie (Gary) Tittlel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September, 28, 2021 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.&nbsp; The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m.

A graveside memorial service for Diana and Butch will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Appleton Cemetery, north of Green, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lighthouse for Christ, Meadowlark Hospice, and/or C.C.A.R.E. and can be sent in care of the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.

He worked maintenance at Russell Stover for over 20 years. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, 57 Chevys, Weird Al Yankovic, and collecting Hot Wheel cars. He was an avid supporter of Vietnam and followed the&nbsp;traveling wall for many years. Dwight is survived by his loving wife Michelle of the home, two daughters, Destiny and Chyanne Calvin, his mother Valane Calvin, his sister Angela and two nephews, and many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard, uncles and grandparents. Funeral services for Dwight will be 10:30 a.m.., Tuesday, September 27, 2021 at Danner Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.

Juanita Mae Boley, 91, passed away peacefully at home Monday, September 20, 2021, in Salina, KS.

Juanita was the youngest of 10 siblings. On August 11, 1930, she was born at home in rural Valley Falls, KS to John William Strawn and Luella Jane (Grahem) Strawn. 

Juanita married the love of her life, Louis Raphael Boley on June 17, 1953, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka, KS. They were happily united in marriage for over 65 years. He proceeded her in death. Together, they were blessed with five children: John Boley (Diana), Wakefield; Mark Boley (Connie), Concordia; Cindy Boley (Bennie), Myra Texas; Jay Boley (Deb), Meade; and Rex Boley, Mankato. Juanita was also a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;

When Louis and Juanita returned to her family’s farm her dad would often stop working when he saw family come home. He would say, “There is always time for work, but you never have enough time with family.” Juanita and Louis used this statement as the foundation to build their family. Juanita spent much of her life serving her family and others as a proud homemaker while her husband served in the Kansas National Guard. She valued the time she invested in her children in those primary years. When Louis retired, Juanita decided to return to work. She was employed at Cook Hardware in Eskridge, KS until it closed. She then accepted the head cook position at Eskridge Elementary School until her retirement. She loved to cook and often talked about her wonderful experiences with students and staff while working at Eskridge Elementary School. &nbsp;

Juanita enjoyed supporting her husband during his military service while they lived in Topeka and Eskridge. However, they decided to move to Ellsworth, KS to be closer to their grandchildren. When they moved to Ellsworth, Juanita enjoyed spoiling her grandkids, cooking for others, and being an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Ellsworth County Senior Center, and Mutual Friends Investment Club. Juanita loved attending school functions of her grandkids and helping with the Ellsworth Ag Department annual greenhouse plant sale. She was proud of her rural upbringing and enjoyed telling stories about growing up being part of a large family on a rural farm in Jackson County. She also shared stories of her high school years of playing girls basketball. &nbsp;

Juanita and Louis moved to Salina, KS in 2013 to once again be closer to family. Juanita loved her family, driving in the county, gardening, taking care of her flowers, cooking, and Wednesday night dinners with grandchildren. Her cookie jar was always full of chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies! Grandkids always could count on a full jar of M&amp;Ms and Skittles on top of the refrigerator. Juanita was a light in all her family and friends' lives and we are happy knowing she is at peace.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N. 9th St. Salina, KS. Family will welcome visitors after the service in the Hall of Bishops. Burial will be at a later date. &nbsp;

Miles Bradford Kennedy, 73, passed away at his home on September 21, 2021, surrounded by his wife Joann, daughter Cheryl, and grandson Cole. He was born March 22, 1948 in Hartford, CT to Donald and Matilda Kennedy.

While attending college, Miles chose to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps. After basic training, he was placed in the 1st Marine division post “sea duty.” After only three weeks, he was sent to Vietnam where he served in-country 1967-1970. He was overseas for so long because he was captured as a POW.

After travelling the country for several years, Miles enrolled in the VA for healthcare. While attending a Christmas program through the VA, he met his wife, Joann in 1991. Miles enjoyed hunting and fishing. A highlight event he attended every year since 1991 was a veterans’ reunion in El Dorado, KS. He was an active member of American Legion and VFW and was a past commander of both local posts. Miles loved helping other veterans despite his declining health.

Miles is survived by his wife Joann, daughter Cheryl Kennedy, and grandson Cole.

Visitation: 3-8 p.m., Sunday, September 26, 2021, with family present 6-8 p.m., at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth.

Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 27, 2021, at Parsons Funeral Home.

He is preceded in death by his father Randall Craig Davis; friend Matt Robertson; grandparents Harold and Marilyn Davis, Robert Graybeal; aunt, Neva Davis; and uncle Lawrence Jensen.

SALINA -&nbsp;Robert "Steve" Koop, 78, of Salina, passed away September 14, 2021.

He was born March 1, 1943, to John S. and Katherine (Paradise) Koop in Fairbury, Neb.

Steve spent his childhood in and around Jansen and Fairbury, Neb., running with a close group of family and friends. This is where his love of family and Nebraska football took root, blossomed, and spread throughout his entire life and family.

Steve moved to Kansas after high school, where he met and married his wife of 56 years, Kathryn (Bainbridge) Koop. To this union were born three wonderful children, Kristine, Karrie, and Ryan.

Moving to Salina in 1967, he owned and operated Steve's Service and later Big Cheese Pizza. Steve finished out his working years working for Bennett's, delivering El Dorado buses all over the United States and Canada.

Steve always believed in and supported young people, first through sponsoring many Salina Rec teams and Big Cheese employees, and then with his wife through the placing and mentoring of high school exchange students with the Youth for Understanding International Exchange Program.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; daughter Kristine; two infant granddaughters; three brothers; and one sister. 

He is survived by his wife Kathryn; daughter Karrie Hilton (Nick); son Ryan (Janaina); grandsons Shane Stone, Kodie Stone (Torie), Khamry Stone, and Payton Koop; great-grandsons Payton, Daven, Bryson, and William; sisters Vivian Hock and Sevelta Krause; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 111 W. Magnolia, Salina.
