Hillsboro - LeRoy Embrose Arseneau, 63, passed away March 29, 2022 at his residence in Hillsboro. He was born April 4, 1958 in Peotone, Illinois to Robert and Joan (Fowler) Arseneau. 

Survivors include: wife Pamela Dowson of Hillsboro; brothers Robert Jr., David; sisters Linda, Karen, Donna, Laura; four stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.

On April 5th, 1989 at 7:15 p.m., Ryan Scott Schierling entered this world as a gift from God to Duane A. and Jill R. (Westbrook) Schierling in Newton, KS. He was welcomed home by his older sisters Megan Marie Hein (7 years older) and Melissa Kay Enns (4 years older).

When he was only 5 years old, his mom said that Ryan was full of energy, very strong-willed, and had a mind of his own. These are the traits that reflected in his career moves as Ryan stated to Mel, he was building his resume to improve his family’s life and to make a difference in this world! Ryan really stressed about how crazy this world had become! Trump! 2024. Let’s Go Brandon!

Ryan’s love for agriculture started with his father working as a livestock nutritionist. Those career moves were Klassen Dairy, Cooperative Grain and Supply (obtained licensure for commercial pesticide), Crop Production Services as a custom applicator, went back to Cooperative Grain and Supply as a custom applicator. He was encouraged by an acquaintance to be a sprayer diesel technician at Land Diesel Inc. This is where his love for Challenger’s equipment derived from. His last career move was to McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility as a mechanic. That concludes Ryan’s career resume. Significant moments in Ryan’s life: Birth of his first daughter Adelyn Jo Winter on September 14th 2007. Trip with his dad to Oberlin, KS to pickup a chocolate lab that he named after the brand of mud tires on his truck, Dayton Timberline. Dayton comforted his dad during his battle with esophageal cancer in 2009, that took his life, a traumatic event for Ryan. Ryan met the love of his life, Mellissa Scott, in 2012. On Christmas Eve of 2013, as much as they loved each other, Ryan asked for Mel’s hand in marriage. As a result of their love for one another, they welcomed Haley Ann into this world on March 3rd, 2014.

Learning how to fish for bluecats from Randal, they went on a guided night fishing trip at Milford Lake. Randal was a significant influence on Ryan purchasing a V-Cat 200 SeaArk Boat. This lead to our family's annual fishing trips to Milford. Ryan and Mel was always with each other from the morning they woke up until they went to bed. Their weekends were full of everyday life but always made an attempt to do fun things. Anyone who knew them, knew that the whole family would be there because they couldn’t live without each other.

Ryan took on a skill he learned from his father of butchering hogs and processing his own meat. Ryan and his wife Mel made it an annual winter project. Hoping that Haley would follow in her dad’s footsteps. Ryan loved to be creative and unique when creating his own chicken coop. His love of cooking lead him to create many spicy meats from the wild. Ryan added “the spice to life” for he, Mel, Haley, and Adi.

Another life changing event happened in the summer of 2020 when his mother passed away from having heart failure. He made sure his family at home was taken care of but also made sure his mom was taken care of as well.

Even though the death of his mother was still heavy on him, Mel proposed to Ryan on Christmas Eve of 2021, she loved him dearly and wanted to get this marriage going. She reinacted the same way Ryan proposed to her back in 2013. It was an emotional time since the two of them wanted to get it finalized.

Ryan cared deeply about the friendships he had with Randal, Dakota, Travis, Wade, Fooster, Brice, Chris, Tyler, Levi, JJ and Brett. He frequently made it a point to check in on his friends and their families, even if it occurred late in the evening and may have had a drink or 2 under his belt and would be a “Chatty Cathy!” Many of us will miss those late night check-in calls from Ryan and would end with: “you take care”, “until we talk again”, or just “love ya, man!”

Ryan left us unexpectedly on March 27th, 2022. May we find comfort in him entering his eternal life with his mother, father, and grandmother as they are welcoming him into their arms once again! 

Those left to carry on his memory and his love of the great outdoors are his wife Mellissa, and two daughters Adelyn Jo Winter, Haley Ann Schierling, along with sisters Megan (Nick) Hein, Melissa (Dustin) Enns, parents-in-law Calvin and Stephaney Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews and one chocolate lab along with many close friends.

Ryan would say to us all- “Until we talk again, remember to always prepare yourself for anything in life!” Thank you Ryan, for the memories, laughs, adventures, and most of all, thanks for being you! Florence M. Steely, 95, of McPherson, Kansas passed away on March 28, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 15, 1926, at the family home near White City, Kansas, the daughter of Fred A. and Orlena (Kohls) Herpich.&nbsp; Florence was a graduate of Woodbine High School, Woodbine, Kansas with the class of 1945.

Upon graduation, Florence went to work with Dr. Emig, an optometrist, as an optometrist assistant in Herington, Kansas.&nbsp; It was during her employment with Dr. Emig that this young handsome man came in for an appointment.&nbsp; Glenn B. Steely was that young man who became her life partner.&nbsp; Glenn and Florence were married on October 3, 1948, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, White City, Kansas.

Through the years of their married life, they lived in several states due to Glenn’s various business activities.&nbsp; Florence was never without a job very long, even with the various moves.&nbsp; She was very good at fitting and adjusting glasses and would work for numerous optometrists, finally retiring from this work at the age of 82.&nbsp; She and Glenn enjoyed extensive travel on their own, with bus trips, and the highlight being able to travel to Russia and Finland.

During her later years, she spent much time oil painting, being self-taught by Bob Ross books, especially in nursing homes with residents observing.

Survivors include her loving and devoted companion and best friend, JD the cat, one brother, Fred L. Herpich, one sister, Elvera Wehmeier, numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Bower officiating.&nbsp; A visitation/viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday morning.&nbsp; Burial will follow the service at McPherson Cemetery.

Louis grew up in the Waterloo, Iowa area.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Black Hawk County High School.

After high school Louis served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.

He attended a technical college in Waterloo, IA and later Colby Community College, Colby, KS.

He was a cook and served in the hospitality industry for many years and most recently worked at the Pilot Truck Stop in Colby, Kansas.

Louis loved spending time with his children, family, friends and mostly his beloved dogs Matter and Cash.

Louis is survived by his daughter E. Betty (Ebony) Morgan, Concordia, KS; daughter Sunee Creighton, Colby, KS; two grandchildren, Morgan and Draiden Durham; brother Gary Patterson, Ft. Worth, TX; four sisters, Shelly Fisher, Davenport, IA; Christine Nash, Jackson, AL; Jacqueline Nixon, MS; Karla Creighton, Des Moines, IA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Redrick Creighton and infant brother Howard Creighton and sister Lawana Creighton.

Ellen Marie Price, Salina, died March 24, 2022, one day before her 93rd birthday.

Ellen was born in Xenia, Kansas, on March 25, 1929, to Dale and Mary Jane (Janie) Delavan. 

She graduated from Blue Mound High School, taught one year in a one-room schoolhouse and then went to Kansas City Bible College as part of her preparation to become a missionary.&nbsp; Her studies included going to the University of Oklahoma for linguistics. While there, she helped develop a dictionary of the Cherokee language.&nbsp; From there, she went to Switzerland to live with a family and immerse herself in the French language.&nbsp; While she was becoming fluent in French, she was also studying the Bambara language to prepare for her missionary work near what is presently Bambako in Mali, West Africa.

She spent five years as a missionary, gathering a lifetime of stories and making lifelong friends.&nbsp; While living in the “bush” with the Bambara people, she contracted malaria and was forced to return to the states for treatment.&nbsp;

While recovering, Ellen met her lifelong love, James Price. They were married within six months and had 62 wonderful years together.

She was always active in her children's schools including many years as PTA president. She became an Avon Representative (41 years) so she could create her own hours and volunteered at the Little House to assist new immigrants preparing for citizenship. Ellen was very active in her church, Sunrise Presbyterian, for the 50 years she was a member.

She was a lifelong sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed listening to and watching the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas State football, and Kansas University basketball.

She and her husband James were also active members of the Disabled American Veterans organization at city, state, and national levels. They volunteered thousands of hours supporting the organization.

Jim and Ellen had six children: Myron (deceased) and his wife Geralyn of Salina, Kansas; Elton Price and his wife Kathern (Kay), Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ina Olsson and her husband David, Centennial, Colorado; John Price and his wife Mink, Fayetteville, North Carolina; Lori Price, Leavenworth, Kansas; and Anita St. Pe’ and her husband Todd, Anna, Texas.&nbsp; 

Ellen is survived by 12 grandchildren; Eileen and Jade Price; Hailey Rosa Enderle (Justin); Jason Price, Kristin and Anders Olsson; Zoe, John, Halley, and Jack Price; and Charles and Madeleine St. Pe’.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Elton and her son Myron Dale Price.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at Sunrise Presbyterian Church (825 E. Beloit, Salina, Kansas 67401).

Leon Troy Cook&nbsp;passed away in his home surrounded by his family on March 26, 2022, at the age of 69, after a year-and-a-half battle against gastro-esophageal cancer. He was born on January 7, 1953, to Lillian and Louis Cook, in Bismarck, ND, and was raised in Norman, OK with his three sisters and twin brother.

From 1971-1973, Troy served his country in the U.S. Army and in the Vietnam War.&nbsp; He married Debora M. Skolout, in Beardsley, KS, on August 18, 1979, and they had three children. He graduated from Central State University in 1991.

 He worked in several fields, including the oil field, electrical, carpentry, and purchasing/inventory &amp; retail sales, retiring from Wal-Mart after 17-years, in 2018.

Troy was a man of great integrity, always prioritizing God, country and family. 

He and his family lived in Norman, OK until 1993, they then lived in Pine Bluff, AR until 1995, and then in Hays, KS until May 2021 when he and Debbie moved to Salina, KS, for their retirement. 

Troy loved spending time outdoors and was an avid golfer, photographer, hunter, cycler and OU Football fan. He and Debbie enjoyed traveling with both family and friends. Troy was always cracking jokes and kept his friends and family laughing until his final days.

Troy is survived by his wife Debora M. Cook; two children, daughter Crystal (Brian Leftridge) of Shawnee, KS; son Thomas (Brittany) Cook of Salina, KS; three granddaughters, Briella, Taylie, and Leah Cook and his two sisters, Linda Cook and Julie (Cook) Kranker of FL. 

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Starr Cook; his mother Lillian Joyce Washburn; his stepfather Wendall Washburn; his brother William Cook, sister Nancy (Cook) Johnson; and his infant daughter Elizabeth Cook.

The visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, on April 2nd at 10 a.m., rosary at 11:10, followed by the funeral mass at 11:30 a.m.&nbsp; The burial will be at the St. John’s Nepomucene Cemetery in Beardsley, KS on Saturday, April 9, at 4 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Salina with Salina Regional Hospital or St. Mary’s Catholic School, Salina.&nbsp;

Skolout, in Beardsley, KS, on August 18, 1979, and they had three children. He graduated from Central State University in 1991. He worked in several fields, including the oil field, electrical, carpentry, and purchasing/inventory &amp; retail sales, retiring from Wal-Mart after 17-years, in 2018.Troy was a man of great integrity, always prioritizing God, country and family. He and his family lived in Norman, OK until 1993, they then lived in Pine Bluff, AR until 1995, and then in Hays, KS until May 2021 when he and Debbie moved to Salina, KS, for their retirement. Troy loved spending time outdoors and was an avid golfer, photographer, hunter, cycler and OU Football fan. He and Debbie enjoyed traveling with both family and friends. Troy was always cracking jokes and kept his friends and family laughing until his final days.Troy is survived by his wife Debora M. Cook; two children, daughter Crystal (Brian Leftridge) of Shawnee, KS; son Thomas (Brittany) Cook of Salina, KS; three granddaughters, Briella, Taylie, and Leah Cook and his two sisters, Linda Cook and Julie (Cook) Kranker of FL. Carlene Joyce Veal, 84, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at her home in Abilene. She was born July 5th, 1937 in Elmo, Kansas the daughter of Carl and Leona (Sween) Stammeyer. Growing up in the Elmo area she attended the local schools and graduated from the Hope High School class of 1954. 

On January 20th, 1957 Carlene married Fred D. Veal. All of their married life was spent in Dickinson County. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1989 and parents. 

Carlene is survived by daughter Teresa Ottensmeier (Paul-Two Paws) son Bob Veal (Patty); four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Vivian Lake;&nbsp; and many nieces and nephews. 

Carlene was a homemaker all her life and a fantastic mother and grandmother. She was employed by USD 435 Abilene as a food service employee for 17 years working at Kennedy and McKinley Schools. 

Funeral Services for Carlene will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Grace United Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Danner Funeral Home. 

The family suggests memorials be given to Hospice of Dickinson County or to the Grace United Church of Christ. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed Danner Funeral Home or mailed to 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Don worked as a farmer and carpenter, building houses in the Dickinson County area. 

Don is survived by his loving wife Ardis of the home; son Rex and wife Susan of Hope and daughter Christine Wells and husband Craig; eight grandchildren: Chantelle (Billy) Arnold; KC (Annessa) Conine; Jay (Becky) Conine; Cody (Megan) McMahan;Kendra (Jeff) Mein; Cass (Crysta) McMahan; Rayna (Randy) Novak; Carrie (Lateef) Dowdell; and twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and&nbsp; son Daniel Lee McMahan.

Norene Joy Klos was born on November 22, 1948, in Herington to Harry Adam and Cora Ashwell. Norene passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on March 22, 2022, at Hilltop Lodge Health and Rehab in Beloit, KS.

Besides the last 12 years, Norene was a lifelong resident of Herington, graduating with the class of 1966. Norene spent many years working as a medical clerk on Ft. Riley at Irwin Army Hospital. &nbsp;

She also loved to color, making afghans, doing latch hook, and participating in the activities at the Hilltop, especially the “Geriatric Olympics.” But Norene’s favorite thing to do was watch Elvis movies and listen to Elvis on the radio.&nbsp; 

Her biggest blessings in life were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with.

Norene is survived by her daughters Annette Rhymer and husband Jason Heldstab of Council Grove, and Angela Loree of Herington; sister Betty Kearns of Coffeyville, brother Mark Adam and wife Janet of Herington; grandchildren Kelsey and Ashton Turner, Skyelar Loree, James, Jordan, Megan, and Samantha Heldstab; and many nieces and nephews.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Donna Adam, brother Gerald Adam and son Rick Klos.

He graduated from Republic High School, Republic, KS.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to Carolyn N. Loring and to this union four children were born, Teresa , Kevin , Lori , Lisa.&nbsp; He served with the United States Army during the Korean War.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He worked as a security officer for the federal government for many years until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alva and Ethel Simmons, wife Carolyn, son-in-law Russell Hall, grandson Christopher G. Simmons, one sister, Maxine Simms, and two brothers, Donald Simmons, Robert Simmons.

He is survived by one son, Kevin (Debra) Simmons of Scandia, KS, three daughters, Teresa (John) Dillman of Liberty, MO, Lori (Larry) Jones of Independence, MO, Lisa Hall of Scandia, KS, five grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Darlene Simmons of Belleville, KS, other relatives and many friends.

M. Fern Horn, 101, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Friday, March 25th, 2022 at The Cedars House 805. Fern was born at her parents home in McPherson, Kansas, on January 13, 1921, a daughter of Henry H. Jr. and Anna (Rudiger) Koehn. Fern attended a country school near Lone Tree Mennonite Church rural McPherson. Melois Fern Koehn was united in marriage to Roy Henry Horn on January 18, 1959 at West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together on Roy's parents farm South of McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a daughter and a son, Pamela and Alan. Roy died on December 3, 2007. Fern was a member of the First Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas. She and Roy were members of the O.U.R. Sunday School Class and later the Y.E.S. Sunday School Class. Fern was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Fern and Roy worked part-time for the Santa Fe Country School South of McPherson as custodians. Fern worked for Heidebrecht Meats as a meat processor, and retired from Dillions Bakery as a baker. Fern was known for her cooking and baking skills and the family always looked forward to her Sunday dinners with all the family, especially her pies! If Roy had his way that's all he would eat. She also enjoyed all the traveling and trips they took together. Fern and Roy also volunteered in the community for the McPherson County Food Bank for many years. She is survived by her children Pamela R. Samuels and husband Allan of McPherson, Kansas and Alan K. Horn and wife Rebecca of McPherson, Kansas; her five grandchildren David Samuels, Stephanie Trevett and life partner Chris, Dustin Horn and wife Alli, Mariah Gawanda and husband Michael, and Emma Horn; her four great-grandchildren Tanner, Ryan, Paisley, and Colter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Marvin John Goering, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at his home in rural McPherson, Kansas following a brief stay in hospice. Marvin was born on the family farm near Montezuma, Kansas on March 29, 1934, the son of Joe J.F. and Emma (Schrag) Goering. He was the sixth of seven children. After the family moved to rural Galva, Kansas, Marvin attended Happy Hollow School and graduated from Galva High School. Throughout his childhood, he worked on the family farm with his parents and siblings. Following 1-W service at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Colorado, Marvin graduated from Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas in 1958. He later received his master's degree in industrial education from Emporia State University. On June 4, 1959, Marvin married Mary Beth Funk of rural Hillsboro, Kansas, who was a fellow student at Bethel College. They began married life on a farm near McPherson where they were still living as of Marvin’s death. The couple had two daughters, Anne Elizabeth, born in 1963, and Gail Marie, born in 1964. Marvin farmed land in McPherson County throughout his life. Together with his brothers, he farmed land in other Kansas counties and engaged in various other businesses. Marvin also taught industrial arts, first at Salina South Junior High, and then for more than 25 years at McPherson Junior High (later McPherson Middle School). He served the McPherson County community in various capacities, including on the boards for Rural Water District No. 4, Empire Township, and the National Resources Conservation Service. When he was not farming or fixing things, Marvin enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and watching basketball, auto racing and old movies. He was an avid reader of history and biography. He was fortunate to live within a few miles of his siblings, and the families enjoyed many happy times together. Marvin is survived by his wife Mary Beth of rural McPherson; his daughter Anne Groves, husband Jan and granddaughter Lia of Valley Center, Kansas; his daughter Gail Goering of rural Lehigh, Kansas; his brother Kenneth Goering and wife Paula of rural Galva, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Margaret and husband Walter Schrag; his brother Merlin; his brother Virgil and wife Verna; his brother Melvern and wife Erma; and his brother Duane and wife Neva. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Robert (Bob) Lewis Shinn, 84, was born on December 31, 1937, in Herington to John Henry Shinn and Oma Marie Attebury.&nbsp; Bob passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 23, 2022, at the Herington Hospital.

Bob went to school in Herington where he obtained his GED. 

In April of 1957, Bob married Dorothy Baldwin, and to this union was born a son. &nbsp;

Bob later joined the United States Army where he faithfully served his country for 21 years. His next venture would be to become a police officer where he served the citizens of Osborne, KS for 10 years and the citizens of Herington for 13 years. 

At an early age Bob found his faith in his Lord and Savior, being baptized in the Baptist faith. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Herington. 

Bob had a love of travel sometimes traveling 4-5 hours to visit family for just a couple of hours. He was a member of the Coffee Club, VFW Post 1281 and American Legion. 

In February of 2013, Bob’s wife Dorothy passed away after 56 years of marriage. Then in August of 2013, Bob married Frances (Fran) Byfield, in Marion, Arkansas. Bob and Fran spent 8 ½ years together, enjoying each other, traveling to different places to visit family, friends and the casinos. &nbsp;

Bob is survived by his wife Fran Shinn; son Harold (Laurie) Shinn; sister Betty Jo (Gene) Plank; grandchildren Cassidy (Tinna) Palmer, and Sharrelle Shinn; great-grandchildren James Palmer, Selena and Cyrise Brown and many other family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years Dorothy; brothers Donnie and Henry; and sister Mamie.

The family will receive guests on Monday, March 28, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Yazel-Megli, Funeral Home Herington Chapel, at 404 S. Broadway St. Funeral service will be March 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Herington with Reverend Darrell Geist officiating. &nbsp;Graveside services with military honors will immediately follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington. Family will gather for a luncheon at the First Baptist Church following the graveside service.

SALINA -&nbsp;Virgil A. Bowman&nbsp;passed away on February 20, 2022, at the age of 95 years, 9 months and 3 days, at Dignity Care Home in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born May 17, 1926, in Ellis, Kansas to John and Elizabeth Bowman. He spent his early years in Ellis and Salina attending school and, according to the stories, having lots of fun. He was drafted into the Army during WWII and served from 1944 to 1946 in Europe.&nbsp; He was in the 102nd Infantry Division Company A.

After his honorable discharge, he married Dorothy Sprague of Vesper, Kansas, on September 27, 1947. They were married almost sixty years. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Salina. The family they started consisted of sons Steve (Cyndi) of Hutchinson, Rodney (Peggy) of Fort Collins, Colorado, Joe (Barbara) of Marquette, and daughter Glenda (Dave) Rittel of Wichita. There are eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren (with number nineteen and twenty on the way).

Virgil worked for Helbert Distributors, S &amp; H Distributors Coors, and Crown Distributors Coors in Salina for twenty-five years. He was a delivery driver, office manager, and in charge of advertising and draft accounts.

A true family man, Virgil enjoyed taking everyone camping, fishing, hunting, and bowling. He loved dancing with Dorothy on Friday nights and playing cards with friends.&nbsp; They often took the family on Sunday afternoon visits with their extended families.

After retirement, Virgil added an almost-daily visit to McDonald’s for coffee with friends and neighbors along with weekly golf games with the regular foursome. He continued to be devoted to his wife through her illness, until her death in 2007.

Left to remember Virgil are his sister MaryAnn Norris, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary in Salina. Military honors will follow at the Sunset Park War Memorial in Salina.

Memorials may be made to Dignity Care Home, Kansas Honor Flight, or Kindred Hospice.

She was born on April 9, 1926, to Lone and Helen Redding, farmers residing in Minneola, Kansas, where she had three brothers. She graduated from Minneola High School in 1944 before attending Dodge City CC.

Joan was married to Ed for 62 years before his passing in 2008.Joan was an avid bridge player, loved to read and spend time gardening. Ed and Joan spent many summers in Suttons Bay, Michigan enjoying cooler weather and playing golf. She was an active member of Helianthus (a federated women’s club), the Salina Charities League, and PEO DL Chapter. She was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church hospital visitation team, and the Crusaders Sunday School class.Joan is survived by three children: son Rick, of Salina; daughter Tanya (Joe Krsnich) of Overland Park; son Randy (Traci) of Stilwell; four grandchildren: Lou (Anna Krsnich) of Oakland, California; Jimmy Krsnich of Overland Park; Korri Simmons of Stilwell; Kodi Simmons of Stilwell; and one great-granddaughter, Edith Krsnich.A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on April 9th at 11:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Salina at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, or First United Methodist Church, Salina.
