Brian Joseph Palen was born on December 6, 1970 to Cyril and DiAnna Palen.&nbsp; Brian was an adrenaline junkie from a young age.&nbsp; Whether he was running from the city cop on a snowmobile, or racing go-carts with his dad cheering him on, Brian loved being onery and enjoyed doing pranks with the neighborhood kids of Tipton.&nbsp; Brian quickly moved from go-carts to race cars.&nbsp; He enjoyed working with his crew and loved going fast.&nbsp; Brian’s love for speed gave his mother anxiety.&nbsp; Surviving a wreck that most people wouldn’t.&nbsp;

 Once he decided to give up the need for speed, he decided to go big.&nbsp; He purchased a Peterbilt and a bull trailer.&nbsp; He enjoyed the long hauls and would call Melissa to keep him awake on long trips.&nbsp; 

Briai decided he wanted a change of scenery so he moved to Colorado.&nbsp;

 He was soon blessed with a beautiful daughter, Kaitlyn.&nbsp; He would always brag he was the only man that could drive an 18-wheeler and change a diaper at the same time.&nbsp; 

Brian loved building cars and rebuilt a '69 Camaro which he nicknamed “Purple Passion.”&nbsp; While is Colorado, Brian’s adrenaline rush continued.&nbsp; He decided to take up bull riding.&nbsp; He soon realized riding wasn’t all it was cut out to be.&nbsp; He competed with a broken pelvis and ankle.&nbsp; Thank goodness his daughter convinced him to retire. 

After 16 years Brain decided to leave Colorado behind. He returned to Osborne to help care for his mother but the truth be told DiAnna did the caring for. After returning, Brian rekindled an old love with Melissa Hoffman - Lyle. They were wed in a backyard ceremony on August 2, 2014. 

Brain was a skilled leather craftsman and enjoyed crafting projects. He ended up turning his hobby into a business. Brian also had a love for fishing that he got from his dad and mom.

Brian had many jobs through is life from selling computers in Salina, rebuilding engines at R and M in Beloit. Brian was also employed with Osborne Industry. Brian's last job at American Ag and Auto was his favorite. He enjoyed his time he got to work with his cousin Mike Becker.

Brian and Melissa shared a blended family. They are proud parents of Katlyn Lawrence and Chantell Wessling. Brian was a very proud grandfather to Kinsley and Kamryn Lawrence and Kale and Kaden Wessling. His face would sparkle when he shared stories about his kids and grandkids.

On October 2, 2022, Brian lost his battle to an aggressive cancer that was only diagnosed two weeks prior. He fought a hard battle because he didn’t want to leave his family.

Brian is proceeded in death by his father Cyril Palen. 

Brian is survived by his wife Melissa Palen of Tipton, his mother DiAnna Palen of Osborne, Kaitlyn Lawrence and husband James, their two girls Kinsley and Kamryn of Stephenville, Texas, Chantell Wessling and her husband Josh, their two boys Kale and Kaden of Beloit, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Tipton at St. Boniface Catholic Church.&nbsp; A rosary service will be held at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Dorothy (Maltbie) Gerdes, 93, Salina, passed away on Wednesday September 28, 2022. She was born to Bessie and Ernest Maltbie, of Amorita, OK on March 4,1929 and graduated from Amorita High School. She had two brothers, both preceded her in death.&nbsp; 

Dorothy married Robert N. Gerdes of Amorita, OK on May 28, 1947. They had been married 71 years when Bob passed away on August 21, 2018.

They have three children, Cynthia Smith (Lowell), Kansas City, MO; Ronald Gerdes, Houston, TX; Richard Gerdes (Lisa), Salina. They have seven grandchildren; Shawn (Kelli) and Kevin (Laura) Smith, Sara (Kindler) Nurnberg (Todd), Bryan (Susan) Gerdes; Christi, Ryan and Brandon (Sierra) Hysong; and 16 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Alex Smith; Kevin, Theo and Esmee Smith; Taylor, Carter and Tessa Kindler; Grace and Molly Nurnberg; Eva, Roselyn and Gabriel Gerdes; Breanna and Cameron Hysong; Keegan, Kaden, and Hannah Budreau; Jordan and Emmilyn Hysong and Eleanor and Ezra Hysong.

Dorothy and Bob were charter members of Christ the King Lutheran Church and very active there.&nbsp; Dorothy worked for and retired from the USDA in Salina.

Memorial services will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.

SALINA -&nbsp;Harold Larson&nbsp;was born on Oct. 11, 1937 and passed away on Sept. 30, 2022.

He was born in Tescott, the son of Lambert and Marie Larson. He was raised by Walter and Lena Dodge. He had five brothers and sisters.

Harold married Royanne Young 64 years ago. Together they have six children: Shelly, Julie, Cindy, Mike, Joe (deceased) and Dawn. He has 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and telling them stories for hours.

He was a professional carpenter by trade, estimator, architect and engineer for more than 50 years. He designed and built meat-packing plants, residences, schools and businesses in Salina, all across Kansas and in other states. He was the land developer of Valley View Addition and Knoll Crest Estates. He owned Larson Construction Company and Century Sales and co-owned LAM-CO.In 1976 he designed and built the gazebo for Salina’s bicentennial celebration. This gazebo is now housed in the Jerry Ivy Park.

Harold loved to travel and was an avid reader. His passions were horses, hot rods and music. He enjoyed collecting car memorabilia and western artifacts and was a history buff. He liked to attend swap meets and trade shows and was quite a story teller.

Visitation will be Monday, October 3, 5-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary. Services will be Tuesday, October 4, at 10:00 a.m., at the Ryan Mortuary.

Scott Dustin Princ, formerly of Wilson, KS, passed away on September 
30, 2022, at his home in Salina, KS at the age of 52. He was born on 
August 31, 1970, in Ellsworth, KS to John and Barbara (Hlaus) Princ. He 
Married Lynn (Valcorza) Princ in 2009 and they later divorced.

Scott
 grew up in Wilson and graduated from Wilson High School in 1989. After 
high school, he attended North Central Technical College in Beloit, KS 
and worked at Farm Mechanic and Electronics in Beloit. He later moved to
 Salina and worked in maintenance at Tony’s Pizza Plant and he currently
 worked for Russell Stover Candies Factory in Abilene, KS.

Scott
 enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved Mesha dearly and treasured time 
spent with her taking her to fairs, carnivals, and the farm.

He
 is survived by his mother, Barbara Princ of Wilson, KS; step-daughter, 
Meshasky Valcorza of Salina; brother John Princ of Beloit, KS; and 
sister Anita Princ of Salina.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Princ.

A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home in Wilson on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 10:30 AM.

Lois Arlene Kuchera, 86, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, in Topeka, KS. She was born October 5, 1935, in Scandia, KS, to Vernon and Vivian (Thomas) Erickson.

After graduating from Scandia High School, Lois earned a teaching certificate from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University.) Lois then taught elementary education in many small towns in north central Kansas. 

She married Paul Kuchera in Scandia on May 25, 1958.

Lois is survived by her husband Paul of Lincoln, KS; daughters Paula Currey (Steve) of Rose Hill, KS and Saralyn Newell (Don) of Topeka; sons Joel Kuchera (Valerie) of Quinter, KS and Jon Paul Kuchera (Jane) of Wamego, KS; ten grandchildren and ten grea- grandchildren; and sister Janice Janasek (Ron) of Manhattan, KS. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Vivian Erickson.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Lincoln United Methodist Church.

Wendell D. Becker, 61, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at Newton Medical Center. He was born January 6, 1961 in Moundridge, the son of LeRoy E. and Mildred (Becker) Becker. He was employed at various occupations, working at Pine Village the last 13 yrs. as supervisor of floor maintenance. Wendell is survived by brother Roger (Brenda) Becker of Moundridge; stepmother, Elizabeth Becker of Moundridge; nephew Darren (Marcia) Becker of rural Moundridge and their four children; and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Wendell is survived by brother Roger (Brenda) Becker of Moundridge; stepmother, Elizabeth Becker of Moundridge; nephew Darren (Marcia) Becker of rural Moundridge and their four children; and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Joan “Jo-Ann” Marie Reichenberger, 72, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on October 1st at her home in McPherson. 

Joan was a retired teacher and most recently taught 8th&nbsp;grade English at Prairie Hills Middle School.&nbsp;

Joan was born on November 15, 1949, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Leo F. and Virginia E. (White) Tschechtelin.&nbsp;

 She attended Curé of Ars Catholic School in Leawood, KS, graduated from Bishop-Miege High School (Roeland Park, KS) and St. Mary of the Plains College (Dodge City, KS), and earned a master’s degree in education Administration from Wichita State University (Wichita, KS).&nbsp;&nbsp;

On July 7, 1973, Joan was united in marriage to Donald James Reichenberger, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO.&nbsp;This union was blessed with three children, Jennifer, Brian, and Sarah.

Joan held many accomplishments professionally, but she would be the first to tell you she was most proud of her role as mother and grandmother. She loved her family fiercely and was always eager to celebrate all the milestones and occasions, no matter how big or small! She loved celebrating life and really treasured the gift of motherhood.

She was well known for her contagious energy and great sense of humor, but it is her devout and unwavering faith that those closest will remember about her.&nbsp;

Joan was a passionate leader in the community, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Altar Society, Parish Finance Committee, PEO Chapter AY, and Progressive Literature Club.&nbsp; She served on the McPherson Hospital Board of Directors and was an officer on the St. Joseph School Board and the McPherson USD 418 School Board.&nbsp;

Survivors include her loving husband Don; children Jennifer (Dr. Michael) McGinnis of Overland Park, KS, Brian Reichenberger of Plano, TX, and Sarah (Mark) Provino of Breckenridge, CO; two siblings, Dr. James (Susan) Tschechtelin and Carol Halstead, both&nbsp;of The Villages, FL; four grandchildren, Lucas, Isabella “Izzy”, Molly, and Kate; and many more family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, with Father Benjamin Shockey officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;Final resting place will be in the mausoleum at McPherson Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.&nbsp;

Dr. Paul Willis Hoffman, 90, of McPherson, KS, passed away in the early morning hours of September 30, 2022.&nbsp; Paul was born on May 14, 1932, to Ralph and Tressie (Heeter) Hoffman and grew up at the family farm near Roann, IN.

Paul met his future wife, Joanna Begerow, during a youth event in Florida.&nbsp; While in college, Paul and Joan fell in love and were married on April 11, 1954.&nbsp; Together, they raised their four children, Deborah, Daniel, John, and James.

Paul obtained degrees from Gilead HS, Manchester College (BS), Bethany Seminary (MDiv), University of Michigan (MA), and Purdue University (PhD).&nbsp; 

He spent his entire life in service and was known as a pastor, educator, administrator, philosopher, theologian, counselor, pilot, farmer, athlete, and coach.&nbsp; Paul was loved and respected by many.&nbsp; His priorities were family relationships, service to others, giving to causes, and forgiving.

Paul served as a pastor for the Church of the Brethren before returning to Manchester College (now University) as a Dean of Students for 14 years.&nbsp; In 1976, he moved his family to Kansas to become the president at McPherson College.&nbsp; He was passionate about his work at McPherson College and spent 20 years serving as the president, retiring in 1996.

Paul is survived by his wife Joanna Begerow Hoffman of McPherson; son-in-law John Wagoner of McPherson; son Dan and Dawn (Robbins) Hoffman of McPherson; son John and Sandra (Sharp) Hoffman of McPherson; son Jim and Lisa (Lee) Hoffman of McPherson; a sister, Elizabeth Bauer of North Manchester, IN; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by daughter Deb Wagoner; grandson Samuel Dean Hoffman; great-granddaughter Ophelia (Hoffman) Santillan; brother John Hoffman; and sister Miriam Bunnel.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Chris Whitacre and Rev. Kathryn Whitacre officiating.&nbsp; The final resting place will be at the Monitor Cemetery.

Rosemary Charlene Freeman, age 89, passed away peacefully at Bridgewater Healthcare Center in Carmel, Indiana on Thursday, September 29, 2022 surrounded by family.

Rosemary was born on July 22, 1933 in Simpson, Kansas to her parents, Marjorie Pfeifer and James Collins. She was the oldest of four children and grew up in the home of her grandparents, Charles and Mattie Pfeiffer. The family first lived on a farm outside of town and later in the town of Simpson where Rosemary graduated from high school.&nbsp; 

She was preceded in death by an infant brother Eldon Wayne Carlton, and husband W. Ronald Freeman. 

She is survived by sister Wanda (Carlton) Barnes of Denver, CO and brother Wesley Carlton of Greensburg, KS.

Rosemary married her high school sweetheart W. Ronald Freeman on June 24, 1952 in Caney, Kansas. 

She accepted Christ as her personal savior as a young adult. She clung to her faith tenaciously and was diligent in “working out her salvation with fear and trembling.”

Early in their marriage Ron and Rosemary lived in several Kansas towns including Minneapolis, Concordia, and Salina, then later. Wichita where they raised their family. For two years in the early 1970s they volunteered as house parents at the Wesleyan Indian Children’s Home in Custer, South Dakota and American Indian Mission in Rapid City, South Dakota. Following their service in South Dakota, they returned to Wichita, Kansas. Later moves for Rosemary included Hillsboro, and Beloit, Kansas; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Carmel, Indiana.

Rosemary was talented in many areas including singing, writing and art. She enjoyed reading and was a “lover of books.” Many of her articles were published in denominational and other Christian publications. She authored and illustrated a book,&nbsp;The Day of the Song, following a trip to visit her daughter’s family during their first term as missionaries in Guatemala.&nbsp; For many years, she wrote, published and distributed a monthly newsletter, “The Kinsfolk Courier,” for family and friends.

Rosemary is survived by her four children: Rhonda Charlene (Robert) Gilbert, Ronald W. (Marilyn) Freeman, Rob J. (Theresa) Freeman, and Randall (Linda) Freeman, fourteen (14) grandchildren, thirty-seven (37) great-grandchildren, and two (2) great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Roberts Family Funeral Service, 910 Campbell, Beloit, KS 67420. Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 12-1 p.m.

Interment will follow at the Highland Church Cemetery, 312-382 Lark Road, Glasco, KS 66948.

She authored and illustrated a book,&nbsp;The Day of the Song, following a trip to visit her daughter’s family during their first term as missionaries in Guatemala.&nbsp; For many years, she wrote, published and distributed a monthly newsletter, “The Kinsfolk Courier,” for family and friends.Rosemary is survived by her four children: Rhonda Charlene (Robert) Gilbert, Ronald W. (Marilyn) Freeman, Rob J. Dean E. Alexander, age 88, entered into rest on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home is Sachse, Texas. He was born on November 26, 1933, on the family farm in Clifton, Kansas to Trefflia and Elizabeth (Esslinger) Alexander. He was the youngest of their seven children.

Dean was a 1951 graduate of Clifton High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Kansas State University in 1955. Dean later earned his master’s degree in business from Webster University in 1973.

He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1979 as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, Dean was a Fighter-Interceptor pilot, Flight Training Instructor, Air Ops Officer, TAC Fighter/Special Tactics, and Air Commander.

On December 26, 1955, he married Nanella Racette in Clifton, Kansas. They were blessed with five children, raising them on three continents over the course of his military career.

When Dean retired from the United States Air Force, he and Nanella purchased a gourmet popcorn franchise in a San Antonio, Texas shopping mall. They chose the company name by combining their own names (Dean + Nan = Deanan). Over the next several years, they bought and sold several retail locations. This allowed them to work together and involve the three of their five children still living at home. In 1987, he developed a fundraising program that proved to be so successful, he sold his retail shops. The business continued to grow and is now a nationwide fundraising and manufacturing company. Dean retired in 2005 after 26 years in business, selling Deanan Gourmet Popcorn to his five children, who continue to operate it today. 

His legacy includes a third generation working in the business. &nbsp;Dean was passionate about small business, his family, serving his community, and his faith. Having been an altar boy in childhood, he readily helped whenever the opportunity arose for the rest of his life.

He was a life member of the American Legion Post #227, Clifton, KS, and the Daedalians, the fellowship of military aviators. Community service was a priority wherever he lived. He was a source of wisdom and encouragement to each of his children.

Survivors include his wife Nanella Alexander, Sachse, TX; daughter Alisa Martin, Sachse, TX; daughter Barbara Hodge (John), Sachse, TX; son Mark Alexander (Karen), Lucas, TX; daughter Janet Aaron (Victor) Plano, TX; and, daughter Amy Alexander (Kelli Shepard), Phoenix, AZ. He was a proud grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of nine. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Rita Alexander of Clifton, KS.&nbsp; 

He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m, Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, KS. Family will receive friends after the vigil/rosary service.

Vigil and rosary will be on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, KS. His funeral Mass will be conducted by Fr. Joseph Kieffer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clifton at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022. A light lunch will be served after the graveside service.

James “Jim” C. Workman, age 83, of Concordia, KS, left this earthly life on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home in Concordia, KS.&nbsp; He was born on September 23, 1939 in Centralia, Washington, to Pete and Lizz (Girard) Workman.

Jim attended Centralia, Washington schools while growing up.&nbsp; He married Barbara Ann Chartier on June 25, 1960 in Fairbury, NE.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2022.

He served in the United States Air Force for four years from 1956-1960 and was honorably discharged.&nbsp; Jim was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Amarillo, TX and Salina, KS, where he met his love of life Barbara in Concordia.

He owned and operated Workman Transport, Inc. for many years until he retired in 2004.

He was a member of the Concordia Moose Lodge #1428.

Jim and Barbara loved to travel the country and he was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.&nbsp; Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters Mary Walker (Ronnie), Concordia, KS and Crystal Perrin, (Lance Salazar), Concordia, KS; grandchildren Stephanie Ryals (Jerrod), Christopher Walker (Jessica), Colton Halfhide, Ciara Halfhide, Riley Halfhide (Josie) and Ariana Perrin; great-grandchildren, Paxton, Gavyn, Landon and Brooklyn Ryals, Serenity and Peacelyn Walker, Khalani Jo; sister Pat Pollard, Kirkland, WA; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Betty Menor, Poyne, AR; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by a son, James P. “Jimmy” Workman, his parents Pete and Lizz, two sisters, Dreena and Barbara, brother-in-law Rocky Pollard, sister-in-law Pat Miller.

It was Jim’s wishes to be cremated and memorial services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the local American Legion Post #76, VFW Post #588, Concordia, KS and McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard, Wichita, KS.

Burial of the cremains will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.&nbsp; Friends may sign the register book from 1-5 pm, Monday, October 3, 2022 at the funeral home and friends are welcome to stop by the house and visit with the family.&nbsp; Following the graveside, a luncheon will be served at the American Legion, Concordia.

Robert “Bob” Kooser passed away Thursday, September 29th at the age of 88. Bob was born September 3rd, 1934, in Summerfield, KS, the son of Robert Eugene and Helen Elizabeth Kooser. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen and his son Mark Ryan Kooser. Robert met the love of his life, Normaglee (Glee) O’Neil at the age of 16 in Beatie, KS and they were married in January 1954.

After experiencing several harsh winters working for the railroad on the plains of Nebraska away from home, he decided it was time to take a calculated business risk by operating the Skyline Truck Stop in Marysville, KS. In October of 1960 he moved to Abilene, KS and ran the Sinclair gas station. After a year he took over the Texaco gas station one block away and one year later he took over the Texaco bulk oil and gas business. In 1983 Bob and Glee joined into the Amway business with Staton and Jody and built a large organization of friends and enjoyed mentoring many people in their Amway business. They enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and many other fun destinations. In 1995, Bob and Staton formed a business partnership and operated FasTrack Lube Pro’s together for 23 years. After his wife, his second greatest passion was cars. He once traded his car for a house and he didn’t always remember the most important dates but could always remember the car he was driving to coincide with the dates. He was always looking for ways to entertain his children, such as buying a ski boat for a family that didn’t know how to swim, then he traded the boat for a horse named Linda, then Linda had a foal that no one rode so he traded the horses for a Harley Davidson that he barely rode. Bob was an avid hunter, on one of his later hunting trips, he came back with the largest bird imaginable, a Lincoln Continental. Family was always the most important thing to Bob. He was always a great example of what a good Catholic father and husband should be. Everything he did was for his family and God. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, he attained the Fourth Degree and was a Grand Knight. He was active in church at St. Andrews serving as lector, usher, Eucharistic Minister, and a supporter of St. Andrew's School. He was also active in the Abilene community through the Chamber of Commerce, serving as a member, and President and enjoyed business ribbon cuttings. Bob is survived by his wife Normaglee, three children, Marsha (Joel) Voran, Leawood, KS, Staton (Jody) Kooser, Abilene, KS, Greg Kooser, Brooklyn, NY, and sisters Sharon Durkes, Eskridge, KS, Linda (Bruce) Bond, Paxico, KS. He had eight grandchildren; Christina Frank, Erica Anderson, Ryan Kooser, Ben Voran, Diane Kooser, Ashley Mitts, Matthew Kooser and Michael Kooser, and 14 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be 10:00 am Monday, October 3, 2022 at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as Celebrant. Earnest Anders Hanson left this world on September 28th, 2022. He was born on May 10th, 1930 to Clarence W. and Linnea (Monthan) Hanson in Elkhart, Kansas. He graduated from Hiawatha, KS in 1948. 

From 1948 to 1959 he was a sergeant in the Army National Guard. He also worked for United Telephone Co. from 1948 until he retired in 1992. 

In March 1962 he married Shirley A. (Garrison) Edlin. Of that union he gained three sons: William (Rose) Edlin; Steven (Donna) Edlin; and Gregory (Beverly) Edlin. They were together until her passing in 2016. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson. 

He is survived by two brothers, three sons, seven grand children, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

A memorial service for Earnest will be 1:00 p.m.., Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Enterprise Community Church in Enterprise.

He was born on May 10th, 1930 to Clarence W. and Linnea (Monthan) Hanson in Elkhart, Kansas. He graduated from Hiawatha, KS in 1948. From 1948 to 1959 he was a sergeant in the Army National Guard. He also worked for United Telephone Co. from 1948 until he retired in 1992. In March 1962 he married Shirley A. (Garrison) Edlin. Of that union he gained three sons: William (Rose) Edlin; Steven (Donna) Edlin; and Gregory (Beverly) Edlin. They were together until her passing in 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson. He is survived by two brothers, three sons, seven grand children, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A memorial service for Earnest will be 1:00 p.m.., Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Enterprise Community Church in Enterprise. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Enterprise Community Church. Sharon Ann Bafford Meeks was born on May 7, 1941 to Eloise and Dellis Bafford. She was flown away to meet in person the lover of her soul, friend, Lord and Savior September 27, 2022 on the birthday of her beloved daughter Celestina Johnson. 

Sharon spent the last 11 years of her life in Abilene becoming well known and loved in the community. Before that she lived in Portland Oregon and Emmett Idaho and spent some of her best years with her wonderful husband David Meeks, who adored her. She was most proud of being a mother of four children and having been a nurses’ aide as a young woman. She was a caretaker and lover of people her whole life. Most who encountered her would mention how sweet she was. No one was a stranger, everyone a friend. Sharon’s joyful spirit and appreciation for having fun was contagious. With her God given superpower (LOVE) and by the grace of God, she was able to endure many trials in her life and continued to love unconditionally; no wonder so many people called her Mom. Our most special, sweet, and spunky Mom and Nanna will be missed by so many including her four children, Celestina Johnson, Sharon Ross, James Pio and Jolynda Collier, as well as 12 grandchildren (local: Tony Lawson, Sarah Woods, and Cord Lawson) and 20 great-grandchildren (local: Dammion Woods, Sierra Woods, Joshua Woods, Isaiah Woods and Gabriel Woods, Danna Lawson and Aiden Lawson).

She was preceded in death by her mother Eloise and father Dellis Bafford, her husband David Meeks, two of her sisters and her youngest brother. Kathryn Jane (Basinger) Driver, 90, passed away Sept 28, 2022.&nbsp; She was born in Wichita KS, Sept 14, 1932.

She attended elementary and junior high schools in Wichita.&nbsp; After 
her father returned home from WWII the family moved to Garden City; 
while there, she completed high school.&nbsp; She ultimately received her BA 
degree in Business Administration – Public Administration from the 
College of Santa Fe, in Santa Fe, NM at the age of 59.&nbsp; 

She married Dr. 
Richard “Kay” Driver and lived in Goodland, KS; she was a homemaker and 
loved to play golf at Sugar Hills Country Club, where she was the Ladies
 Club Champion in the early 1970s.&nbsp; In 1975 she moved back to Garden 
City and worked in the insurance industry.&nbsp; Her twin sister suggested 
she relocate to New Mexico where she worked for the Los Alamos National 
Laboratory. Upon retiring she moved to Albuquerque, NM.&nbsp; In 2000, she 
joined her son and his family in Salina.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jane’s passion for nature, 
gardening, and Southwest Indian culture was always evident in her 
jewelry she wore and her home décor.&nbsp; She was a proud master gardener 
and an avid KSU fan.&nbsp; She was very active in hr church serving as a 
Deacon and Elder at the Salina First Presbyterian Church.

She leaves behind; son, Dr. Kenton Driver (Dr. Stacy Clark), and 
their children, Bailey and Benjamin; grandson, Kirby Driver Jr (Brenda),
 their children, Kaylee, Kirby and Kamden of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, 
Kelly Driver, and her daughter, Kennedy of Dallas, TX; and 
daughter-in-law, Teresa Driver of Dallas, TX.&nbsp; Preceded in death by son,
 Kirby Driver; her twin sister, Kathleen Joan Holliway; and parents, 
Clayton and Eloise Basinger.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct 10, 2022 at the Salina First Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the donor’s 
choice, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the Salina First
 Presbyterian Church, Social Justice and Missions.
