SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on multiple charges after an arrest.

Just before 3p.m. March 3, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 white Buick Century at SW 37th Street and South Kansas Avenue in Topeka, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

 During the investigation, deputies located narcotics and drug paraphernalia. They arrested&nbsp;Brandon J. Norris, 23, of Topeka for a felony warrant and a requested charge of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

They also arrested Crystal J. Mack, 29, of Topeka was on requested charges that include possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Norris and Mack were booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections, according to Christian.

The loss sees Cloud County fall to 5-6 overall and 4-6 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while the Pirates move into sole possession of third in the KJCCC East Division while improving to 10-4 overall and 6-2 in league play.

An opening two minutes of scoreless basketball to begin the game would make way for a 10-2 Independence run as the Pirates would hit on a pair of three pointers early to go up eight with 6:03 left in the first quarter. Another triple for the Pirates would give Indy their largest lead of the quarter at 13-2 as the T-Birds would battle back with three of the next four points as the offensive flow for CCCC would begin to come together. T-Bird women's basketball falls to Independence

The final day of the first round of sub-state bracket play is in the books and of our 18 area teams who entered 9 will be advancing to the next round.

Tonight saw four schools in action spread throughout three games. The first to go final featured the Chapman Lady Irish on the road at Clay Center where they fell to the undefeated Lady Tigers by a final score of 53-11.

Chapman will wrap up its season at 1-16 while Clay Center advances to the tournament final to face Concordia on Saturday.

The second of our three games today featured both Salina boys teams with the South Cougars playing host to the Central Mustangs.

Despite being the underdog, Central jumped out to an early lead and finished the first quarter up 13-3.

The Cougars however, returned to form, retaking the lead late in the third quarter and holding it until the final horn knocking off the Mustangs 46-33.

Central finishes it’s 2020-21 campaign at 6-14 while South advances to the sub-state final to face the #1 team in class 5A in the Hays Indians.

Hays knocked off Great Bend by a final score of 58-38 tonight and will host the Cougars on Saturday.

The third and final game of the day saw the Abilene Cowgirls on the road at Concordia.

Abilene took an early 12-7 lead into the second quarter and kept the game tied at half, but little by little the Panthers pulled away, knocking off the Cowgirls by a final score of 57-52.

Abilene finishes their season 4-14 while Concordia advances to face #2 Clay Center on Saturday.

Round two of sub-state tournament play will begin tomorrow and will continue through the weekend. The final schedule as far as it has been released is as follows.

Thursday 8pm: Southeast of Saline girls at Hesston (Hesston High School) 8pm: Sacred Heart boys vs. Hutch Trinity (Ell-Saline High School)

Friday 5:30pm: Solomon boys vs. Sylvan-Lucas (Canton-Galva High School) 7pm: South girls vs. Central girls (Central High School) 7pm: Abilene boys vs. Concordia (Abilene High School) 8pm: Southeast of Saline boys at Hesston (Hesston High School) 8pm: Sacred Heart girls vs. Moundridge (Ell-Saline High School)

Saturday 3pm: South boys at Hays (Hays High School)

The first to go final featured the Chapman Lady Irish on the road at Clay Center where they fell to the undefeated Lady Tigers by a final score of 53-11.Chapman will wrap up its season at 1-16 while Clay Center advances to the tournament final to face Concordia on Saturday.The second of our three games today featured both Salina boys teams with the South Cougars playing host to the Central Mustangs.Despite being the underdog, Central jumped out to an early lead and finished the first quarter up 13-3.The Cougars however, returned to form, retaking the lead late in the third quarter and holding it until the final horn knocking off the Mustangs 46-33.Central finishes it’s 2020-21 campaign at 6-14 while South advances to the sub-state final to face the #1 team in class 5A in the Hays Indians.Hays knocked off Great Bend by a final score of 58-38 tonight and will host the Cougars on Saturday.The third and final game of the day saw the Abilene Cowgirls on the road at Concordia.Abilene took an early 12-7 lead into the second quarter and kept the game tied at half, but little by little the Panthers pulled away, knocking off the Cowgirls by a final score of 57-52.Abilene finishes their season 4-14 while Concordia advances to face #2 Clay Center on Saturday.Round two of sub-state tournament play will begin tomorrow and will continue through the weekend. Sharon Kay (Larson) Levendofsky passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, surrounded by her family.&nbsp; Sharon was born on July 24, 1950 in rural Delphos, KS to Lawrence “Wesley” and Viola (Webster) Larson.&nbsp;

She attended Delphos Attendance Center and graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1968 after participating in cheerleading, band, a singing trio, and Kay Club.&nbsp; She attended Kansas Wesleyan University for two years, and then graduated from Asbury School of Nursing as a registered nurse.&nbsp; She started her career at Cloud County Health Center, and then transitioned to working at Ottawa County Health Center and the Ottawa County Health Department for many years.&nbsp; While working there, she filled many roles, including Director of Nursing, Director of Education, Risk Management, Quality Assurance, and she also started the Ottawa County Home Health Department and the Ottawa County Hospice.&nbsp; Sharon also helped start the Compassionate Friends support group for bereaved parents.&nbsp; She was extremely passionate about helping others, and she loved taking care of her patients and their families.&nbsp; Sharon won the Minneapolis Chamber Woman of the Year Award in 1990.

On August 26, 1972, Sharon married William Levendofsky, and to this union four children were born.&nbsp; Sharon enjoyed all the hustle and bustle of raising her children, including taking them to sports activities, dance recitals, and 4-H events.&nbsp; She was the queen of multi-tasking and holds a family record of getting two speeding tickets in 24 hours, both of which involved trying to get her children to their event on time.&nbsp; In her more recent years, Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them to cook, reading books while making funny voices, and singing songs - they were her pride and joy.&nbsp;

Sharon was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Delphos, and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Minneapolis.&nbsp; She taught Catechism for years and sometimes played the organ.&nbsp; She organized many church meals and loved the people in her parish.&nbsp; She was also a member of Delphos Women’s Club and was very appreciative of the rides from other members in her later years.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bill of the home; her children, Brad (Nicole) Levendofsky of Edmond, OK, Brian Levendofsky of Bennington, Keri (Juanito) Ymballa of Minneapolis, and Kelli (Danny) Morrison of Bennington; 14 grandchildren, Morgan, Piper, and Garrett Levendofsky; Chloe and Ayden Levendofsky; Lane and Wyatt Griffin, Avery, Isabel, and Emilia Ymballa; and Chasyn, Natalie, Elizabeth, and Kathryn Morrison; her sister, Suzanne (Dennis) Foerschler of Minneapolis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held for family only at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 8, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis.&nbsp; The public is invited to the graveside service in the Delphos Cemetery at approximately 12:30 P.M. Monday.&nbsp; Visitation without family present will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, March 7 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. WICHITA – AAA Kansas announced today that 43 law enforcement agencies – comprising 32 police departments and 11 sheriff’s offices – throughout the state are being honored with AAA Kansas Community Traffic Safety Awards for their 2020 work to keep roadways in their cities and counties safe through a variety of initiatives and programs, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The awards have been presented annually since 2011 by AAA Kansas to community law enforcement agencies for their efforts to successfully and cost-effectively foster and improve local traffic safety. The agencies are scored and recognized for their efforts in multiple categories, including education, emergency medical response, enforcement and traffic engineering collaborations and solutions.

“Our police departments and sheriff’s offices in Kansas do an excellent job of keeping motorists, cyclists and pedestrians safe in their communities,” said Shawn Steward, Public and Government Affairs Manager for AAA Kansas. “We salute these 43 law enforcement partners for their commitment, hard work and, in many cases, creative community engagement, in delivering effective and successful traffic safety programs. Our roadways are safer because of them.”

SCOTT COUNTY—Two people injured in an accident during a chase by law enforcement just before 12:30a.m. Thursday in Scott County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the Scott County Sheriff's office was in pursuit of a 2002 Nissan Altima driven by Monica Renee Garcia, 33, Ogallala, NE, eastbound on County Road 290&nbsp;at North Omaha Road one mile east of U.S. 83.

Garcia lost control of the Nissan.&nbsp; It traveled off the road to the south and rolled.

EMS transported Garcia and a passenger in the Nissan David Paul Nuno, 24, Kearney, NE, to the Scott County Hospital.&nbsp; Garcia was also not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.&nbsp; &nbsp;Nuno has been booked into the Scott County jail, according to online jail records.

Community gives us tons of tactical knowledge for growing our businesses. More than that, community provides support. We get encouragement to keep going when things get tough. We get validation that our product or service&nbsp;is&nbsp;important. We get creative ideas, a fresh perspective and wisdom from people who are striving after the same goals we are. Community gives us the opportunity to look other women in the eye, and hear them share the same doubts and fears and questions we have. There’s so much power in realizing,&nbsp;Hey, I’m not the only one.

No matter where you are in your journey as a business owner, make community your top priority today. Connect with entrepreneurs both inside and outside your industry. You’ll benefit from having a wide variety of perspectives and experiences. Find groups online, on social networks, or through in-person events.

According to a report by the Associate Press, the new threat appears to be connected to a far-right conspiracy theory, mainly promoted by supporters of QAnon, that former President Donald Trump will rise again to power on Thursday.

Up until 1933, when the 20th Amendment to the Constitution moved the end date of a presidential term, and, thus, the inauguration of the incoming president, to Jan. 20, March 4 was the date of presidential inaugurations.

The latest threat comes as FBI Director Chris Wray on Tuesday told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the violent Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol was "domestic terrorism." After a nearby rally earlier on Jan. 6, thousands of supporters of then-President Donald Trump descended on the Capitol, where Congress was meeting to certify Democrat Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election. More than 800 people are believed to have made it inside the building during the siege, the Associate Press reported. Five people died as a result of the melee, including a Capitol police officer who was struck in the head with a fire extinguisher.

Wray also shot down claims that members of antifa and anarchists posing as Trump supporters were really the ones attacking the Capitol.

“We have not, to date, seen any evidence of anarchist violent extremists or people subscribing to antifa in connection with the 6th,” Wray testified.

During his testimony Tuesday, Wray also warned of a rapidly growing threat of homegrown violent extremism that law enforcement is scrambling to confront, the Associated Press reported.

Hatred for people who believe differently and belief in conspiracy theories have both exploded in recent years, with fear and anxiety at their root, according to Dr. Tor Wynn, associate professor of sociology and criminology at Friends University. 

Several sources of fear and anxiety stand out, Wynn noted.

"First, 9/11 fundamentally changed this country. It made us question our safety from the violence of the world and accelerated the decline of trust we have for other people in our community," he explained. "For example, the Uniform Crime Report shows that crime in the United States steadily and rapidly declined up until the past two years, but surveys (Gallup, etc.) over the last 20 years show that Americans feel that crime is steadily getting worse. Not coincidentally, that divergence between reality and public attitudes started in 2001."

Wynn also noted that the Great Recession of 2007-2010 "brought into stark relief the economic fear that grips the vast majority of the population. Income and wealth inequality have been rising for 50 years and with greater job instability people are recognizing that the system is stacked against them."

According to Wynn, a third source is what he calls "the generational effect."

"Every 75-85 years the U.S. reaches a crisis point and cries out for national revival. The three greatest presidents in the U.S. history were those who led the nation out of these crises. Roosevelt in the 1930s and 40s, Lincoln in the 1860s, and Washington in the 1780s. And that rough beast is slouching toward Bethlehem once again. Polls show that Americans have become less trusting of others for the past few decades and instead worship at the altar of individualism," he explained.

An additional factor, according to Dr. Michael A. Smith, professor of political science and chair of social sciences at Emporia State University, is the rise of social issues over economic ones.

"It is much harder to compromise on issues perceived as moral imperatives than it is to compromise over funding or taxes. Both sides believe they are fighting for moral imperatives and that makes compromise nearly impossible.  The discrediting of the 'mainstream' news media by many on the right also means that we are no longer working from a shared set of facts," Smith explained.

The whole situation is complicated, Smith noted.

"I recommend the book, Super Mad About Everything All the Time, by my friend Alison Dagnes. Basically, she argues that we have become separated because we can now self-select our sources of news. Humans already have a strong bias toward self-selecting stories or interpretations of stories that fit our pre-existing biases rather than challenging them, and the existence of separate news 'bubbles' only makes this worse," he explained.

Wynn maintains that 21st century media, including 24-hour television and internet news, as well as social media, fuel the fear.

"Ted Turner turned out to be one of the most heinous architects of our current dysfunctions. CNN seemed like a good idea, a place Americans could go to catch up on the news of the day anytime from any television. The problem is that there isn’t enough news (about and of interest to Americans) to fill up 24 hours. As such they decided to bring on talking heads to offer opinion pieces on the news. The more outrageous things these people would say the higher the ratings their shows received, the more money in the pockets of everyone," Wynn explained.

Those issues only intensified as the internet overtook television and became people's primary source of information and cash-from-clicks began, he added.  

"The way to get clicks was by using outrage to monetize users fear and hate. Content providers understood quickly that out-of-context clips, creative editing, and making things up whole cloth, could readily turn innocuous events into outrageous acts that would catch and hold interest," Wynn noted.

The bubbles came into play again as "programmers developed algorithms ensuring that dubious sources of anger and misanthropy had their platforms supersized while those who were more evenhanded and honest were pushed aside. These same algorithms promoted information sources -- YouTube videos, social media friends, etc. -- based on those you had clicked previously, creating distinctive ‘bubbles’ of information that further pit groups and internet communities against each other," Wynn explained.

According to Wynn, "The research shows that even though social media purports to be all about building communities, in reality they build anger, antagonism, and mistrust among users. One of the key findings from my research is that heavy social media use significantly increases people’s belief in every type of conspiracy theory."

Wynn noted that "since the advent of the internet, the USA has become increasingly energized by fear and hate and increasingly susceptible to conspiratorial thinking." Political conservatism, however, also has played a role.

"My research showed that political conservatism was the second most important factor — after social media use — in terms of increasing belief in conspiracies, particularly anti-government conspiracies," he added. 

One of the more heard of conspiracy espousing groups is QAnon. QAnon adherents had a major presence in the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol. But what is QAnon? Smith explained recently in a blog post on the Midwest Political Science Association MPSA website.* The following paragraph is from that blog post.

"QAnon is short for Q Anonymous.&nbsp; Its&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/53498434">basic tenent</a>&nbsp;is that leading members of the Democratic Party operate a child trafficking ring in which abducted children are&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-qanon-became-obsessed-with-adrenochrome-an-imaginary-drug-hollywood-is-harvesting-from-kids">bled in order to obtain a substance called&nbsp;adrenochrome</a>, which is naturally synthesized from adrenaline by the human body.&nbsp; Members of the cabal supposedly drink this chemical in order to get high and seek eternal life.&nbsp; QAnon adherents also believe that these leading Democrats worship Satan.&nbsp; One target particularly hated by the followers is&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/stories-49584157">billionaire currency trader George Soros</a>, who gives a great deal of money to Democratic candidates and nonprofits. &nbsp;Soros is also Jewish, and for centuries Judaism has been a popular target for conspiracy theories worldwide, particularly when&nbsp;<a href="https://www.britannica.com/story/where-do-anti-semitic-conspiracy-theories-about-the-rothschild-family-come-from">connected to wealth and banking</a>. &nbsp;Others named include Bill and Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Sandra Bullock and Ellen DeGeneres, and of course the late pedophile and investor Jeffrey Epstein, who had friendly relationships with both&nbsp;<a href="https://www.vox.com/2019/7/9/20686347/jeffrey-epstein-trump-bill-clinton">former President Clinton and former President Trump</a>. &nbsp;QAnon followers focus only on his relationship with Clinton."

"The insurrectionists were true believers, flailing around to make sense of an increasingly uncertain world. They landed on conspiracies that demonized liberals, Democrats, and RINOS — including the vice president — as traitors, pedophiles, and cannibals who served an international cabal bent on the destruction of everything Americans hold dear," Wynn noted. "The woman shot by the Capitol police officer is a good example of this. Through social media she tried out several different philosophies to make sense of the world. She finally settled on one that, despite being complete nonsense, gave her a sense of importance, a feeling of control over the tide of history."

Both Smith and Wynn noted that many hard-core Trump supporters view him more as one would a religious leader rather than a politician.

In discussing those who stormed the Capitol, Wynn explained, "These true believers found their messiah in the 45th president, a man who gave voice to their burgeoning beliefs about the world. As it became increasingly obvious that November’s election was lost and Trump was about to be put out to pasture, they became increasingly agitated. The election clearly demonstrated that their worldview was accepted by only a small minority of Americans and was continually being refuted by real-world events. Research clearly demonstrates that when confronted with the evidence that their belief system is false, conspiracy believers double down and become increasingly upset and unhinged from reality."

"QAnon views Trump as a savior. This is literal, not a metaphor. Followers have produced comic book-like depictions of Trump with the stigmata in his hands. (Stigmata are the wounds Jesus sustained when being nailed to the cross). They believe that at some point, called the storm, Trump will have members of the cabal arrested and either incarcerate or execute them," Smith wrote in the MPSA blog post*.

A part of the conspiracy was that on Jan. 6, Trump would step in at the last minute, and remain president for another four years. Then he was supposed to, at the last moment, stop Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20, and stay in the White House for four more years. When that didn't happen, hardcore believers bought into another change in the timeline for Trump resuming the presidency. That change was to Thursday (March 4).

"QAnon and other conspiracy theories capture the hardest core of Trump supporters, people who have a deep emotional commitment to the former President and his promise to 'Make America Great Again,'" Smith explained. "He made sense out of their world and promised to make it better. They are not emotionally ready to let go."

Another Capitol threat in the time of hate and conspiracy theories

Today is Thursday, March 4, the 63rd day of 2021. There are 302 days left in the year. 

On March 4, 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt took office as America's 32nd president. 

In 1789, the Constitution of the United States went into effect as the first Federal Congress met in New York. (The lawmakers then adjourned for lack of a quorum.) 

In 1797, John Adams was inaugurated the second president of the United States.

In 1863, the Idaho Territory was created.

In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated for a second term of office; with the end of the Civil War in sight, Lincoln declared: "With malice toward none, with charity for all."

MONTGOMERY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities&nbsp; investigating an armed robbery in Coffeyville communicated suspect vehicle and occupant information to deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, according to Sheriff Ron Wade.

Deputies were able to locate the suspect vehicle on U.S. Highway 169 North of Cherryvale and conducted a traffic stop.&nbsp; Deputies found two suspect in the vehicle.

Deputies took Sah’mondre Vanburen, age 23, of Parsons, Kansas and a juvenile into custody and transported them to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office where they were booked on the requested charge of Aggravated Robbery.

RILEY COUNTY—A suspect in a series of alleged rapes that occurred in Ogden, Kansas from 2004-2012 has been extradited back to Kansas to face charges.

Michael James Tschantz, 46, Naples, Texas is being held on a $600,000 bond in the Riley County Jail on requested charges of 5 counts of rape of a victim under the age of 14, according to the Riley County booking report.

On November 11, 2020, officers filed a report for several past rape and aggravated criminal sodomy offenses in Ogden, listing a now 21-year-old woman as the victim and a now 46-year-old male known to her as the suspect, according to Riley County Police Department spokesperson Aaron Wintermote.

On February 19, police in Texas arrested Tschantz on a Riley County District Court warrant for five counts of rape of a child under 14 years of age.

&nbsp;Larry Berndt, age 67, departed this life on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in Beloit, Kansas following a lengthy illness.

Larry Dean Berndt was born February 26, 1954, in Concordia, Kansas, to Harlan and Mildred Berndt. He was raised in Glasco, Kansas, and graduated with the class of 1972. Upon graduating, he attended North Central Kansas Area Vocational Technical School in Beloit, Kansas. He graduated with a degree in agriculture in 1974.

With a long-time love for the land, Larry spent his life farming and raising cattle in and around the Glasco area. As a lifelong resident of Glasco, Larry took great pride in becoming the third generation of the Berndt Family to farm in the Solomon River Valley area.&nbsp; He loved the area and loved to spend time on the farm and in the fields. He farmed for many years until health issues caused him to retire.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed collecting and sharing stories with friends and family and was widely considered to be the family historian, he always had a tale of adventure or a joke for his six nieces and nephews and shared many laughs around a good meal.

Better known as Seymour to many of his friends, Larry never knew a stranger and always had fun learning more about people and sharing stories. A favorite memory of Larry’s was his adventure along with friends from Glasco, as they traveled to the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred and father, Harlan. He is survived by his four siblings: Michael (Suzanne) Berndt of Venice, Florida; Janet (John) Siler of Belmont, North Carolina; James (Patty) Berndt of Centralia, Missouri and Phillip (Stacey) Berndt) of Topeka, Kansas; six nieces and nephews: Yvonne Berndt of Centralia, Missouri; Nathan Siler of Richmond, Kentucky; Allison Siler Capps of Oxford, North Carolina; Erica Berndt Shaffer of Centralia, Missouri; Torey Berndt of Kansas City, Missouri and Chance Berndt of Phoenix, Arizona; and seven great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 19, at the VFW Building in Glasco, Kansas. Interment of his ashes will follow at the Glasco Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 AM to 5 PM Thursday, March 18 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Glasco VFW.

Memorial services will be at 10 AM Friday, March 19 at the Glasco VFW Hall. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 5 PM Thursday, March 18 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Glasco VFW Hall.

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Officials at the Sedgwick County Jail started an investigation last week into contraband brought into the jail, according to Sheriff Jeff Easter.

That contraband included K2 or synthetic marijuana, cell phones, phone chargers, lighters and marijuana.

During the investigation, detectives discovered a detention deputy had been involved in neglect of an inmate, according to Easter.&nbsp; Officials determined there was enough probable cause to arrest and book Detention <a href="https://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriffinmates/SheriffInmateDetail.aspx?nameId=20069772">deputy David Cameron</a> on requested charges of mistreatment of a confined prisoner and for trafficking contraband.

Investigators recovered four cell phones, K2, tobacco, marijuana and a lighter, according to Easter.

In one jail pod where the contraband was introduced, investigators conducted interviews and there are more interviews to do before charges will be presented to the district attorney's office.&nbsp;

Cameron, began employment with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in June of 2019 and has been placed on unpaid suspension, according to Easter.

JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on multiple charges after a traffic stop.

Just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, a sheriff’s deputy stopped at 2005 Lexus for a traffic infraction near 150th and Q.4 Road, according to sheriff Tim Morse.

The deputies seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle.

 </figure>JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on multiple charges after a traffic stop.Just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, a sheriff’s deputy stopped at 2005 Lexus for a traffic infraction near 150th and Q.4 Road, according to sheriff Tim Morse.The deputies seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle. The driver, Jeffrey Scott Dunaway, 48, of Topeka, was arrested on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, no insurance and for two outstanding Jackson County District Court warrants. Dunaway was booked and remains in the Jackson County Jail.
