Sheriff's K9 helps Kan. deputies make drug arrest

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on drug charges after a traffic stop.

Just after 4p.m. Jan. 24, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a silver Mazda in the 4800 block of SE US 40 Highway, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, a K9 unit was deployed and narcotics were located. Deputies arrested the passenger identified as  William L. Jamerson Jr., 45, of Topeka, and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Alisha D. Swiger, 34, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a warrant out of Shawnee County, according to Christian.
