Abilene is preparing to welcome a captivating new exhibit to its cultural scene. The "See Kansas" exhibit will be showcased at the Abilene Public Library from June 1 to August 7.

"We are truly excited to be able to display the "See Kansas" exhibit in the Jordan Room at the library this summer," said Library Director Wendy Moulton. "Our 2024 Summer Reading theme for all ages is Adventure Begins at Your Library, and the travel poster-inspired art on display will encourage everyone to enjoy and explore our wonderful state and community."

Produced by Parks and Green Spaces&nbsp;Art Projects, the exhibit features the work of nine artists from across the state, celebrating iconic and historic Kansas landscapes. Among these is the latest addition, "See Abilene," highlighting many aspects that contribute to Abilene being recognized as the Best Historic Small Town.

"The "See Kansas" Art Project spotlights some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in the state," says Mary Gage, director of the project. "Nine Kansas artists were challenged to channel the beloved style of the National Parks Posters of the 1930s and '40s and produce unique new images for Kansans of favorite Kansas places. We're looking forward to sharing the exhibit of the artwork, as well as the new "See Abilene" poster, created in a similar style, with the community of Abilene this summer."

Visitors are encouraged to attend a special sneak peek unveiling of the "See Abilene" at the Abilene Public Library on Thursday, May 30, at 4 p.m.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with the Abilene Public Library and Parks and Green Spaces to bring this series to our community," said Julie Roller Weeks, Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau director. "The "See Kansas" series pieces are beautiful, and we're proud to add 'See Abilene' to its collection."

Copies of the "See Abilene" piece will be available for purchase at the Abilene Visitors Center.&nbsp;

Andera “Andi” Valentina (Newton) Allmond of El Dorado, Kansas breathed her last on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the age of 53. She was born to Ira and Willa Dean Newton on November 2, 1970. Andi was married to Wayne Allmond on July 4, 1990 in Wichita, Kansas. Andi loved the sunshine, having a good tan, spending time outdoors, and time with her grandchildren. She could find beauty in anything and collected rocks and seashells while fishing, one of her favorite pastimes that she liked to share with anyone who'd join. Linda Lou (Siebert) Campbell February 17, 1945 ~ May 29, 2024

She was Born to Rex Siebert and Olga (Stucklick) February 17, 1945 in Marion, Kansas. Linda married Duane Haselhorst in 1965.&nbsp; She was widowed with three sons in 1968: Roger, David (Shellie) and Darren (Carlene). In 1969, Linda met Bob (Robert Campbell).&nbsp; She accredited her guardian angel for sending him to her, and married him that same year. They were blessed with two children, Krista (Jim DeMars) and Matthew (Tina) both of Salina. The Haselhorst family fully embraced their marriage. Linda is preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Vernolis, and a half brother, David Tsumpes, and many in-laws on both sides of the family.

She is survived by her sister in-law Norma Campbell (Price), brother Ladd Siebert (Mary Jo) of South Dakota, brother John Siebert (Marianne) Florence, KS; half-brothers William Tsumpes (TX) and Brad Tsumpes(CA); sisters and brother in-laws of the Haselhorst family, Ellis County, KS, Doris Zimmerman (Carl), Donetta Lang (Donny), Debbie Hatfield (Glen dec.), Irvin (JR) Haselhorst (Gail), Eddie Schuckman (Roberta dec.), Dale Haselhorst (Shelley); grandchildren, Duane and Savonnah Haselhorst, Grant, Kasey and Emily DeMars, Keni, Ty (Mabyn) Campbell, K-Lee and Aaron (Waters) Shaye and Vallen Haselhorst; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Linda also had a beautiful circle of women to call friends.

Linda was a homemaker and had a home-based plaster business. She was employed by Advance Auto parts in the 1980s until her retirement. Over the past 40 years, Linda’s lifelong passion has been towards the care and protection of the unborn and their mothers. Her volunteer work as the Director of Birthright has helped hundreds of women and children in our community. Linda has been an active member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Parish her whole adult life.

The visitation will be Thursday, June 6 at Ryan Mortuary from 4-8 p.m. with a rosary vigil at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church 230 E. Cloud, Salina, with Fr. Kevin Weber, as celebrant.&nbsp; A burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

On Wednesday, May 29, a Salina man was injured after he crashed his motorcycle in rural Saline County. 

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan told Salina Post this morning that the accident occurred in the evening on May 29 and involved one motorcycle.

When the accident occurred, Logan Sullivan, 25, of Salina, was riding his motorcycle southbound on Burma Road with other motorcyclists.&nbsp;

"A red 2023 Ducati motorcycle was southbound on Burma Road, where it struck some gravel, lost control, and went off into the west ditch," Soldan said. "The deputy noted he had road rash on his arms and back."

According to Soldan, one of the other motorcyclists called the Saline County Sheriff's office to report the accident. EMS transported Sullivan to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of his injuries. 

Soldan said Sullivan was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.

Betty Jean (Humbarger) Bolte died Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Betty was born June 20, 1930, in Salina to Lee and Minnie (Walle) Humbarger.

Ernst and Betty were united in marriage on July 17, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salina. Betty was a member of the Culver United Methodist Church where she served as a board member. For many years, she made the communion bread that she helped serve the first Sunday of the month. Betty was an active member of the church’s quilting group helping to make a quilt each year for the After Harvest Festival. Her love of baking found her providing homemade pies for farm sale luncheons, funeral dinners, and the After Harvest Festival. Betty was first a helpmate to Ernst and mother to Steve and Glenice and worked tirelessly during harvest to provide a homecooked meal at noon and in whatever field they were working in at the time.&nbsp; She rushed to do chores and then back to the field again with more food at 4:00 P.M. to serve what was called “lunch.”&nbsp; Betty was employed at Nickerson Farms, located off I-70 and the Culver Road as a waitress for 11 years. She enjoyed serving neighbors as well as those traveling on I-70 to their destinations.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ernst; parents; brother, Milford Humbarger and his wife, Ivagene; and grandson, Duane Lee Bolte.

Survivors are her son, Steve Bolte and his wife, Chris; daughter, Glenice Cox and her husband, Michael; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, June 3, 2024, from 5;00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, with Pastor Tom Corman officiating. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery. Larry D. Brake November 3, 1949 ~&nbsp;May 28, 2024

Larry D. Brake, 74, Minneapolis, formerly of Atlanta, GA, died Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Minneapolis Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Larry was born November 3, 1949, in Salina to Dennis L. and Jeanette Irene (Mason) Brake.

He was a 1967 graduate of Minneapolis High School and then attended Hutchinson Juco and Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After working in Kansas and Wisconsin, Larry moved to Atlanta in 1972 and returned to Minneapolis earlier this year. While in Atlanta he worked for Trane for nine years before opening his own business, Brake and Hayden, from 1981 to 1995. After retiring he drove in Atlanta as an Uber driver.

He loved traveling internationally, country line dancing, watching the Atlanta Braves, and playing poker.

Survivors are his wife, Maricel of the Philippines; children, Matt, Amanda, and Luke; siblings, Dianna Brake Stolzenburg, Bob Muller, Melinda Muller Wolfe, and Evan Muller.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 10, 2024, at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the M.H.S. Alumni Scholarship Fund and left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.

Larry was born November 3, 1949, in Salina to Dennis L. and Jeanette Irene (Mason) Brake.He was a 1967 graduate of Minneapolis High School and then attended Hutchinson Juco and Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After working in Kansas and Wisconsin, Larry moved to Atlanta in 1972 and returned to Minneapolis earlier this year. While in Atlanta he worked for Trane for nine years before opening his own business, Brake and Hayden, from 1981 to 1995. After retiring he drove in Atlanta as an Uber driver.He loved traveling internationally, country line dancing, watching the Atlanta Braves, and playing poker.He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors are his wife, Maricel of the Philippines; children, Matt, Amanda, and Luke; siblings, Dianna Brake Stolzenburg, Bob Muller, Melinda Muller Wolfe, and Evan Muller.Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 10, 2024, at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. On Wednesday afternoon, May 29, a 66-year-old Salina woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of K-140 and I-135 in Saline County.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said the accident happened at approximately 4:32 p.m. yesterday.

"There was a vehicle that exited the northbound off-ramp and stopped at the stop sign," said Soldan. "When they pulled away from the sign, they didn't see a vehicle that was coming from the west heading east."

Kim Fowler, 66, of Salina, was driving the black Chevy Equinox east on K-140 when she struck a yellow Chevy Monte Carlo occupied by Heath Carlson, 47, and Trena Carlson, 45, both of Salina.

Soldan said Heath Carlson and Trine Carlson did not have injuries as a result of the crash, but Fowler was transported to Salina Regional Health Center by EMS for neck and shoulder pain.

Salina woman injured after two-vehicle accident on K-140

Steven Wayne Moore December 3, 1963 ~May 22, 2024

Steven Wayne Moore, born on December 3rd, 1963 in Temple, TX to Bobbie (Holloway) Brenton and Delton ‘John’ Moore, passed away May 22nd, 2024, doing something he loved, riding his Harley.

Steve was raised in Woodbine, KS by his grandparents, Robert and Anna Holloway, where he attended local schools.

Steve met Juanita ‘JJ’ Johnson and together they welcomed the light in his eyes, his girls, Amanda and Tabitha. The two married in 1983, later divorcing.

In 1991, Steve married his second wife, Gerri McKenney. With this union he welcomed two bonus children, Darcy and Jeremy. The couple moved to Onida, SD in 1993.

While living in Onida, Steve worked for local farmers, Morris Construction in Pierre, and Danbred Hog farm west of Onida. He was introduced to the local Masonic Lodge by his father in law, Marlin McKenney, and became a lifelong Freemason. Steve and Gerri raised their 4 children in Onida, divorcing in 2005.

Steve remained in Onida until 2013, he then moved to Salina, KS, to be closer to his Girls and Grandkids. He was working at Ovation Cabinetry in Salina at the time of his passing.

Steve is survived by his daughters, Amanda Moore and Tabitha (Jake) Area, 3 grandsons, Kaden Pazour, Alec Area, and Ryker Moore, 1 granddaughter, Racelee Meeks, bonus daughter, Darcy and family, bonus son Jeremy and his son Harvey, sisters, Melinda Moore, Lisa Moore, Cyndi House, Linda Lewey, Brenda Ellenbecker, brother John Michael Moore, uncles Charlie (Susan) Holloway, Noel Moore, aunts Nora Nito, Brenda Moore, nieces and nephews Cassandra Moore, Shelby Ramos, Sierra Ebert, Charlie Moore, Casey Schiedt, Brandi Ellenbecker, KJ Sutton, Andy Sutton, Lisa Swin, Tony Walker, Johnny Walker, LW House, Kimberly House, mother in law Nancy McKenney, several great nieces and nephews, and lots of extended family and friends. He is also survived by his sidekick, dog Pita.

Steve is proceeded in death by both of his parents, grandparents Robert and Anna Holloway, Mary Sellers and Virgil Moore, uncles Robert ‘Tex’ Holloway, Wesley Moore, Weldon Moore, Virgil ‘JR’ Moore, Thurman Moore, aunts Mary Moore, Beatrice Moore, father in law Marlin McKenney and granddaughter, Meka.

The family has chosen cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at Browns Memorial Park in Abilene, KS on Saturday, June 8th, at 11 a.m.

Bonnie Schmidt April 12, 1941 ~ May 27, 2024

Bonnie’s life began on April 12, 1941, in Marion, Kansas. She is the daughter of Ronald and Irene (Herbel) Lucas. Bonnie graduated from Marion High School with the Class of 1959. She then went on to work for Gound Ford Dealership as their bookkeeper. Bonnie married Robert Schmidt at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion. They were married for 62 years. Once Bonnie’s kids were born, she sold Avon Cosmentics and was a Homemaker for her family. Later she took a position as bookkeeper for Marion County Road and Bridge.

When Bonnie wasn’t hard at work or raising her family, she could be found enjoying her crossword puzzles and watching The Price Is Right. Bonnie was also a very active member in Our Savior Lutheran Church and would assist with their Missions Group. She would also get together with her graduating classmates monthly for their potlucks and conversations.

Most of all, Bonnie loved her family, which includes her husband, Robert of the home; sons; Rodney Schmidt of Marion, Troy (Eileen) Schmidt of Marion; and Kevin (Sherri) of Clinton, Missouri; grandchildren; Noah Schmidt, Ruby Schmidt, Nikita (Charlie) Branscombe, Telisha (Josh) Brandt, Trista (Tyler Bone) Humphrey; great grandchildren; Jade Branscombe, Nick Branscombe, Suryna Jones, Sophia Brandt; sister Darlene (Richard) Siebert of Wichita, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Keith Alan Vahsholtz September 20, 1960 ~ May 27, 2024

Keith’s life began on September 20, 1960, in Herington. He was the son of Herbert K. and Erline Eva (Albrecht) Vahsholtz. Keith was a 1978 graduate of Chapman High School. He also attended Beloit Vo-tech for diesel mechanic training. Keith was a farmer and mechanic. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Shady Brook) where he was a lifelong member.&nbsp;

Keith was married to Joni Kline Adkins on April 23, 1994, at Immanuel Lutheran and they divorced. Joni passed away in 2016. Keith enjoyed being a farmer, “wrenching” on his equipment and his grandchildren.&nbsp;

He is survived by his children John F. (Ashley) Vahsholtz of Chapman, and Jessica (Chris) Glendenning of Abilene; grandchildren Trenton and Nolan Haslouer and Cooper and Madisyn Vahsholtz; sibling Russell (Julie) Vahsholtz, Nancy (Kent) Rawson, Vonley Vahsholtz, and Kelli Vahsholtz-Olson; aunts Carol Florea and Pearl Vahsholtz and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.&nbsp;

Keith passed away Monday May 27, 2024, at Salina Regional Health Center. He is preceded in death by his parents. Russell Lee Cochran December 18, 1952 ~ May 26, 2024

Russell Lee Cochran, Solomon, KS, was called home to Jesus, on Sunday, May 26th, 2024. He was born in Lovington, New Mexico on December 18th, 1952 to Alexander Franklin Cochran and Maggie Howell.

His life changed in 1977 when he met Kathy who he married in 1978. They made their home in Odessa, TX for the first 6 months. Then they moved to Durham, OK. They went into the dairy business with Kathy’s family. He was not a dairy man, but he loved the farm and all of the cattle.

One of Russell’s biggest joys was the few cattle that he had. He could tell you who the dam was for every cow back to the great-grandmother. Most of his cows are black, but he could tell each of them apart.

Upon graduating from Odessa High School, Russell began his career of working with anything from truck parts to agriculture parts. In 1989, he moved to Solomon, KS to work for Abilene Machine. He finished his career working with Abilene Machine after many years. He could always remember customer phone numbers and tractor part numbers. He made many friends though the years.

Russell’s church and church family were extremely important. He was a member and deacon of the First Southern Baptist Church in Abilene for many years. He was active in the church and during gatherings you would see him walking around serving tea and coffee. His Men’s Bible Study group built lasting brotherhood relations. He was an ardent prayer warrior and he loved to tell people about Jesus.

Russell’s family filled his heart with joy and thankfulness. His boys, Bryan and Bryce; daughter in law’s, Jessica and Jasmine; grandsons, Bryar and Jace; and granddaughter, Millie, were his pride and joy.

Russell was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Alec Cochran and Hilton Cochran, and sister, Jane Hindman.

Services for Russell will be 1:00 pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Abilene with Pastor Dave Parker officiating. His final resting place will be in Oklahoma at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Most of his cows are black, but he could tell each of them apart.Upon graduating from Odessa High School, Russell began his career of working with anything from truck parts to agriculture parts. In 1989, he moved to Solomon, KS to work for Abilene Machine. He finished his career working with Abilene Machine after many years. He could always remember customer phone numbers and tractor part numbers. He made many friends though the years.Russell’s church and church family were extremely important. He was a member and deacon of the First Southern Baptist Church in Abilene for many years. He was active in the church and during gatherings you would see him walking around serving tea and coffee. His Men’s Bible Study group built lasting brotherhood relations. He was an ardent prayer warrior and he loved to tell people about Jesus.Russell’s family filled his heart with joy and thankfulness. His boys, Bryan and Bryce; daughter in law’s, Jessica and Jasmine; grandsons, Bryar and Jace; and granddaughter, Millie, were his pride and joy.Russell was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Alec Cochran and Hilton Cochran, and sister, Jane Hindman.Services for Russell will be 1:00 pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Abilene with Pastor Dave Parker officiating. Betty Lee Little, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born to Clarence and Sylva Rosebrook on their farmstead in rural Lincoln County during a winter storm on November 26, 1940. She was the second of three sisters, her best friends, Mary Ann and Peggy.

Betty was born a farmgirl. She eventually fell in love with her own farmer and polka dancing partner, Don Little, whom she wed on June 12, 1960. They had one daughter, Karla. Betty, Don, and Karla were a unit. Whether pulling calves in the middle of the night, driving to track meets and softball games, setting up electric fence to protect Betty’s garden from coons, or on their monthly trip to Panjo’s pizza and movie at the Stiefel, they were always together.

Anyone with the honor of meeting Betty knows she was fiercely loyal and immensely proud of her family and friends. She loved deeply. She was the ultimate caretaker. This naturally translated to her being the best “Mamaw” and “Grammy” to her two grandchildren, Matt and Mariah, and “Great Gaga” to her three great-grandchildren, Demi, Lawson, and Carter.

As an individual, Betty had her own breadth of skills and hobbies. If she wasn’t making one of her famous cherry pies, you could find her taking care of her flowers, loving on her dog, Jazz, working on a puzzle, or decorating her home with pictures of her family.

Most importantly, Betty was a servant of the Lord. She greatly enjoyed her Bible studies and sharing that time with her group of friends. One of her most cherished possessions was her Bible, the pages full of handwritten notes in the margins and scraps from Bible lessons. One of her saved lessons had highlighted: “My funeral shall not be about me! Focus all attention upon the Christ who loves me and gave His life up for me! In Him I have died, which means I did not die!”

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by: her husband, Don; daughter, Karla (Randy) Jones; grandchildren, Matt (Alisha) Jones, Mariah (Garrett) Greif; great-grandchildren, Carter Jones, Demi Greif, and Lawson Greif; sisters, Mary Ann (Harold) Morton, Peggy Krehbiel; many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Salina, KS.

Project Salina provides specific instructions for food pick up

Two local community banks, Bennington State Bank and First Bank Kansas came together to finance the first phase of Salina Destination, a new multi-family housing development in Salina, Kansas. 

This collaborative effort is being led by Bennington State Bank as the lead financer, with First Bank Kansas as a participating financial supporter of the project.

According to the leadership of both financial institutions, the involvement of these two community banks underscores their shared commitment to foster community growth by providing much-needed housing options for residents.

The new housing project, named Magnolia Village, will be located near the intersection of Magnolia Road and Interstate 135.

The City of Salina was awarded $25,000,000 through Kansas HB 2510 &amp; Kansas SB 267 by the Department of Commerce to help accommodate housing expansion. The Magnolia Village project will receive a portion of these funds.&nbsp;

The first phase of the development includes 254 apartments featuring spacious floor plans, in-house laundry and various outdoor amenities. The project responds to the projected influx of new employees in Salina, driven by the community’s robust economic development. 

“This is the culmination of a lot of work by a lot of people over a lot of years," said Salina City Manager Mike Schrage. 

Schrage emphasized that many background economic successes, months of preparation, and multiple instrumental people have contributed to this point of the project.

Salina Destination Development, the organization behind Magnolia Village, aims to create a residential complex that not only meets the community's immediate needs but also enhances the overall quality of life for its residents.

“Working with Bennington State Bank and First Bank Kansas has been seamless. Their knowledge of the process and ability to get things done efficiently has been invaluable,” said Jeremy Hurt, lead contact for Salina Destination Development.

E. Dean Williams was born March 3, 1928, in Glasco, Ks. and died February 13, 2024, at the age of 95. He was the youngest of 6 children born to Jesse and Emma Olson Williams and graduated from Glasco High in 1946. He then served for 2 years in the U.S. Navy Air Corps before returning to Glasco upon his honorable discharge. Dean then went to work at the Co-Op service station for a year and then the Natural Gas Pipeline Station in Glasco. In May 1951 Dean was united in marriage to Joyce Henning, a marriage that lasted 63 years until her passing in 2014. In December 1953, Dean and Joyce moved to Hammond, IL. as the Company transferred him to a new pipeline station there. While living there, their two children were born, Jody in December 1953 and Randy in October 1955. Dean and Joyce missed Cloud County, so they moved to Concordia in May 1956 and Dean accepted a job with the Co-Op. He accepted a position with the Fidelity State Bank in 1958 and continued working in the banking industry until his retirement in 1993. During his 35 years in the banking business, he was a strong supporter of the community, having served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, the Cloud-Republic Bankers Association, and the Bankers of America Institute in Salina. Dean was also one of the Founders of the Cloud County Community College and served on the Board of Trustees for 4 years, being the Chair the final year. He was also a long-time member of the NCK Saddle Club and helped with the construction of the new rodeo arena. Hobbies included hunting, horseback riding, and fishing. He also loved to play pool and pitch. Dean was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather and was never happier than spending time with his family, especially with the grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce, brothers Lyle, Lewie, and Jack and sisters Melva Letourneau and Eva Crum. He is survived by children Jody (Alex) Sanchez of Salina and Randy (Deb) Williams of Valley Center, Ks., 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren,3 great great grandchildren, and special friend, Beulah Nobert.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Jim Winter will be held June 7th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Concordia Lutheran Church with visitation with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The service will be followed by a luncheon at the church and inurnment at the Glasco Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Dewey G. Nelson June 10, 1949 ~&nbsp;May 24, 2024

Dewey G. Nelson, 74, Concordia, Kansas, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Advena Living of Clay Center. He was born on June 10, 1949 to Durrel and Velma (French) Nelson in Belleville, Kansas.

He attended Concordia Schools and graduated in 1968. He went on to work for ABB and Cloud Ceramics.

Dewey married Kathy Bible in 1970 in Golden, Colorado.

Dewey could do just about anything he was asked. Kathy might ask him to build or fix something and he would disappear to his shop and reappear with something that would work perfectly. He loved working on cars and boats.

His beloved Lhasa Apso, Charlie Brown passed away in 2023 but before that they could be seen on drives around town or at their daily trip to the dog park.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Durrel and Velma Nelson.

A memorial service will be held at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home on Monday, June 3rd , 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor David Redmond officiating. Family will greet friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, rural Concordia. He went on to work for ABB and Cloud Ceramics.Dewey married Kathy Bible in 1970 in Golden, Colorado.Dewey could do just about anything he was asked. Kathy might ask him to build or fix something and he would disappear to his shop and reappear with something that would work perfectly. Lee White was born September 19, 1940 in Richmond, Missouri, the son of Wilbert and Almira (Hillyard) White. Lee passed away at his home in rural Chapman, Kansas Friday May 24, 2024.

Lee worked for many years in the Wichita area as a security guard. Lee is survived by his long time partner Dawn Valera, his daughter Dana White (Cathrine) Derby, Kansas and his son Darryl White (Paula) of rural Chapman, Kansas Lee was preceded in death by his parents.

The family has chosen cremation and there will be no funeral services. A graveside service will be held at the Liberty Cemetery rural Chapman on June 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

According to Saline County Treasurer Jim DuBois, the internet has been restored to the Salina City/Saline County Building.&nbsp; At 9:46 a.m. NexTech announced via social media that the emergency maintenance is complete, and customers should see their service come back online.&nbsp; NexTech Customer Solutions Specialist, John Hendrick said customers may need to reboot their router by disconnecting it from power for about 60 seconds.&nbsp; If customers continue to have connection issues, please contact the NexTech Help Desk at 688-565-3200.

Last night, NexTech encountered an internal issue with its internet infrastructure.&nbsp;

John Hendrick, customer solutions specialist at NexTech said the issue is affecting approximately 1,000 customers.&nbsp;

"We are aware that during maintenance last night that there was some internal issues that happened," Hendrick said. "All of us are working diligently to get the problem resolved in a quick and expedient manner."

Hendrick said the customers impacted by the Internet issue are across NexTech's geographic footprint.&nbsp;

Saline County residents told Salina Post they were experiencing exceptionally long lines at the&nbsp;Saline County Vehicle Registration office. Saline County Treasurer Jim DuBois confirmed the internet is down.&nbsp;

"We're just flat down. I came in at 7 a.m. this morning and couldn't log on," DuBois said. "I talked to IT, and they just said they're working on it."

Marvin G. Heffel, of Dorrance, KS, passed away on April 28, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita,&nbsp;KS, at the age of 78. He was born on January 17, 1946, to Arthur and Helen (Lind) Heffel in Ellsworth, KS.&nbsp;Marvin married Sylvia Baral on August 27, 1974, in Wichita, KS. They were blessed with three children:&nbsp;Stacy, Stephanie, and Travis.

Marvin grew up in Dorrance and graduated from Dorrance High School in 1964. He went on to Fort Hays&nbsp;University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He started out working as a driver and&nbsp;manager for Bankers Dispatch and other divisions. He then owned and operated Overnight Express&nbsp;Courier Services in Los Angeles, CA for 10 years. In 1992 he sold the company and moved back to Russell&nbsp;and worked for 4-Way Trucking out of Hays for 6 years and was currently working with Quest-Diagnostics.

Marvin was a KU, Chiefs, and Royals fan. He enjoyed Sunday family dinners, drives with his wife,&nbsp;listening to music as well as playing Rock-N-Roll songs on the piano for his family,especially his&nbsp;grandkids. Marvin loved birdwatching; he knew all the species. He served his&nbsp;country in the United&nbsp;States Army during the Vietnam War. He also was the Commander and Vice Commander in the&nbsp;Dorrance American Legion Post #334 and a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dorrance.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Sylvia Heffel of the home in Dorrance; children, Stacy and John Bonds of&nbsp;Broomfield, CO, Stephanie and David Cardinal of Salina, KS, and Travis and Kristy Heffel of Wilson, KS;&nbsp;sister, Karen Kircher (Ken) of Indianola, NE; brother, Larry Heffel (Marilyn) of Lenexa, KS; 8&nbsp;grandchildren, Taylor, Tehya, Takotah, Ivorie, Solei, and Raydio Bonds, Lydia and Brekyn Heffel; step-grandson, David Cardinal Jr.; 2 great-grandchildren, Aubree&nbsp;and Kinzlee Bonds and soon to be Jett&nbsp;Bonds; and 2 step-great-grandchildren, David III and Damir Cardinal.

Preceding Marvin in death are his parents, Art and Helen; brother, Arlan “Dots” Heffel; and step-granddaughter, Sydnee Cardinal.

A Celebration of Life Service will be&nbsp;held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:30AM at the First Lutheran Church in Dorrance, KS.
