KWU WSOC blanks Southwestern 2-0 to end regular season

WINFIELD - Both Kansas Wesleyan and Southwestern faced Mother Nature on Saturday at Jantz Stadium. Thankfully, the teams won that contest. And then the Coyotes won the match.KWU scored two goals in the weather-delayed first half and controlled the match on the way to a 2-0 win over the Moundbuilders.

Emma Gervy scored the first goal for the Coyotes just three minutes in, and then after a lengthy weather delay in the 29th minute, the teams resumed play and right out of the gates the Coyotes were in goal again as Leslie Serrato scored it to make it 2-0.

After outshooting Southwestern 10-1 in the first half, KWU again peppered the goal with 11 more second half tries, while Southwestern had five. The Coyotes put 15 shots on frame.

Isabella Galvan recorded another clean sheet with five saves.

The Coyotes are the No. 2 seed in the KCAC Women's Soccer Championships which begin on Tuesday with quarterfinal match-ups. KWU will face No. 7 seed York at 6 p.m. at JRI Stadium.

The winner advances to the KCAC semifinals at Stryker Complex in Wichita next Friday.
