Thieves steal multiple items from Salina residence

More than $3,100 worth of items were stolen from a Salina residence earlier this week.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning that officers were sent to the 100 block of North Broadway Boulevard for the report of a burglary. According to Forrester, a witness saw two subjects with flashlights in the yard of the residence at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. They appeared to be jump starting a car, he added.

On Thursday, the witness realized that a piece of plywood had been removed from the door of a shed on the property, Forrester noted. The victim, Larry Mattison, 71, of Salina, went to the property and discovered that a 1983 Honda 50 cc motorcycle, valued at $1,000, with KS 32CUP tag, was missing, Forrester explained.

Additionally, Anaili Fleites, 21, of Salina, who rents the residence, reported that her 2009 Nissan Versa had been broken into and a JBL stereo, JBL amplifier, JBL subwoofer, with a total value of $2,100, were missing. Additionally, a Goodyear tire and Cosco child seat, with a total value of $90, also were stolen, he noted.
