The Salina Central Mustangs (6-2), will open postseason play at home this Friday when they play host to the Great Bend Panthers (5-3).
This will be a rematch of last year's round of 16 battle that saw Central emerge victorious 40-35.
“It’s that time of year when you either play well or you go home," Mustang head coach Mark Sandbo said. "We embrace that pressure; good teams and good programs play good football in these types of opportunities. Our seniors are excited about the opportunity to play in our stadium at least one more time. We will have to play clean football this Friday against a very good Great Bend team.”
The winner of this matchup will advance to the round of 16 in this year's 5A playoff to take on either 7-1 Kapaun Mt. Carmel or 0-8 Salina South.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 at Salina Stadium.
