In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Salina Symphony has announced the delay of the coming season to 2021.
“Many factors led to this decision, including concern for the health and safety of musicians and patrons as well as the challenges presented by socially distanced seating requirements,” said Adrienne Allen, executive director.
The current plan for the coming season is to
hold four subscription concerts in the spring/summer of 2021. A decision will be made about the Youth Education Program in the
coming weeks.
“Although we’re disappointed the season had to be delayed, we’re doing all we can to ensure that the symphony is equipped to return strong,” said Allen. “Despite this temporary disruption, our musicians and patrons have much to look forward to in the relatively near future. Our music director search is well underway, and we will be entering an exciting new era in the fall of 2021 when we begin to bring candidates in to conduct.”
Virtual Chamber Concert Series
Until the symphony can safely return to concerts at the Stiefel, they plan to seek out creative ways to fulfill the mission and provide opportunities for musicians to perform.
“I’m delighted to announce that we will be presenting a Virtual Chamber Concert Series, titled ‘Listen Together,’ beginning in October,” Allen said.
The monthly series will feature a variety of ensembles composed of Salina Symphony musicians.
