Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced that the Kansas Department of Insurance recovered $207,851.35 for Saline County residents in 2024. Statewide, more than $11.8 million was recovered for policyholders last year.

Since Commissioner Schmidt took office in 2019, the department’s Consumer Assistance Division has recovered over $47.7 million for Kansans.

“Consumer assistance is one of my top priorities, and I am proud that we have been able to help so many Kansans,” Schmidt said. “If you have an issue with insurance, I want to hear from you!”

Funds are considered “recovered” when department staff assist individuals during the insurance claims process. In cases where disputes arise between policyholders and insurance companies, the department investigates the complaints. Staff work with consumers and insurers to ensure policies are followed and benefits are paid accordingly.

A county-by-county breakdown of the recoveries is available in the 2024 Annual Report Recoveries.
