A Salina man is out more than $6,000 after someone damaged three vehicles and stole a number of items from a west Salina storage facility.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning that sometime between 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, someone broke into a storge bay in the 600 block of South Broadway Boulevard by taking apart the metal siding on the building. According to Forrester, the storage bay was rented by Jay Mott, 47, of Salina.
Once inside, the thieves damage three vehicles by breaking windows out to gain access to the following vehicles, a 2002 Chevy Express, 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK430, and a 1998 Cadillac DeVille, Forrester explained. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at $400, he added.
According to Forrester, the suspects then took, numerous items from the vehicles, including a Harley Davidson leather jacket, Harley Davidson leather gloves, a Snap-on tool set, an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, and several cell phones. Total theft was estimated at $6,000, he reported.
