Pay, remodeling, new jail on Saline County Commission agenda

Sheriff's office pay plan, remodeling, and the jail project update are among the items on the Saline County Commission agenda for Tuesday.

Agenda items

Commissioners are considering approving the 2021-2023 Sheriff's Office Bargaining Unit Work Agreement which includes the following.

●Implement the Wichita State University salary study with placement at the recommended new grade and the first step that provides at least a five percent increase in salary, except that no member of the bargaining unit with at one year of experience in their current position shall be placed below Step 2 in the new grade, effective Dec. 26, 2022.

●Apply a 2.5 percent increase to the 2022 pay plan effective Dec. 26, 2022.

Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to consider approving the 2023 Saline County Association of Public Employees Work Agreement which includes the following.

●Implement the Wichita State University salary study with placement at the recommended new grade and the first step that provides at least a five percent increase in salary effective Dec. 26, 2022.

●Apply a 2.5 percent increase to the 2022 pay plan effective Dec. 26, 2022.

●With the exception of salaries, extend the terms and conditions of the 2020-2022 work agreement for one year to expire Dec. 31, 2023.

Other items on the Saline County Commission agenda for Tuesday include the following.

●Consider proclaiming October 2022 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

●Consider awarding a contract for remodeling at the former juvenile detention facility to Harbin Construction in the amount of $225,900, including a $16,000 project contingency and $21,800 in design fees.

●Consider issuing a request for qualifications for construction manager at risk for the creation of two new courtrooms.

●Consider proceeding with the annex building at the new Saline County Jail site.

●Hear the quarterly update from emergency management.

●Hear a jail project update.

●Hear County Administrator Phillip Smith-Hanes' update.
