Doyle E. “Doddy” Manspeaker, 80, of Ottawa, KS passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Advent Health in Ottawa, KS. He was born November 24, 1943 in Garnett, KS the son of James and Fern (Kibby) Manspeaker. He graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1961.
He was united in marriage to Betty Schultz on August 31, 1968 at the First Baptist Church in Olathe, KS. They shared over fifty-five years of marriage.
Doddy worked for Smith & Loveless Inc. in Olathe, KS before moving to Ottawa, KS in 1974. He was Owner & Operator of Poor Man’s Antiques located at 113th S. Main Street & the 400 Block of S. Main Street in Ottawa, KS for over forty years.
He attended the Bible Baptist Church in Ottawa, KS. Doddy will be remembered for his antique picking skills; having auctions; a love for food and spending time with his family and his dogs, Burkett, Jack and Wilbur. He especially loved visiting with people and would give the shirt off his back if needed.
Mr. Manspeaker was preceded in death by his parents, James & Fern Manspeaker.
Surviving family includes his beloved wife, Betty of the home; a son, Jeff Manspeaker of Garnett, KS; a daughter, Lavonna Stewart and former son-in-law, Arlie L. Stewart both of Ottawa, KS; four grandchildren, Blaine Stewart and his wife Sarah, Kaylind Zimmerman and her husband Andy, Arlie B. Stewart and Nicole Manspeaker; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Laikyn Zimmerman, Weston Stewart and Nicole Manspeaker’s son.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
