July 1, 1958 - June 5, 2021
Deborah Lynn Richter, affectionally called “Debbie”, 62, went to be with our Lord on June 5, 2021, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg. Debbie had been battling ALS since January 2019.
Debbie was born July 1, 1958, in Salina to Earl D. and Marylou Richter. She was a 1976 graduate of Salina South High School and 1992 graduate of Brown Mackie College with an Associate of Applied Science-Paralegal degree.
She worked for the Kansas Dept. of Revenue in Topeka as a Driver's License Examiner for 25 years. Prior to that she was employed at Tony's Pizza Service in Salina for 13 years.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father Earl D. Richter, brother David A. Richter, Mother Marylou Richter and two stepmothers, Dorothy I. Richter, and JoAnn Richter Hans.
She is survived by her blended family from Earl and Dorothy's marriage when she was 12 years old.
Stepsister Terri Lovett (George), Stepbrothers Richard Cline (Cindy) and Steve Cline. She also leaves many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Debbie is also survived by her best friend, Jerri (Bernhardt) Parnell, with whom she had a 40-year friendship, and her husband Dale, of Topeka.
Debbie had a special bond and friendship with Marilyn Kidd, also of Topeka. They were avid “walking buddies, known to have walked many a mile together throughout the city of Topeka.
Finally, there are two more special hearts that are surviving Debbie that must be mentioned. Those who knew Debbie, also knew that “she was not animal friendly.” That all changed when Debbie had moved into her sister Terri’s home, with whom Terri had two dogs, “Hope” and “Angel.” Little did Debbie realize the love and joy that these two dogs would bring her. She not only fell in love with but realized…that they loved her! What they all three brought to each other’s hearts and souls will long be remembered by those who witnessed the bond that developed.
Cremation was chosen and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. No funeral or graveside services will take place at Debbie's request. She wants only a small private family gathering to share memories of growing up together and life's happier times.
Any donations in her memory may be made to the ALS Association Mid-America Chapter at this address: ALSA 3450 N. Rock Road Suite 211 Wichita, KS 67226
