Over the weekend the 2024 Paris Olympics officially came to a close, and the United States emerged victorious tying China with 40 Gold medals and leading the overall medal count by a whopping 35, finishing with 126 medals in all.
This marks four straight summer Olympic victories for the USA, and seven of the last eight dating back to 1996; only China in 2008 was able to steal a summer Olympic victory from the US
All-time the United States have now won 19 summer Olympics with the rest of the world tallying just 9

Speaking of the Olympics Former Kansas Track and Field star Bryce Hoppel broke the American record in the men's 800m after running a 1:41.67 in the Paris. He finished in fourth place overall.
Hoppel, who achieved a new personal best in the final, ran 1:45.24 in the opening round, moving onto the semis with ease. In the Olympic semifinals, he shaved off some time to finish second overall in the field with a 1:43.41.

And finally over the weekend the Kansas City Royals split their I-70 series with the Cardinals as Bobby Witt Jr. drove in three runs and Michael Wacha struck out six in seven innings to lead the Kansas City Royals to an 8-3 win on Saturday night.
The victory clinched the season series for Kansas City for the first time since 2016. The Royals will have an opportunity to climb the AL Central ladder this week as they prepare for a 3-game set against the Twins in Minnesota
