About to be new to Medicare? Caring for elderly parents? K-State Research and Extension has a workshop for you!

The Medicare Basics: New to Medicare workshop will be offered in the following two formats.

ā—Online via Zoom at noon on April 11

ā—In person at 6 p.m. on April 12 in the Prescott Room of the Salina Public Library, 301 W. Elm Street

The workshop will be presented by extension educator Deb Wood, CFPĀ®, Central Kansas Extension District, and local SHICK counselor.

Anyone interested in learning more about the Medicare maze would benefit from the program, particularly those who are nearing age 65 or who help aging parents with insurance and financial matters, Wood noted in a news release.

Participants will learn the basics of Medicare, including eligibility, how and when to apply, costs, what is covered by the various parts, and how to fill the gaps, Wood noted. Additionally, programs available to assist low-income individuals also will be discussed.
