Obituary for Carol Sue Hancock | Ryan Mortuary

November 1, 1953 ~ August 25, 2022 (age 68)

Carol Sue Hancock, 68, of Salina, on August 25, 2022, she flew home with her angels to eternal peace. She was born November 1, 1953, in Fairbury Nebraska.

A member of the Iowa Indian tribe, she spent most of her childhood in Kansas growing up with her five brothers and sister. While Colorado had been home to her for several years, she moved back to Kansas in 2013.

Sue spent her life dedicated to her family and caring for those with special needs and developmental disabilities. To know Sue was to witness a rare strength, a huge heart and all the Sass to match. Her work was a true gift as her patience, kindness and ability to show tough love with a warm heart empowered so many to find independence and love for life that they may never have experienced otherwise.

She always made her home feel like yours and often times would find her in the kitchen baking or cooking. No one ever left hungry from Sue's. Christmas time was her favorite so regardless of who you were, if you were around, she made sure there was a gift with your name on it.

Her granddaughters Rhashan and Keira and her Jack Russell Patches were her most favorite people in the world. Crafts, crochet, sewing and making her own greeting cards were amongst the many things she loved to do. Sue always had some sort of project going or something she was doing for others. She truly lived her life to serve and give to those she loved and to those who were in need.

While the last several years of her life she was ill, rarely did she complain and always kept an amazing spirit and attitude. To witness and be a part of her life throughout was both humbling and an honor. We are so grateful that she is finally at peace, but our lives will never be the same without her.

She is survived by her son Darnell Hancock, daughter Aimee Morfitt, granddaughters Keira and Rhashan Hancock, brothers Ronnie, Butch and Richard Roberts, her very best friend Bruce Carr and countless friends and extended family who loved and admired her.

She is preceded in death by her sister Patricia Allen, whom she hoped was the first she was able to see after crossing over.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of funeral services and to honor Sue's wishes, there will be a pizza party and celebration of Her life at a later date.

A very special thank you to all our accessible home health nurses who have over the years dedicated so much love and care to my mother. It was a true honor to witness the very special relationships she had with every one of you. Often your visits were the best part of her day. I can't put into words just how much your presence was a gift to us. I'm so proud that others were able to know and admire the beautiful person my mother was. Because of you I came to learn things about my mom I may have otherwise never known. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU and I will be forever grateful to you all - Aimee Morfitt
