HARVEY COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 6p.m. Monday in Harvey County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Gerado Mendoza, 49, Marion, was eastbound on U.S. 50 near East Lake Road. The pickup when crossed the centerline and collided head-on with westbound 2024 Peterbilt semi.
Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Forensic Science Center. The semi driver Charles Murphy, 59, Rochester, Minnesota was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.

HARVEY COUNTY —First responders are on the scene of a fatality accident on U.S. Highway 50 between North East Lake Road and North Grace Hill Road east of Walton, according to a social media report from the Harvey County Sheriff's office.
The accident involved a semi truck and pickup. The driver of the pickup was killed in the crash. The semi driver was not injured.
U.S. 50 was temporarily closed in the area for an undetermined amount of time while emergency personnel investigate the crash and clear the scene.
The name of the individual who died in the accident is being withheld until the victim's next of kin has been notified.
