The Southeast of Saline basketball teams will each be in search of bounce-back wins after falling to Beloit on Tuesday, and will have an excellent opportunity to do just that against a pair of struggling Republic County squads.
Girls Game: SE of Saline (10-5, 4-2) vs. Republic Co (0-15, 0-5)
The Lady Trojans will square off with a Lady Buffalo team still in search of their first win of the season in a weather-rescheduled Thursday tilt.
Despite Republic County’s season-long struggles, Southeast is not overlooking the Buffs and will be ready for a battle on Thursday night.
“They’re going to be a tough winless team,” SES head coach Shauna Smith said. “Their record might indicate that they’re not going to be a challenge but they have some kids who can score and we can’t look past them. Our league is pretty darn good, we have to be ready every single night.”
Tip-off for the first game of this two-game set is scheduled for 6:00 at Southeast of Saline High School.
Boys Game: SE of Saline (7-8, 1-5) vs. Republic Co (1-14, 0-5)
Things haven’t gone much better for Republic County on the boy’s side, as the Buffaloes come into this contest looking for their first win since December 2nd.
With that in mind, the Trojans will keep most of their focus within for this matchup, as they look for even more improvement on the offensive end.
“I thought we took good shots against Beloit but at the end of the day you have to make your buckets, I’m hoping we’ll be able to move the ball around well enough to get good shots, see some go down, and build some momentum off of that.”
The boy’s game will follow the girls’ at approximately 7:30 PM.
