The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated a new community in the southeast corner of Salina this week, with Cedarhurst Senior Living representatives clipping the red ribbon on Thursday afternoon.

A few Cedarhurst ambassadors helped clip the ribbon, joining the celebration surrounded by the Blue Coats of the Chamber.

Cedarhurst Senior Living Community Executive Director Melissa Holcom shared the golden scissors with Community Ambassador Eunice Ummel for the grand opening of the senior living space.

"It's been a lot of work, and it means a lot," Holcom said. "The residents are amazing, the families are amazing, we have great staff, I just enjoy it — it's like coming home."

Holcom said the community includes 54 assisted living apartments and 22 more specializing in memory care.
