
GEARY COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just after 6a.m. Tuesday in Geary County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Peterbilt truck driven by Tyler Aron Elsasser, 22, Bennington, was was eastbound on Interstate 70 at Junction City. The truck hydroplaned and the driver lost control. The truck traveled through the median and came to rest in the north ditch.
EMS transported Elsasser to the hospital in Junction City. He was properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.

Authorities have opened one lane in each direction on I-70 following a semi rollover accident near Junction City.

GEARY COUNTY —Authorities responded to a semi-truck rollover accident on I-70 on the south side of Junction City shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday.
East and westbound lanes are closed in both directions.
The semi was carrying some hazardous materials, according to Geary County Emergency Management Director Garry Berges.
" We did have a plume from one of the containers. We've got Manhattan Fire Hazmat enroute out here to help clear up the scene but this area is completely shut down so people will need to find alternate routes."
The driver of the semi was transported to Geary Community Hospital.
