The Kansas High School Athletics released several sub-state brackets yesterday, including the bracket for division 3A boys and girls.

With these brackets out, the first round matchups for Southeast of Saline are set, with the girls playing their first game on Monday March 1st and the boys playing their first on Tuesday March 2nd.

Both teams were able to earn a home playoff game for the first round, with the SES girls entering the tournament as a two-seed while the boys come in as the four.

The Lady Trojans will host 4-14 Kingman at 7pm on Monday. SES defeated the Lady Eagles 40-26 earlier this season in the Sterling Invitational.

Kingman struggled mightily throughout the season but will come into sub-state on their best stretch of the year, having won three of their last six games.

The winner between SES and Kingman will advance to play the winner of the 3-6 matchup featuring 13-6 Hesston and 4-14 Ellsworth.

The boys team will host 10-6 Ellsworth in their first round matchup, a team the Trojans beat 85-50 earlier this season.

The Bearcats remain a formidable opponent but have cooled off some since their hot 8-3 start.

The winner of this contest will move on to face the winner of the 1-8 matchup featuring 17-1 Hesston and 0-20 Halstead.

Both games can be heard on KINA (910 AM or 107.5 FM) and we will continue our coverage of all 18 area schools as sub-state kicks off next week right here on Salina Post.
