Virtual 9/11 commemoration ceremony at Fort Riley

FORT RILEY -- Personnel at Fort Riley are scheduled to conduct a 9/11 commemoration ceremony Friday. While the ceremony will not be open to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, interested persons can watch it live on the Fort Riley Facebook page.

The 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley will host the 9/11 commemoration ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday at the Global War on Terrorism monument near Cavalry Parade Field. The ceremony will be shared live on www.Facebook.com/FortRiley.

Brig. Gen. Thomas O'Connor, Deputy Commanding General for Support of the 1st Infantry Division, and Command Sgt. Major Timothy Speichert, U.S. Army Garrison Command Sgt. Major, will place a wreath at the base of the monument in honor of those who have died in the Global War on Terrorism.
