After returning from the war, Marvin met and married Norma Hartman on June 3, 1961. They raised 4 children together. Marvin worked for Reece Construction and he and his family moved all over Kansas. In 1980, they settled in Salina.

Marvin enjoyed his time the most when he was with family. So many good memories were made over the years with the Depperschmidts and Hartmans. The big family gatherings were always something he loved. Dad loved to play lots of pitch games. Somehow Dad always had low.

Our family time at the lake in the summer at the cabin was something we all looked forward every year. He made sure all of us learned to swim and water ski. He enjoyed having other family and friends join us at the lake.

Marvin loved to do woodworking projects over the years. He was talented and made many beautiful pieces for family and friends. He was a great mentor to his boys and grandsons in many aspects. He instilled a strong work ethic in all his family. Marvin enjoyed the yard and garden. He took great pride in his yard and always had it perfectly manicured. The garden onions were always a topic of conversation.

Marvin was a devote member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. In the early years, he was able to help with yard maintenance and also served on the Parish council. His faith was important to him and his family.
