On Nov. 17 Salina Police officers and Salina EMS responded to a two-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of Magnolia Road and Belmont Blvd.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. Billy Bauer, 40, of Salina struck a 2011 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with his 2009 Nissan Murano and trailer.
"He was stopped at the intersection with Magnolia and a fire truck is coming northbound towards him with lights and sirens on," Tonniges said. "So Billy decides he needs to clear the intersection so the fire truck can get through. Only problem was the light was red. "
Salina resident, 76-year-old Patricia Shubert, was struck by Bauer's Nissan. Following the collision the Nissan landed on its side and the Toyota sustained frontal damage.
Both Shubert and Bauer were transported to Salina Regional Health Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tonniges said Bauer was cited for running a red light.
