Melissa Elaine Nichols, of Solomon, Kansas, passed away November 20th, 2025 at the age of 66. Born in Manhattan, Kansas, on February 5th, 1959, to Dwayne and Karen Nichols, Melissa lived a life full of creativity, adventure, and love for the simple joys of the countryside.
Melissa was known for her incredible ability to transform ordinary furniture into stunning works of art—a true superpower that reflected her talent and vision. She loved nothing more than living out in the countryside, surrounded by peace and nature.
Her favorite hobbies included sewing, hiking, traveling, antique shopping, and tackling crossword puzzles. Melissa had a taste for adventure and flavor, especially when it came to spicy Korean food. She enjoyed music from Bob Seger and Loverboy, and her favorite TV shows were Yellowstone and American Idol. A pool shark at heart, Melissa was an amazing player who could dominate any table with skill and confidence.
Melissa cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her mother, Karen Nichols; her children, Jason and Andrew; and her beloved grandchildren, Ava, Brayleigh, and Loretta.
Her favorite toast summed up her spirit:“Here’s to a long life and a merry one. A quick death and an easy one. A pretty girl and an honest one. A cold beer and another one!”
Melissa will be remembered for her creativity, her love of family, and her ability to make life beautiful in every way.
