Nationals tickets punched, more personal bests and school records for KWU Men’s Track at Washburn

TOPEKA - Kansas Wesleyan Men's Indoor Track saw another NAIA National Championship ticket punched and several student-athletes hit personal bests and there was one new school record set at the Washburn Open.

The distance medley relay team of Ty Davidson, Wyatt Johnson, Triston Cottone and Julian Avila broke a 55-year-old school record running a time of 10:12.43, placing ninth and hitting the NAIA B Standard, to earn a bid to the NAIA National Championships.

Julian Avila placed 12th in the 800m, setting a new personal best and hitting the NAIA B Standard with a time of 1:53.75.

Austin Hess set a new personal best in the 3000m with a time of 8:50.20 finishing 39th in the field.

Damion Jackson ran a new personal best in the mile with a time of 4:18.64, placing 36th.

Keegan Lott placed 14th in the shot put with a mark of 15.07m and Keyon Baccus was 35th with a mark of 12.68m.

Keegan Lott was 23rd in the weight throw with a mark of 14.77m.

The 4x400m relay team of Wyatt Johnson, Kean Dinkel, Damion Jackson and Austin Schaeffer finished 26th with a time of 3:31.41.

Ty Davidson placed 33rd in the 800m with a time of 1:56.33.

Kamal Murphy was 39th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.26m.

Austin Schaeffer was 43rd in the mile with a time of 4:23.44.

Zamari Burrell ran a time of 7.14 seconds and Kean Dinkel ran a time of 7.26 seconds in the 60m preliminaries.

Tytus Reed placed 47th in the 5000m with a time of 16:08.95.

The Coyotes will run one more time before the KCAC Championships when they head to the Concordia Indoor Invitational next weekend in Seward, Neb.
