Keith Ray Farris, age 49, of Ottawa, KS, passed away November 7, 2023, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. 

Keith was born July 4, 1974, in Lawrence, KS, the son of Jerry and Ida Marie (Hird) Farris. Keith was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1993. He then graduated from Manhattan Area Technical College with a degree in Welding. 

Keith was a lifelong farmer and rancher. In addition to farming, Keith worked for two years for Carey Plumbing. He then worked ten years for Asplundh as a Tree Trimmer until he took on his current job at Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor, a position he held for twenty years. 

Keith was a kind and loving family-focused man. He always enjoyed time with his close friends but his family was his life and he was devoted to them. He loved traveling with his family, especially trips to Texas to visit relatives, but was particularly fond of the vacations to Disney World and Yellowstone National Park. He was a big sports fan as well, enjoying the Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and especially K-State football and basketball. 

On October 25, 2006, Keith was united in marriage to Sharon (High) Brown in Las Vegas, NV. 

Keith is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their son, Jared Farris, of the home; step-son, Michael Brown, his wife, Mallory; granddaughter, Olivia, and a grandson on the way, Wichita, KS; mother, Ida Marie Farris, Ottawa, KS; sister, Carolyn Dunn and her husband, Brian, and their sons Preston, Ian, and Garrett, St. John, KS; father-in-law, Garry High, Effingham, KS; mother-in-law, Alice Lanter and her husband, Ed, Atchison, KS; five sisters-in-law, Linda Baker, Effingham, KS, Connie Eckert and her husband, Doug, Atchison, KS, Karen Kearney and her husband, Mike, Cummings, KS, Lisa Coder and her husband, Duane, Effingham, KS, Amber Koontz, Atchison, KS, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Farris, and his uncle, Milton Farris. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS.  The family will greet friends for a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Jared Farris Education Fund sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
