Evelyn Marie Jacobson, 82, of Salina, KS and formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Kenwood View Health & Rehabilitation Center, Salina. Evelyn and her husband, Jim, owned “Jakes Place” in Marquette, KS. She also worked at Walmart in the automotive department and was a bus monitor for the Durham School Services.
Evelyn was born on November 23, 1938, in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Oris Leon and Marie (Schilling) Butcher. She graduated from high school in La Crosse, KS. On December 23, 1971, Evelyn was united in marriage to James “Jim” Andrew Jacobson in McPherson, KS. Jim preceded her in death on February 5, 2018.
Survivors include: her children, Cheryl Miller (Tom) of Salina, KS, Kenny Erickson (Juanita) of Neodesha, KS, Jerry Erickson (Tracy Barr) of McPherson, KS, and Janell Jacobson (Sammie Mallard) of Salina, KS; a sister, Bernice Roberson of Henderson, NV; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Phyllis Barrett, Gwendolyn Tuzicka, and Delores “Dee” Talbott.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 5, 2021, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Family encourages friends to wear their favorite sports team apparel. A link to view the livestream of the service will be available on the funeral home’s website closer to service time.
