Harvey Ernest Disque, 92, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Harvey was born on September 9, 1932, in Claflin, Kansas, to Adam and Margaret (Radenberg) Disque.
Harvey attended a one-room school at State Center District 75 in Claflin, Kansas, and graduated from Claflin High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army at the headquarters of the Guided Missile Corp. during the Korean War, from February 1955 to February 1957.
A lifelong Kansas farmer, Harvey dedicated his life to farming, sowing, and reaping the land with pride as part of his calling. He married Neva Ann Holl on May 15, 1960, in Ellinwood, Kansas. After 34 wonderful years together, she preceded him in death on March 14, 1994.
Harvey is survived by his four daughters: Renee (Lee) Williams of Colorado Springs, CO, Angela (Gary) Naden of Bozeman, MT, Robin (Kenneth) Ponitz of Ft. Worth, TX, and Julie (Shawn) Opat of Salina, KS. He leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Jeremy (Kaci) Snyder, Amber (Shaun) O'Bryant, Cory (Shelby) Snyder, Rebecca Naden, Ryan (Anne Marie) Williams, Michelle (Nathan) Bjelland, Matthew (Aurora) Naden, Niles (Paige) Gridley, along with his step-grandchildren Kenny Ponitz, Olivia McAdams, Olivia Opat, and Sara Opat. Additionally, Harvey is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren: Corianne, Genevieve, Josephine, Asher, Isaac, Geneva, Carina, Ruth, Adalee, Errol, Oliver, Raelynn, and Samuel.
Harvey is also survived by two brothers: Walter Disque of Claflin, Kansas, and Herman Disque of Stafford, Kansas, along with a grafted-in daughter, Lindsay Meyer of Kansas City, Kansas, daughter of Don and Phyllis Meyer of Salina, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, and his siblings: five brothers, Martin, Clarence, Marlin, Edgar, and Charles; and six sisters, Edna, Grace, and Velma Disque, Mabel Flickinger, Aline Howser, and Leona Welch.
The family will welcome visitors on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina, Kansas, followed by a graveside service at Pleasant View Cemetery in Claflin, Kansas at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina Senior Center, and Salina Animal Shelter—causes that were close to Harvey’s heart. The family expresses their gratitude for the support provided by Pastor Mark Boxman, Pastor Dennis Kootz, the members at Trinity Lutheran Church, Gentiva Hospice, and the doctors and nurses at Salina Regional Health Center.
Harvey will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew him.
