Jamalee Plank Obituary 2022 - Yazel - Megli Funeral Homes (yazelmeglifh.com)
October 21, 1948 - May 30, 2022
Jamalee Skelton (Jamie Plank) was born October 21, 1948, in San Francisco, CA, the first child of Cody Leroy and Marcella Mae Gulick. After Jamalee’s sisters Coleen and Micki were born, Marcella moved the family from California to the Kansas City area. There, Jamie spent her formative years, attending Wyandott Co. High School, followed by beauty school.
In 1966, Jamalee married Timmy Herman, and the couple had two daughters together, Jenny Dorsey and Jill Sink (Sean). When Jill was a newborn, Tim and Jamie moved back to Lost Springs, Kansas.
After Jamie and Tim’s marriage ended, Jamie married Arvid Virgil “A.V.” Plank in September 1982. From their marriage grew a beautiful and loving blended family that included A.V.’s two sons, A.V. Plank, Jr. and Todd Plank; Jenny’s and Jill’s half-sisters Jodi Gregory and Toni Delgadillo; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Jamie’s life was one of service; from her work as a day care provider, to her career as a hairdresser, to her career working for the state of Kansas. Even her choice to major in social work, when she attended college at Bethany College at the age of 52, evidenced her generous spirit.
In retirement, Jamie continued serving others as a volunteer at Herington Hospital, delivering Meals on Wheels, and working with Hope Community Project Committee. She also was on the board for Herington Hospital Auxiliary, among other things. She was the center of her family and kept everyone grounded, involved, included, and informed. Above all, she ensured that everyone she loved felt it unconditionally.
Jamie and her family were surrounded in love when she took her last breath on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center.
Her parents, her sisters, and her half-brother, Greg Skelton, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her beloved husband, A.V., canine companion Keno, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and half-sister, Leasa Kosier.
Jamie’s spirit remains in each person touched by the love, respect, and kindness she gave.
