A successful turnout occurred at a recent biannual Kansas dogs judge training program held in Salina.

The Central Kansas District 4-H Dog Project recently hosted the biannual State 4-H Dog Project Judges Training, held January 31 to February 1 at the Saline County Expo Center.

Organized by the Kansas 4-H Project Partnership Team, the event succeeded thanks to 19 volunteer teams from the CKD/Saline, CKD/Ottawa, Dickinson, Reno, Republic, and Sedgwick 4-H programs, as well as the Salina, Hutchinson and Riley.

Participants were able to become trained and certified to judge the four dog phases of showmanship, obedience, agility and rally obedience in the Dog Care and Training Project. This training is appropriate for both leaders and potential judges.

Each participant needed to be 16-years and older to attend this certification and training.

Dog judges must certify every 4 years. Certification will be offered in even-numbered years beginning in 2026. All judges who need to recertify in 2026 or 2027 must recertify at this training.
