Ruby Siebert Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information (jostfuneralhome.com)

August 23, 1934 - December 22, 2022

Hillsboro - Ruby Siebert, 88, passed away December 22, 2022 in Hillsboro.

Ruby Ens Siebert was born August 23, 1934 to Henry and Emma Friesen Ens on a farm south of Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was the third oldest of six daughters.

Ruby started her schooling at a country school, Friesen School, which was named after her grandfather, J.M. Friesen.

Ruby’s parents were members of the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn, Oklahoma. As a young girl she accepted Jesus as her savior and at age twelve was baptized in a farm pond near Corn.

In 1947 her family moved to Hillsboro. Ruby joined the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church and finished eighth grade and high school.

She had loved growing up on the farm and didn’t want to move. Little did she know, however, that she would be back on a farm in a few short years when she married Johnny Siebert. They married on September 23, 1952 and raised four children on their family farm: Charles Wayne, Jean Rene, Bruce Duane, and Lynn Susanne.

Ruby was gifted in many things, especially sewing, baking, and caring for others. She worked as a CNA at Parkside Homes for 15 years where she cared for the elderly. She sewed her own wedding dress and Jean’s and Lynn’s wedding dresses. She loved sewing beautiful wall hangings to display in her home. Her baking was enjoyed by her entire family, especially her zwiebach and cookies. The grandchildren always knew freshly baked cookies would be waiting for them when they came to visit. Ruby loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured every visit from them.

When her lymphoma returned this fall she was given just a short time left on this earth. Ruby’s sense of humor and orneriness were a delight for her family to see these last few weeks, and they definitely made many new memories together as a family.

Ruby is survived by her children Charles and Mary Siebert, residing in Newton, Kansas, Jean and Richard Hernandez, residing in Gardner, Kansas, Bruce and Tereasa Siebert, residing in Hillsboro, Kansas, and Lynn and Wayne Bartel, residing in Dodge City, Kansas. She is survived by her 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters Lois Becker of Dallas, Texas, Emma Walton of Belle Plaine, Kansas, and Roanna and Jim Neuenschwander of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband John (Johnny) G. Siebert, her parents Henry & Emma Ens, her two sisters Wanda Lee Ens and Alvina Bruno, and her daughter-in-law, Twilla Jost Siebert.

Celebration of Life Thursday, December 29, 2022 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Fellowship in Hillsboro.  Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
