January 23, 1939 ~ March 17, 2024

Barbara Sue (Klein) Krentzel, 85 of McPherson, KS passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Pleasant View Home of Inman, KS.

Barbara was born on January 23, 1939, in Larned, KS, the daughter of DeLloyd Clarence Klein and Isabell Olive (Schasteen) Klein.  She was the 3rd child born of 13 (6 sisters and 6 brothers).  She graduated from Hanston High School in 1958.  On May 28, 1958, Barbara was united in marriage to Marion Charles Krentzel in Hudson, KS.  They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.  This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Deborah and Deirdra (DeeDee).  They started their married life in Hudson, KS, then Great Bend, KS, making McPherson, KS their home for the last 60 years.

Barbara or Barb, as she was referred to, had various jobs through the years including babysitting, McPherson County Courthouse, and several jobs in retail including Woolworths, JCPenney, Mary Ann Clothiers, and our local Health Food Market.  

Survivors include:  two daughters, Deborah (Rodney) Gerhardt and Deirdra “DeeDee” (Kevin) Nelson all of McPherson, KS; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeff) Parker of Manhattan, KS, Tiara (Brandon) Boyd of Lawrence, KS, Levi (Courtney) Gerhardt of McPherson, KS, Dallas Nelson (Madison) of Kansas City, MO, and Darcie Nelson of McPherson, KS; five great-grandchildren, Layla Parker, Mason Gerhardt, Tinley Boyd, Avery Gerhardt, and Maren Boyd.  She is also survived by brothers, Bob Klein of Fort Dodge, KS, Eldon Klein of Dodge City, KS, Jody Klein of Dodge City, KS, and Steve Klein of Enid, OK; sisters, Kay Parks of Manhattan, KS, Donna Sherman of Wichita, KS; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion Krentzel, who recently passed, December 30, 2023; sisters, Carolyn Hertel of Garden City, KS, Phyllis Allison of Colorado Springs, CO, Ruby Rebel of Colorado, Pat Klein of Wichita, KS; and brothers, Richard Klein of Jetmore, KS, and Jack Klein of Dodge City, KS.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 25, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Anna Borders officiating.  The family will greet friends from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
