Marilyn M. Perry, 91, Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Marilyn was born April 22, 1930, in Clayton, KS to Lewis Thomas and Goldie Delilah (Youngs) Hixson.
After high school graduation, she was united in marriage with Joseph R. Perry on June 4, 1949. Together, they raised their six children in Minneapolis.
She worked as a phone operator for five years and she and Joe owned and operated Perry Liquor for 38 years; closing in 1987. She and Joe also worked at Shields and Wilson Family Funeral Homes for several years.
Marilyn was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she and Joe purchased the stained-glass window above the organ. Marilyn was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women and she served on the Rock City Board for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe in 2017; brother George Hixson; and sisters Betty Smith, Gwendolyn Stout, and Gloria Hixson.
Survivors include her sons Michael and wife Cindy, Thomas and wife Suzanne, David and wife Danielle; daughters JoAnn Tacha and husband Myron, Susan Nunn and husband Martin, and Patricia Boling and husband Randy; 19 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a prayer vigil and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 18 at Wilson Family Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
