Anthony John Lamia, Sr. “Meatball”, 66, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, in Madill, Oklahoma. He was born February 8, 1955, in Ellsworth, Kansas to Jasper and Mary Ann (Simanella) Lamia.
Anthony was raised in Kanopolis, graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1973 and then attended vo-tech in Salina. While attending vo-tech he worked at his father’s Conoco station in Holyrood. Once he graduated, he ran the Conoco station for several years, then worked at Northern Natural for a few years before purchasing Holyrood Motor Company in 1982, making his own mechanic business along with his brother-in-law, Roger Langston. Eventually becoming sole owner of the business, he was well-known for his mechanical knowledge and the respect he gave to each customer.
Anthony’s life was full of love and laughter. He enjoyed sarcasm and jokes. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, drag racing, camping, riding motorcycles and four-wheelers, trap shooting, old cars and trucks, building and re-building motors, his dogs, the annual fish fry and spending time with his friends and family. Anthony loved the beauty of the world and all of God’s creations, especially his grandchildren.
Anthony married Diane (Lawrence) October 7, 2009. He is survived by his wife Diane; son Anthony John Lamia, Jr. (Christa) of Ellsworth; daughter Bobbie Jo Rogers (Chad) of Holyrood; son Brock Lawrence (Bryn) of Holyrood; grandchildren Callun, Huxtyn, Zeke, Gentry and Harlow Rogers; Jasper and Colt Lamia; and Crew Lawrence. Anthony is also survived by sister-in-law Vickie Lamia of North Little Rock, Arkansas; sister-in-law Cindy Lamia of Salina; brother-in -law Richard Lawrence (Pam) of Salina; aunt Anita Selvaggio, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Leonard Lamia and Jim Lamia.
Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021, with family present 6-8 p.m. at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood with burial following at Kanopolis Cemetery, Kanopolis, KS.
