Edward J. Freeman, 92, Minneapolis, died Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Abilene.  He was born August 27, 1928 in Minneapolis to Herbert G. and Ruth (Payne) Freeman.

Ed served in the United States Air Force from 1947-1949.  He was the longtime owner of Ed’s Recreation in Minneapolis.  He loved fishing and collecting coins and eagles.  Several years ago, Ed was given a quilt from the V.F.W. Auxiliary #3201 for his service to our country.  He was immensely proud and thankful for that gift.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry; son-in-law, Parke Goodwin; brothers, Lloyd, Neal, Ted, C.D., and Ronald; sisters, Alena Rasmussen and LaDonna Perkins.

Survivors are his children, Carol Freeman, Eddie (Vera) Freeman, and Janet (Stephen) Meade; the mother of his children, Arlene Crist; two grandchildren, Brandy (Martin) Egbarts and Joseph Freeman; great-grandchildren, Tyler (Miranda) Hohner, Quinn Egbarts, and Raylee Freeman; great-great grandson, Levi Hohner; brothers, Royce, Harley, Wendell, and John Paul; and sisters, Ann Province and Colena Austin.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 27 at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Auxiliary #3201 for the veteran’s quilt program and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
