The Saline County Sheriff's Office is investigating a number of vehicle burglaries over multiple days beginning last week.
The rash of burglaries prompted the sheriff's office to issue a telephone/text alert Saturday afternoon via the city-county CodeRED emergency alerts sysyem. The messages urged people to lock their vehicles and out buildings and report any suspicious activity.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that the sheriff's office had received 14 reports of vehicles being entered and, in many cases, items being stolen, that spanned a time period from Tuesday to early this morning. Surveillance video from some of the locations was being reviewed, he added.
Additionally, a vehicle was stolen from Hedville early this morning and was located at approximately 8 a.m. today when a Salina Police officer attempted to pull it over near the Rodeway Inn and Suites, 3932 South Ninth Street, Soldan said. Two people were taken into custody and another was still being sought, he said. Salina Post will have more information as it becomes available.

Incident occurred sometime overnight Thursday-Friday in the 600 block of East Shipton Road. A black Taurus PT111 9mm handgun valued at $250 was taken.
Incident occurred sometime overnight Thursday-Friday in the 400 block of West Humbarger Road. A vehicle at a residence there was rummaged through, but nothing was taken.

Incident occurred Friday in the 300 block of West Humbarger Road. Paperwork and an owners manual were taken. Someone out walking located the paperwork and took it to the residence. That person is not considered a suspect. The owner's manual was located on the road.

Incident occurred early Sunday morning in the 4200 block of North Sandy Avenue. A Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm handgun valued at $516 was stolen from a vehicle there.

Soldan said that vehicle burglaries also were reported at three different residences in Bavaria Sunday and today, however those reports were not yet available.
