Kansas Wesleyan dropped the series finale to No. 11 Grand View 9-1 on Sunday afternoon at Salina South High School.
Grand View got five runs in the top of the first inning, and added another in the second before the Coyotes got on the board in the third.
In the bottom of the first, the Coyotes had a chance to score after Jocelyn Alcala (JR/Fullerton, Calif.) singled and Mia Hernandez (SO/Hanford, Calif.) doubled, but could not push a run across.
In the second, KWU loaded the bases with a walk and two hit by pitches, but could not put together a 2-out rally.
Bailey Rivas (SR/La Puente, Calif.) started the KWU rally in the third that got the Coyotes on the board. She singled, and Sydnee Fordham (FR/Thornton, Colo.) walked. Anne Thibert (JR/Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.)'s fielder's choice set up Anahi Agredano (JR/Anaheim, Calif.)'s RBI single to center to score KWU's lone run.
The Vikings added two more in the fourth, and one in the fifth.
Five different Coyotes had a hit each. Danika Utajara (JR/Lovington, N.M.) went four innings in the circle, allowing eight runs on 11 hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Natalie Zamora (SO/Houston, Texas) pitched the fifth, allowing a run on a hit, with a walk and a strikeout.
The Coyotes are on the road on Wednesday, at Baker before heading to Texas for six games over the weekend, playing four against Dallas Christian, and two against Jarvis Christian.
