Wichita State head coach Isaac Brown made another spring recruiting splash this week with the addition of high school forward Kenny Pohto.

The 6-foot-11 Pohto, a consensus top-150 pick among the national recruiting services, signed a financial aid agreement on Wednesday afternoon.

Originally from Sweden, he’s played the last three seasons at Sunrise Christian Academy, located just north of Wichita, and recently helped the school to a runner-up finish at GEICO Nationals.

Pohto will have four seasons of eligibility beginning this fall.

“Kenny fits the newer trend at our level -- mobile, skilled big guys who can play and guard multiple positions. Coach Luke Barnwell and the staff at Sunrise Christian Academy have done an outstanding job preparing him, both physically and mentally, for college basketball. He shoots, handles and passes the ball well, and he’s experienced success in high-pressure situations against some of the best players in the country. We’re excited to have him in the Yellow and Black next year,” Brown said.
