The City of Salina is asking residents to stay home as crews work to repair damage caused by high winds Wednesday.

"We are aware of multiple downed powerlines, power outages, traffic lights and hazardous road conditions. Our crews are working hard to resolve these issues. Please have patience with us," the city noted in a news release.

The city also asked that 9-1-1 calls be reserved for emergencies only.

Citizens are encouraged to report power outages and downed power lines to their electric companies:

"Residents who need shelter or power for medical devices are invited to come to Webster Conference Center, located at 2601 N. Ohio. Please check in at the chapel, which is the first building you see," the city reported.

Additionally, if traffic lights are out, treat intersections like a four-way stop, the city noted.

"We are aware of the smoke smell, there is no need to report it to officials. If you have personally witnessed vehicle damage, please report it to officials," the city added.
