Donald Robert Cox, 87, passed away on December 19, 2024 at his home in Wichita, KS. Don was born on September 29, 1937 in Salina, KS to James Ernest and Lola Catherine (Veatch) Cox. He graduated from Salina Central High School and Kansas Technical Institute (KTI).

On August 19, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Massey. They shared 64 years of marriage before her death on November 14, 2020. Don was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps.

For most of his adult life, Don and his family lived in Sedgwick, KS. He made a career as a computer systems analyst, working in Wichita at Koch Industries, Lear Jet, and Bank IV. After retirement, he became the Director of the Sedgwick Senior Center.

Don had a passion for the Lord and a love for his Word. He spent many hours reading and studying the Bible. He had a heart for helping others.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, James Earnest Cox. Survivors include his daughter Julie (Lee) Fields of Bedford, VA; son David (Colleen) of Bel Aire, KS; daughter Kathy (Brian) Dixon of Sedgwick, KS; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with the tenth on the way.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, December 30, 2024 at First Evangelical Free Church in Wichita, KS. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Roselawn Cemetery, Salina, KS.

A memorial has been established with Good Shepherd Hospice; 7829 E. Rockhill, Suite 403; Wichita, KS 67206.
