Fire in stock trailer full of cardboard under investigation

SALINE COUNTY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a stock trailer fire in Saline County.

Just before 6p.m. Thursday, Saline County sheriff's deputies we were dispatched to the 600 Block of E 5th Street in Gypsum, in reference to a trailer parked on an inhibited section of property on fire, according to Saline County Sheriff's Captain Jim Hughes.

Responding units located a 30 foot Trailmaster stock trailer that was nearly full of cardboard that was to be recycled on fire.  Rural Fire District 1 and the Gypsum Fire Department extinguished the fire.  The owner, Christopher Behrens,  Lincoln KS, who was out of state advised the value of the trailer to be $4,000.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated as suspicious.
