Hazel M. "Gram" Cochran

Hazel M. “Gram” Cochran, 86, of Princeton, KS passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Parkview Heights Nursing & Rehab Center in Garnett, KS. She was born January 27, 1938 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Hazel N. (Lovett) Cusey and Owen V. Cusey. She grew up and attended schools in Overland Park, KS and graduated with the Class of 1956 at Shawnee Mission North High School.
She was united in marriage to Ronald Neil Cochran on June 8, 1956 in Biloxi, MS. They shared over thirty-three years of marriage before the passing of her husband on October 26, 1989.
Hazel was a homemaker and Air Force wife who lived in many places along with her husband and three daughters, Ronda, Brenda and Cindy before moving back to Kansas. She later worked as a bus driver for the Central Heights School District; H.D. Lee; McDonalds; and RCIL Home Health Care all in Ottawa.
She was an active member of the Princeton United Methodist Church, Princeton, KS. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and caring for animals. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who never missed a ball game or special family event and will be remembered by many as “Gram”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Hazel Cusey; her husband, Ronald Cochran; and a son-in-law, Jeff Reed.
Gram is survived by three daughters, Ronda Reed (Imel), Brenda Bones and Cindy Kirkland and husband, Randy all of Princeton, KS; five grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Imel and his wife, Dr. Erin Imel of Tolar, TX, Joshua Imel of Cheyenne, WY, Justin Bones and wife, Lauren of Princeton, KS, Jinny Schweiger and husband, Joe of Rantoul, KS and Tonya Kirkland of Princeton, KS; twelve great-grandchildren, Merritt, Senne, Colten, Jan, Bryce, Gavin, Clarence, Hazel, Demeree, Dakota, Sophee and Tucker; and one great-great grandson, Briggs.
Graveside services and Interment will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, KS. The family will receive friends before the service for lunch at 12 (Noon) Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Princeton Community Building and also following the service at the Princeton Community Building.
